I you can dig out a subtitled (or if you can speak French) there is a hockey series made in Quebec called "Lance et compte", the story of young prodigy Pierre "Le Chat" Lambert who plays for the Le National de Quebec. The coach character is brilliant, the series is a mix of hockey, love stories and touches a few sensitive things such as homophobia in the sport and racism.
A movie I mean to watch is "The Program" about Lance Armstrong, seems a decent effort.
If you want to include rock climbing in the sport movies category, "Nordwand", a German movie about a doomed attempt to climb Eiger during the Nazi era is pretty good. One of the climbers gave a name to a climbing feature on the Eiger north face, the "Hinterstroisser traverse"...
