There have been at least three different incarnations of South Shields down the years but their official site is treating them as one club. It's also well written about the club's peak period around 1910-30.

Barnsley played them in a peak season for both clubs 1921-1922.

A complicated history entwined with the various Gatesheads.

Anyway, Truro to play Carlisle, Hartlepool or Gateshead in the first round?

Truro to Gateshead is 458 miles between football grounds.

Bloody hell, South Shields getting crowds averaging over 1500 (as per the draw show just now) is amazing.

Woking or Concord Rangers away. Oh god. Memories of Chorley, Tamworth and Bishop Auckland come rushing back. Here's Bury against the latter in 1994, with Tony Gubba claiming that 'the ball must be as slippy as a wet baby' and then identifying Stan Ternent as Mike Walsh and interviewing Ronnie Mauge, post-match:

Those games against you still linger in my memory, more than some of our more recent cup exploits, especially when Warren Haughton scored the opening goal in front of us in the replay. Shame we couldn't quite hold out.

The South Stand feeling towards Neil Warnock ratcheted up a couple of notches when that went in. We were extremely fortunate to come away with an injury time win. Some of our fans still think back fondly to having fireworks lobbed at them in the first game, so I think there's a degree of rose-tintedness going on there.

Three ties to be moved for full live broadcast (Fri night, Sat lunchtime and some time Sunday afternoon, I presume) and eight moved to Sunday PM for the BBC’s ‘FA Cup Final Score’ show. Coventry v Maidenhead will be one of those eleven as Franchise RFC are at home on the Saturday.

No really obvious “potential giant killing” ties really with the bigger clubs tending to be at home, Wimbledon v Lincoln is probably a contender though.

Hereford v Telford is a decent tie for both clubs and means a non-league team progresses.

Can't see Shrewsbury v Aldershot as attractive to the TV companies. But weirdly Stefan Payne, currently Shrewsbury's first choice forward had a fleeting time at Aldershot earlier in his career. He signed on a Friday, played 10 minutes as a sub on the Saturday and then was off to pastures new on the Monday. His sole appearance for the Shots was against AFC Wimbledon.

Shaw Lane should fill their 2,000 capacity for Mansfield.

I feel Wimbledon away is perfect. We won't be under pressure, there is a decent chance we can win, and it's in London, so I can go (so long as I can get a ticket).

BBC2 busy demonstrating that, in FA Cup draw terms, more is less.

                                            Fylde-Wigan on the telly.

We get Forest Green, that's OK.

Doncaster v Northampton or Scunthorpe. If The Iron get past The Cobblers then we'll play them four times this season, the other meetings being in the league and Football League Trophy.

It is customary to play each other twice in the league.
