Someone wants to trade for the number you selected two years ago. Or something, I got a bit confused.

X11 season 45 - de rigueur Mortis

Mortis took on 23/12 Van Rijswijck and his Swine colleagues today in our first preseason friendly, emerging from the Tolsma with a 3-1 win despite a late Devon Newton bicycle kick consolation.
Alas the Oraanje were not in orange as Sits is (as customary with many of his teams) using their change strip for preseason, which was a little disappointing as our new Dutch academy product was making his debut in midfield. Nigel Paard is the only person in the Mortis squad without a single SQ or HQ to his name, but makes up for that by being only our second ever 17/5 arrival, which was an amazingly nice surprise this morning.
Remarkably enough the first, free-kicking defender Harald Gunnleifsson, was sold (for a longstanding club record 5.7m econs) exactly three years ago today. I felt he'd arrived too late in the season (my third in charge, I think) to develop and so went for the easy cash – a decision I've always slightly regretted as he obviously could've been something special, not to mention his name would've looked great alongside Arnor Gunnlaugsson's. Nowadays, knowing the game better, I think I'd probably have risked throwing him in for all the minutes remaining and given it a go.

The first were Hunter and McDougald, both now 24, followed by Van Rijswijk a season later. So it's taken ages and there's still a generation gap.

Hi Wayne
I'm sorry to bother you again, but there is a new Fenerbahçe in the Xpert Zone who are cheating in the transfer market like Avare's Fenerbahçe last year. The manager is Sel_Ayan and they have surged up to Semi Pro Zone B.
I noticed because they make an impossible number of big sales, just like Avare's team. They also get players in and out very quickly for a profit without improving their DV.
I took a screenshot of their purchased players on 1st July so the dates below are facts.
First, three players who appear to have been bought and sold in this current season - they were not in the squad on 1st July:
George Comisan 25/12 Def sold 20/8/17 for 11.6m
Olle Willman 25/15 Def sold 17/8/17 for 19.6m
Mete Cocaoglu 24/11 Fwd sold 18/8/17 for 8.9m
Secondly two examples of players bought late last season, already sold for a profit even though they are older and did not jump:
Leopoldo Negro (Fwd)
Bought as 25/11 on 28/5/17 for 2.1m
Sold as 26/11 on 7/7/17 for 6.1m
Charlo Rotin (Def)
Bought as 25/11 on 18/6/17 for 3.6m
Sold as 26/11 on 27/7/17 for 5.6m
There are many more players like this, so if you want more examples let me know. Today I took another screen shot of purchases. Basically he seems to buy and sell players all the time without developing them.
Sorry to send this, but if managers didn't cheat it wouldn't be necessary.
Best wishes

Many European leagues have a kind of rolling start to the season, with minor Cup matches kicking things off with limited fanfare. The X11 Ladies league follows this.
Code:Tundish Ladies 0 - 4 LNWR Locomotive Kirikian 6' Tashdjian 34' Vilhena 39' Perätalo 58' LNWR Locomotive 6 - 0 Tundish Ladies Perätalo 8' Vanikian 10' Jenna Aaltola (sent off) 89' Zakarian 17', 38' Vilhena (pen) 25' Heart 56' LNWR win 10-0 on aggregate Barcelona XXI 0 - 5 Invisible Ladies Björkgren 1', 29' Stoneley 9', 11' Shuttlewood 19' Invisible Ladies 7 - 0 Barcelona XXI (7:24) Shuttlewood 1', 68' Paul 6', 27' van der Kwast 15' Crouch 22', 33' Invisible win 12-0 on aggregate R1 Byes Coxy Ladies Wulpen Csiki Girls Dublin City Womens FC Drakaina Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC Menywod Maeshafn Solent Sirens Viking South Utsira Witches of Chiswick
The questions for Viktor Boskovic’s side were only ‘how many?’, and ‘would anyone unusual score?’. The second was answered first as the opener came from defender Dalita Kirikian, the first of her career in her fifth season as a pro. Taleen Tashdjian, Corália Vilhena and Karlo Perätalo added further first leg strikes.
The return was another cakewalk, goals from Perätalo, Zivart Vanikian, Gayane Zakarian and a Vilhena making it four by the 25th minute. A second from Zakarian made it five before the interval, but there was also bad news for The Steamers as Perätalo suffered a nasty 15-day injury. Which is a real blow to happen in such a dead rubber. All that was left was making double figures for the overall tie, which was achieved roughly ten minutes into the second half by Phrigit Heart. The only other notable action from the tie was Jenna Aaltola of Tundish getting a late red card for a second booking.
Kilwinning WFC of Division 5:18 (one that also features Coxy Ladies Wulpen) are likely to provide a significantly stiffer challenge in R2. First leg at Mollington Street.
Much the same ‘confronted’ Invisible Ladies as they took on Barcelona XXI of Division 7:24.
Goals from Elly Björkgren and two by Dee Stoneley, all of them set-up by Sofia Neves, had The See-Throughs three up and the tie stone cold dead within 11 minutes. Stoneley had a fourth disallowed, but that was soon made up for by young forward Aileen Shuttlewood before a brief lull took place up to Björkgren making it five after 29 minutes. At which point Pebblethefish’s side declared for the game.
It was also five by the half-hour in the second leg following strikes from Shuttlewood, a brace by Chelsea Paul, Alva van der Kwast and Rachel Crouch. However this time The See-Throughs didn’t completely shut up shop, Paul and Crouch adding to their personal tallies later in the game to make the final score 7-0. As with The Steamers there was a price to pay late on, however as van der Kwast suffered a 14-day knock.
Round 2 will bring Division 6:29 to The San Seethrough for the opening leg as Catalonia Nuns come to visit.
Round 2 draw - first listed teams home in opening leg
Code:Alto da Eira FC (6:49) vs Drakaina Backyard Babies FC (6:12) vs Witches of Chiswick Högdalen FC (6:15) vs Solent Sirens Inverse United (6:26) vs Csiki Girls Invisible Ladies vs Catalonia Nuns (6:29) Kvinnchester United (5:10) vs Dublin City Womens FC LNWR Locomotive vs Kilwinning WFC (5:18) Overwatch (6:38) vs Coxy Ladies Wulpen Pink Express (5:25) vs Menywod Maeshafn Steagu Rosu (6:61) vs Viking South Utsira Unattached (6:25) vs Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC
Coxy Ladies Wulpen are on the road for their first match with Overwatch of Division 6:38. Playing at home in leg two is something shared by all the OTF sides who benefited from a R1 bye.
Csiki Girls will take on Inverse United of Division 6:26.
Drakaina face Alto da Eira FC from Division 6:49.
It’s possible Dublin City Womens FC would have preferred to play in round 1, but as it is their bye to the second stage has landed them a tougher assignment than maybe wanted as they take on Kvinnchester United of Division 5:10.
Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC take on snarkily named opposition from Division 6:25 in the form of Unattached.
Menywod Maeshafn are playing up a Division as they gear up for Division 5:25 outfit Pink Express.
Solent Sirens’s cup run starts (and hopefully shouldn’t end) with two games against Högdalen FC of Division 6:15.
Viking South Utsira’s opening whipping boys will be Steagu Rosu from Division 6:61.
And finally Witches of Chiswick are pitted up against Backyard Babies FC where they will be hoping local rules such as automatic red cards for kicking the ball into the Thompson’s garden don’t apply.

X11 Ladies League season 49, matchday 1 report. Let’s hope things turn out rather better than they did in season 48!
Code:Division 3e Lincoln City Ladies 0 - 0 Viking South Utsira Division 4h Drakaina 2 - 1 Consett Vixens Mourne 52', 78' Battistini 91' Division 5:17 LNWR Locomotive 1 - 0 The Pretty Reckless Hutson 11' Division 5:18 Kilwinning WFC 0 - 3 Coxy Ladies Wulpen Tjørring 31' van Sttenberghe 59', 90' Division 5:21 Aspull Academicals 0 - 0 Witches of Chiswick Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC 1 - 0 Flick of the Wrist Farisy 86' Solent Sirens 1 - 2 Girls Aloud de Beauvoir 57' Lira 75' Kelpekis 87' Division 5:31 All For One 0 - 0 Csiki Girls Division 6:41 Rotnäset BK 0 - 2 Invisible Ladies Stoneley 18', 51' Division 6:55 Menywod Maeshafn 1 - 1 Ricipetti F.C van Hijde 46' Koenig 57' Division 6:57 Dublin City Womens FC 0 - 1 Black Widow FC Thörnberg (missed pen) 80' Pursall 36'
The Blood Eagles opened their campaign with a trip to Lincoln City Ladies, who had been promoted from the tier below last term. It proved to be a very hard-fought affair. Viking had more of the ball, but chances were split two-a-piece with Velvet Android’s side having both of theirs after the break. However both ‘keepers were in imperious form, meaning Viking’s season kicked off with a point.
A late stutter ended Drakaina’s promotion hopes from Division 4h last term, but that shouldn’t disguise what was a very competent return to the fifth tier. Maybe season two in this section is the one for moving up again? Dragons fans will certainly hope so, and will be encouraged by the opening performance at Delphi against Consett Vixens.
It was a pretty dominant showing by Etienne’s girls, as they denied the Vixens the ball for long periods. This pressure resulted in goals for Fionulla Mourne on 52 and 78 minutes with the visitors netting an injury-time response that was solely consolation. The victory could prove even more important in the long term as the Consett manager chose to move on following the match, making it highly likely that his old side will lose nearly every game from here on out.
LNWR Locomotive had one of the quieter campaigns last season with a comfortable mid-table position in Division 5:17. Can this be a springboard to a challenge at the top of it this time around?
An opening game against The Pretty Reckless, who finished one place and point behind The Steamers last term, offered a few clues. Viktor Boskovic’s side were the ones to make the game, creating a number of chances and not offering their opponents a single sight of Ahu Gültag’s goal. All that was missing was one or two more strikers to go alongside Kaitlyn Hutson’s 11th minute opener. So cautious optimism rather than wild expectation amongst the Mollington Street fans at the final whistle. Good expectation management, then.
It was last season all over again for Coxy Ladies Wulpen as they travelled to another side relegated from Division 4h alongside them, Kilwinning WFC.
The Waders had won both meetings with Kilwinning last time however, and were soon on course to do the same in their first Division 5:18 confrontation when Solvej Tjørring opened the scoring after 31 minutes. That goal was laid on by Eva van Sttenberghe, who went from provider to scorer as she netted the second just before the hour and added gloss in the last minute. Janik’s side didn’t give up a shot in the entire match as they put down a strong marker for the campaign ahead.
Division 5:21 will be where it is at for OTF derbies this season as three of our teams go at it in this section. One of these is Witches of Chiswick, who are returning to this level after three seasons struggling to survive in Division 4j came to a comprehensive end last term.
The first match back in the sixth tier for Wiblflibl’s side saw them at the Moorside Chippy to take on Aspull Academicals. It proved a one-sided affair, in everything but the final scoreline. The Bewitched controlled the ball, made all the chances, but found Scholars ‘keeper Norma Gardner in unbeatable form. It therefore finished goalless.
Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC also dropped down to this Division from 4j last term, the first set-back since the club relocated to Indonesia. Their opening game as they tried to bounce straight back was against an old foe, Flick of the Wrist.
Both of the clubs’ meetings two seasons ago had finished as draws, and another seemed likely as The Sea Spirits found themselves deadlocked at 0-0 with less than five minutes to play. However there would be one last chance for SeanoftheShed’s side. It fell to Tia Farisy following a corner, and she made no mistake. Three points secure, the march to another promotion starts here, making its way through Chiswick next week...
The third OTF side operating in this section are Solent Sirens, who shifted across from 5:22 after a successful battle against the drop last season. They started with a tough one, taking on Girls Aloud who look like they are a golden generation type project with the handbrake recently taken off (two straight promotions, all players under 30) .
Despite that, it was a thoroughly even game at Mayfield Park. The first half was goalless, though only because a referee’s whilst had denied former Drakaina player Callia Kelpekis an opener for the visitors. Andrew7610’s Sirens took advantage of this by edging on front themselves when Simone de Beauvoir nodded home on 57 minutes. However Girls Aloud equalised on 75 and then with three minutes remaining delivered the sucker punch as Kelpekis made up for her earlier disallowed effort.
One of the few out-and-out success stories of last term was Csiki Girls romping to the Division 6:62 title. They are now operating in 5:31, and began their campaign in that at All For One, which is a motto that their manager, who is on to his eighth Xpert Ladies side, probably doesn’t understand too accurately.
He also shows nominative determinism in his kit choice (low-cut tank top), rather undermining the positive message that the club name and logo referencing literary swashbucklers sends out. There was therefore an extra reason to want the Csiki’s to triumph here and they gave it a good go – if either team deserved to win the game it was Ad Hoc’s. However no actual goals were scored, so they had to settle for just a single point. Which, away from home following promotion, is a good start for the Csiki’s.
After just missing out on at least a play-off at the death in Division 6:40 last term, Invisible Ladies will be in determined mood to go one or preferably two better this time around in 6:41.
The See-Throughs opened with a trip to Rotnäset BK, who had been relegated from the tier above last term, and the form trends of the two teams continued in this one. Pebblethefish’s side made all the running, and deserved their two strikes, which came earlyish in each half, both finished by Dee Stoneley. However what should have been a good day for Stoneley turned rather sour in the last ten minutes as she went down with a very nasty 23-day knee twist. As Invisible’s highest rated forward, she will be missed.
Menywod Maeshafn will be looking on building on last year’s third-placed finish in Division 6:55, albeit one quite a way adrift of the top two, in this campaign. They began their quest at home against Ricipetti F.C.
Maeshafn, who may or may not have felt much influence from manager IsThatcherDeadYet in this one, had lots of the ball but created few chances. Fortunately one of those, seconds after the interval, was a direct free-kick in prime position for Elodie van Hijde. However one wasn’t enough with Ricipetti equalising eleven minutes later and the match thereafter petering out as a draw.
Turning the negative momentum of Dublin City Womens FC around remains the biggest task for manager Mortal Joe. The difficulties of this were exemplified by Dublin’s opening Division 6:57 match against Black Widow FC.
Both teams were relegated from Division 5:29 the previous season, albeit in pretty different manners. Visitors Black Widow had been competitive, which meant there was a little more self-confidence in them when they were awarded a direct free-kick after 36 minutes, scoring to lead against the run of play.
As for The Dubs, events were conspiring against them. For one, key defender Vivian Ryding being stretchered from the field after 52 minutes (fortunately the resulting ten day absence shouldn’t be utterly catastrophic to her development). The other, more painfully being Bodil Thörnberg missing an 80th minute penalty that would have given the hosts a share of the points that their play (58% possession and 4-3 on chances) had more than merited. Repeat after me “It’s just a matter of time. It WILL come!”

Great wok* Janik, good to have the Ladies reports back – thanks too for the Cup update, as I hadn't seen VSU's Round 2 draw until that point! Particularly enjoyed the mention of "the Thompsons' garden", by the way.
* Er, missing 'r' of course, but I'm sure your Chinese cookery is superb too.

There's also a team called Real Madrid who look a bit dodgy. I've fanned them both. Perhaps if we all suddenly fan these teams it might do something.
What happened to the other team we thought was doing this last season?

This game is ridiculous. I've had so many injuries recently that I'm even starting to get paranoid about playing Normal. At Tobermory, Ben Romach becomes just the latest of my players to suffer three injuries in one season, and we're only just over half way! Today we had three competitive games and suffered two minor and one major. I'm going to have to start increasing squad sizes to cope with them all.
Good work on exposing the cheats in XZ, Sits. Let's hope the admin team take it seriously.

Slightly better news from the other side of the water, where I've just discovered nothingy Tiree academy product Gordon Greenwich has randomly had a bite on the transfer market at long last. A 17/3 MF with no other redeeming qualities (bar his name, if I say so myself), he came from the academy on the 4th of July and has sat there as a placeholder in our midfield ever since. I've idly transfer-listed him every five days since, or at least whenever I notice his latest "Gordon Greenwich has not sold" notification and remember to relist him, but more or less just for the sake of it – yet, to my almost complete surprise, I logged in just now to find someone's finally bid for him. A vindication for persistence, if nothing else, and now we'll be receiving a whopping 40,000 econs as a result. Provided I haven't accidentally trained him at any point during the last month and a half, and ignoring the initial academy investment, that'll make for a healthy profit of, er, 10k.

Failed to sell a player who arrived on July 4th VA? You're doing something wrong; this is the way:
Hi Wayne, following my message at the weekend, how about this one?
Aday Soriano, 25/12 Goalkeeper
Purchased 16 July for 3.1m
Sold 22 August for 9.3m
So no skill jump, and a 6m profit in 37 days
It's a joke.
Best wishes
