Wensleydale Black and Blues, he called it.

      Some fine looking numbers, HO.

There's another friendly date this evening, so theoretically you could bump them up a tiny bit more.

Hah, there must have been a subconscious 'cheese' link going on with MOF that inspired that notion of mine without me realising it, mustn't there?

Good point Etienne, I'd forgotten there was room for one more ahead of the CR. Have fortunately just got a late appointment with Foxy's Gaffney Globular for this evening.

Just don't go nobbling my keeper this time please. The loss of Ted le Great proved pivitol in our unsuccessful battle against relegation #makeyoufeelguilty

Oh yes, of course. Unfortunately, the squad are probably all getting pissed up in Ayia Napa by now.

Karma evidently got us, as the loss of Larry Leyton in our penultimate league fixture proved pivotal in our chances of making it a perfect regular season and of being competitive in the playoffs. So I feel your pain Foxy. Hopefully there'll be no nobbling tonight.

That sounded all kinds of wrong, somehow.

You'd have to be crackers to do that.

He says he considers the current one lucky! I looked to see if he's matched the change kit but no, a simplified Framley Tricoleur, of all things.

Viking South Utsira second match of the season saw them take on Johnstone Cougars, who were recently relegated from the top flight.
The first half was an end-to-end affair, with The Blood Eagles having more of the ball but chances coming at both ends. The scoring reflected the open nature, the Cougars taking the lead on 9 minutes only, Loba Deparvada levelling from a worked set piece five minutes later, Mette Hovland scoring after a corner on 28 to put Viking in front only for the visitors to level just before the interval. Defender Hovland’s goal was the first strike of her career in her 37th senior appearance.
If the first half was mostly even, the second wasn’t as The Blood Eagles took control. Bergljot Kvalvik headed Velvet Android’s team back in front on 59 minutes, an advantage that was built on when Heidi Hovland finished another free-kick routine after 65. Such was Utsira’s control that they didn’t give up a chance when asked to play the last quarter of the match with 10 players following an 11-day injury to Lina Hovland, and indeed came the closest of either side to adding the scoring when Heidi Hovland’s 86th minute effort was ruled out.
Two wins from two has VSU top of the early Division 1a standings. They share their 100% record with a familiar name, last season’s rivals Spearwives of Ygritte.

After a somewhat frustrating 0-0 draw in the opening week, Drakaina were looking to kick on when they hosted Immortal Angels [host, Angels, ah suit yourselves]
The Delphi crowd did not have long to wait for a goal this time, Sandrine Petit firing in from range just 7 minutes in. The rest of the opening half saw The Dragons banging on the door but not getting through again. The second half would almost exactly mimic the first, Petit crashing home a second from distance a few minutes into the half followed by a string of Drakaina chances and an occasional one for their visitors, none of which were taken.
So four points from two games for Etienne’s side, a record that has them third of Division 4i at this stage, but level on points with the leaders as no team has won two out of two.

Csiki Girls travelled to a Cowgirls IF they were promoted alongside (ahead of actually!), looking to build on their very impressive opening 3-0 win.
This one didn’t prove quite as smooth going for Ad Hoc’s side, who spent much of the first half chasing shadows, a task that eventually saw them give away a free-kick from which Cowgirls took the lead. Csiki Girls got more in to it after the break and thought they had equalised when Saoirse McInns had the ball in the net after 58 minutes, but it was disallowed. McInns was not to be denied, though, earning her side a point with an 83rd minute strike.
Csiki Girls sit second in the Division 4p standings, two points adrift of early leaders Womanchester United.

Erbil won their opening match 2-1, whilst Allstar 002 opened up with a goalless draw. Whose style would predominate in their meeting at the Erbil Arena on Matchday 2?
It would have to be said to be Allstars. Erbil tried to make a game of it, but Jdsx’s side were stymied by the mass defence arrayed against them. The good news was the visitors didn’t nick a goal for a smash-and-grab win.
Worryingly this was one of three Division 5:16 games on the day to finish goalless. It’s looking like a Division that is going to be hard work for the fans, and close in the table – Erbil’s four points from their opening two games has them second and only off the top on goal difference.

A win following promotion meant that LNWR Locomotive travelled up to Renegades Ladies in good spirits.
The Steamers day out looked like it was getting better when Charlotte Nixon had the ball in the net after 19 minutes, but when that was ruled out Locomotive’s day gradually disintegrated with few chances created, a fair few given up and a goal conceded on 63 minutes to lose the game.
Defeat left Viktor Boskovic’s charges third in the young Division 5:17 table.

The final match of Season 50 saw Coxy Ladies Wulpen welcome Liverpool FCL to The Curlew’s Nest in a match The Waders needed to win and hope for other results to drop their way.
Wulpen came through 3-1 that day, but did not get what they were hoping for from elsewhere, so find themselves in Division 5:18 this season. As do Liverpool, who Wulpen were relegated alongside, with the sides swiftly returning to combat.
This match would also finish 3-1, but there the similarities would end. Liverpool took the lead on 15 minutes and were generally on top. When they doubled their advantage after 49, it looked like a long way back for Janik’s side. Aurelie Wostijn did halve the deficit soon after when she fired home in the 56th minute, but a third Liverpool goal (a hattrick one for their centre-forward) restored the two goal advantage and put the final score at a taunting reversal of the pointless win a few weeks ago.
Defeat leaves Wulpen down in sixth in the table with just a point to their names so far.

The latest chapter in the ongoing fairystory that is Delicatemoth’s reign at Ullapool Northern Star came with the visit of Blancos Mágicos to Minchview.
The best childrens’ tales, one should remember, have their dark elements when things are not necessarily all going in the heroines favour. It’s only highly Americanised versions (i.e. crap ones) that cannot let even a chink of darkness in. This isn’t a Hollywood fable though, it’s a proper version so we were in for a downbeat chapter here. The Mágicos struck first on 24 minutes and though Ninorta Kha did show impressive resistance to level with a direct free-kick on 57, Northern Star’s defeat was confirmed by a second goal for the visitors with 20 minutes to play.
The loss means Ullapool have one point from their opening two games, which has them seventh in the Division 5:19 standings.

Having been mugged out of an opening win, Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC were determined to get off the mark when they travelled to Essex to take on Aveley Ladies F.C.
A strong first half performance from SeanoftheShed’s charges was rewarded when Adèle Pailloux rose to head them 1-0 up on 37 minutes. The Sea Spirits continued to press after the break and showed they had learned their lesson from the opening week as they added a second on 77 minutes, Leila Azeite firing in a direct free-kick.
0-2 was how it finished, the result propelling Kanjeng into the early leadership of Division 5:21. Their advantage is almost too slender to be detected, being alphabetical order.

The first Division 5:27 match at the Insan Haklari Stadyumu pitted Zeugma Dostluk Spor against Transmontanas Babes.
The match started brilliantly for the Anatolians, skipper Ophelia Blatherwick heading them in front on 5 minutes and Merdaleiro Áláfinesse doubling that advantage after 29. At that point Zeugma opted to hold on to what they had, a strategy that worked until half-time as both Transmontanas shots were dealt with, but begun to look shaky when the visitors pulled one back on 53 minutes.
Antepli Ejderha’s side paid the price for sitting back when their visitors equalised on 83 minutes, but fortunately that was as bad as it got, Zeugma emerging with a 2-2 draw from a game that had seemed in their pocket at one stage. The point, combined with the one gained in the opening week, leaves Zeugma fifth in the standings.

Matchday 2 brought the first meeting of OTF two representatives in Division 5:29 as Dublin City WFC hosted Menywod Maeshafn. It would prove to be a match with very few chances, and in fact many incident of note at all. The few significant ones that did occur heavily involved referee Ian Hartman...
The first half passed off very peacefully, with just an attempted lob header from Maeshafn’s Ada Westerberg that was wildly overcooked and high over the bar raising as much as a murmur from the Phoenix Park crowd. They were much more voluble in the 54th minute when visitors midfielder Monalisa Corleone attempted a wild tackle and was shown a straight red card. It was the first dismissal of Corleone’s career.
Whether Hartman was affected by this or not is unclear, but his second big decision, made in the 77th minute, broke the other way as out of nowhere he was pointing to the spot to give Maeshafn a penalty. Westerberg did the honours coolly. And that was that for the game as IsThactherDeadYet’s side claimed victory.
There was some question whether Dublin boss Mortal Joe even turned up for the match, as his side had no substitutes. If he didn’t, he will have returned to find his side had actually climbed a place to seventh in the table even though they have zero points to their names. Maeshafn have six, and sit second on goal difference.

A solid opening week victory and a team day trip that followed to Whoft’s famous fluff museum meant that Sockford Emollient were high spirits ahead of their game at FC Dench Ladies.
These were soon damped down as the game settled into a dour stalemate. The Gatorsharks had more of the ball, but couldn’t break down Dench’s stern defences whilst their own backline was staying alert enough not to give up many counter-attacking opportunities. In fact both sides would register just one attempt on goal.
The dreary nature of the encounter was encapsulated by the only notable incident beyond yellow cards and substitutions being a 6-day injury suffered by young Emollient forward Kayley Mullins.
Another trip to the a Framleyshire cultural highlight may be needed to revive spirits following this match, though a look at the Division 6:40 table might also do it as Sockford sit pretty on the top.

A recurring theme of recent seasons for Invisible Ladies has been playing and beating FC Saik.
The teams met again this week at Saik’s Wild West ground, and the outcome was quite familiar as The See-Throughs took command of the game from the start. Defender Virginia Coppell got the opening goal on 32 minutes, a strike Beáta Nádasdy added to midway through the second half.
That was more than enough for Pebblethefish’s side to once again claim the three points. It left Invisible fourth in the Division 6:41 standings, but only two points behind the leaders.

The latest step in Riverbankers FC development pitted them against Söderbönerna.
As is proving typical of the Bankies at the moment they found possession hard to hold on to but also had a rearguard and ‘keeper performing heroics to keep the scoreline level. Söderbönerna were not creating chances at will but they were fashioning enough to be frustrated to still be level as the match got to the 90th minute. However just when it looked like SouthdownRebel’s side would pick up a very encouraging point, albeit a backs-to-the-wall one, they finally conceded. Deflated by this, a second was shipped in injury-time.
Meanwhile the second OTF derby of the Division 6:42 season was taking place at Mayfield Park as Solent Sirens and Witches of Chiswick went at it. It would be a rather more action-packed encounter than the Dublin-Maeshafn match...
The tone was set just seconds after the start when Kaede Anzai’s sidefooted attempt rattled the Solent crossbar. The hosts responded when a free-kick was awarded in a dangerous position after 8 minutes, Simone de Beauvoir’s shot was on target but warded off by Bewitched ‘keeper Miyuki Kurihawa. The next clear cut chance brought the opening goal, or more like half-chance as Geovana Abbiati powerfully hit shot was taken from considerable distance but zipped low past Kurihawa.
Chiswick came again, Tomiko Matzuoka flick header drawing a save from Banaz Pinachi. That was just a prelude for a near repeat of Abbiati’s opener as on 21 minutes she once again let fly from distance and saw the ball arrow home. Thumping the shots was becoming popular even if at much closer range, as that was also the option that Solent’s Marlene Stieglecker opted from on 35 minutes and Chiswick’s Terumi Ota on the stroke of half-time, both efforts rocketing past the respective ‘keepers and nearly tearing the nets from their moorings to leave the halftime score at 3-1 to Andrew7610’s side.
The chances kept coming in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, Stieglecker trying a powerful curler from range on 47 minutes but just finding the midriff of the ‘keeper, Johanna Herrlin trying a header for The Bewitched on 28 that was wide by a clear margin, Abbiati catching a volley very sweetly after 52 only to see it stopped by Kurihawa, who also denied de Beauvoir two minutes later by calmly pushing her lob over the bar. The last chance of this flurry was a flick header from Ota on 56 minutes that went narrowly over.
There was a brief pause to breath following this flurry, up until Ota attempted to lob Pinachi in the 68th minute. Pinachi punched clear, which dropped nicely for de Beauvoir to launch an instant counter by setting Angela Cruchaga running clean through on Kurihawa. Cruchaga was cheeky and attempted the nutmeg, and was also successful.
The next incident was less savoury, Solent’s Evelyn Högardh flying with excessive force into a tackle that left Herrlin in a heap and subsequently carrier off with an 8-day injury. Högardh escaped with a booking, which was even more galling for Chiswick boss Wiblflibl as Herrlin’s knock had come just a minute after he has made his final substitution, leaving his side playing the remaining time with 10 players. Possibly in embarrassment and because they didn’t need more, The Sirens fashioned just one more chance. It fell to Högardh, but it’s probably a good thing for justice that her precise 91st minute header was went fractionally over the top of Kurihawa’s goal.
The net result of all of this is that Solent climb two places in the table to sit fifth and Chiswick loss two spots to be third, both of them on three points from two games, whilst SdR’s side proper up the standings.

MLX Season 17 is now created. AA-S get the chance to extend their terrible record against the Underground in MLX B. Or, perhaps, we can take a leaf out of England's book and banish a demon or two.

Good work SDR, nice and swift. As expected, Kakanui KuneKune will face another torrid campaign, this time in MLX D. At least we won't have the Underground for once.

MLX A doesn't look too bad. Top 2 seeds are the Quaffles and the Lizards. Very strong last season but both are running into average age difficulties and may have peaked last season. Zmaj are third seeds. Pulau Pinang are a strong team to be fourth seeds, and I'm sure Sean will steer them into the playoffs as usual. The other four teams all have strong players, but not 11 of them.

This is not intended to disrespect any of them, but when Zmaj are the 19th most valuable squad in the league, to be the most valuable in our division by a clear 10 million suggests we have had a preety fortunate draw.

Of course last time we won MLX we got relegated the next season, so no room for complacency.

Squad value of Gaffney Globular is top in GLX C, so will be disappointed if we don't make an immediate return to the promised lands of MLX (though Pebble and IsThatcherDead will have someting to say about that). At least the academy have tried their best, chugging out 17/4 defender Bjildur van Rjustiee with ice-cube, cock, the octopus of all-rounderness and an oscar. Apparently worth 3/4 million, but with econs in the bank and two defenders now over 33, decided to keep him, train him up and put Jeremie Hobbit on the list instead (a greedy goal-grabbing defender for a starting bid of 115,800 if anyones interested with excellent compatability).

After my relegation I've sold my two oldest midfielders and got a 17/4 in from the academy. Apart from two players the team is made up of academy players and I'm contemplating selling those two if I get another two academy players come through. I've no expectations for this or the forthcoming seasons so I might as well go for it.

Thanks for hitting the button SDR and a very belated congratulations to Etienne on a great win.

How many times have you had players continue on until they reach 40?

Tobermory's Glen Farclas will do exactly that as he shows no signs of retiring this season, aged 39. Now only a backup, his appearances record of 354 is about to be matched this afternoon by midfielder Dal Whinnie, who is 34 and has an outside chance of reaching 400 games if he can play on for two more seasons after this one - if he plays all games this season and next in the Xpert Zone, he'll be on 397. Fellow midfielder Ben Rinnes is on 351 but retires this season so will do no better than 373.

Well of course there was Zeugmaspor's legendary goalie Fikret Yucel, who retired at 41, veteran of 401 OTF matches.

Hammerpot go down on goal difference. Which is deserved, we can't score for toffee. Time for a rethink.

Woo! Thank you! Until the game was done, I was convinced that we were going to throw it all away on the last day again, like we did two seasons ago. Relieved that we managed this time.

It will also probably be the last time for a while, since the Mädels will tip over the threshold of being too old with the upcoming seasonal update. So we're going to rebuild too.

Early season it isn’t always possible to tell where sides will end up, so despite Viking South Utsira sitting top of the Division 1a table with two wins from two and visitors 1. FC Femina languishing at the bottom with no points from their opening two games, who would win was anybody’s guess.
The first half was pretty even in terms of possession and featured just two attempts on goal. However both of those were successful and as both came from Femina The Blood Eagles were in trouble. Things improved after the break for Velvet Android’s side though as they also got two goals from as many chances, Nina Austrheim reducing the arrears on 50 minutes and Emilie Klovning equalising on 56.
Momentum was clearly with Viking at this stage, but they made no further leeway and in fact were grateful to referee Tony Nolan for disallowing a further Femina strike midway through the second half. That meant the first dropped points of the season, but with other results going The Blood Eagles way, VSU remain top of the table by a point.

Week 3 sent Drakaina on the road as they visited Athletic Mizil.
The match was an open affair with many chances at both ends. The first goal was an own goal, which is all the rage I believe, by Mizil’s Laura Tekkala who planted a glancing header past her own shocked ‘keeper. That came on 25 minutes, and 11 minutes later it was two for The Dragons in more conventional style when Elena Gitsis fired in from distance.
The score remain at 2-0 until the break, and also for the entire of the second half despite the sides combining for 14 chances across the game. Which isn’t to say a two-goal victory for Drakaina wasn’t merited, seeing as Etienne’s side had nine of those, but 4-2 would have been more accurate, maybe?
Whatever the rights or wrongs of the scoreline, it took Drakaina to the top of the Division 4i table. They lead their nearest rivals by +1 Goal Difference.

Win, defeat, [blank] – filling the third bit with a positive was what Csiki Girls sought against Vasas Femina FC.
The first 45 minutes saw Ad Hoc’s side establish how they would play, letting their visitors have the ball for long periods and then pouncing on the break. This would prove a highly effective strategy in the early part of the second half, as it resulted in two goals. The first, seconds into the period, was finished by Saoirse McInns and the second on 52 minutes was a debut strike for exciting new signing Julia Bröker. Bröker, a 32/16 MF with goal instincts, cost the Csiki’s a shade over 3.5m econ, but if she continues scoring goals like this it will be worth it.
Vasas Femina didn’t give up, and pulled one back on the hour mark. The teams then traded chances, keeping the A kertem crowd on the edge of their seats until Sten Koll blew the final whistle with the score still standing at 2-1 to the hosts.
It was a win that propelled Csiki Girls top of Division 4p. Could a third promotion in a row be on the cards? Investment in players like Bröker has the Csiki fans dreaming of precisely that...

Erbil faced what looked a challenge on paper as they travelled to table-toppers 11 de abril FC.
However see above for possible distortions at this stage of the campaign. Erbil looked the stronger side from the get-go and were only being denied an opener by the performance of the home ‘keeper, whose clean sheet lasted until the 69th minute. That was when Harmony Lister’s defence splitting pass sent Tülin Besen racing through to give Jdsx’s girls all three points.
Any chance of a abril comeback disappeared in the 89th minute when Melosia Güengue let her frustrations get the better of her and was sent off for mouthing off at the ref. She would have been even more gutted when realising her lack of discipline ensured the sides swap places, Erbil becoming the new Division 5:16 leaders.

Cheshire took on Yorkshire as LNWR Locomotive travelled to play Leeds knock-off Lorimers Ladies.
The Steamers had a good first half, making two goal-scoring opportunities and taking both via Ragna Hofvander’s 33rd minute penalty and Phrigit Heart’s close range shot after 40. Viktor Boskovic opted to shut up shop at this stage, his side allowing just one goal back on 84 minutes as victory for the Lakes over the Dales was confirmed.
It was a win that lifted Locomotive up to second in the Division 5:17 table.

One point from the opening two games meant Coxy Ladies Wulpen fans were beginning to fret where the first win would come from. Would it be at Parkhead against old rivals Tartan Tawties FC?
The signs from the opening half were vaguely promising as The Waders marginally shaded possession with chances at one-a-piece and the scoresheet blank. What a tight game needed was a piece of individual magic, and it was young Wulpen forward Charlotte Beyen who provided that when she battered a shot in from 35 yards in the 51st minute. That relieved the pressure somewhat on Janik’s side, with the total release also coming from Beyen when she raced clear to make it two on 88 minutes.
The win lifted Coxy Ladies out of the Divison 5:18 drop zone to sit fifth. They are one point ahead of sixth and three behind second.

MAtchday 3 brought a challenging encounter for Ullapool Northern Star as they hosted a handy Funky Fartown side.
Northern Star shaded the opening half, creating the one chance going but couldn’t score. And that was as good as it got for Delicatemoth’s side in this one as after the break it was Fartown who took control, scoring twice to claim the victory.
The defeat left Ullapool with just one point from their opening three fixtures, and propping up the Division 5:19 table. However they have been far from outplayed in their matches so far, with just four goals conceded and a -3 GD. More strikes at the other end would help... some Mary-Leslie action is called for!

Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC were looking to maintain their early leadership of Division 5:21 when they hosted Papperhavna.
The Sea Spirits got two early boosts from their visitors, first when they turned up apparently without a manager (no subs) and secondly when Lina Holand put through her own net on 27 minutes. Not that everything went Kanjeng’s way in the first half as midfielder Thao-Ap Luangpruksachat went down with a 20-day horror injury in the dying seconds of it.
Talk in the home dressing at the interval was “Do it for Thao-Ap”, and SeanoftheShed’s girls delivered on that tribute, Rahma Ikmal racing clear to make it two on 62 minutes and Cindy Prins nodding in a header on 81. There was even time for a debut goal from a new young player, Dewi Daffa, who is presumably from the previously little-known Indonesian-Welsh community. She came on after 64 minutes for Ikmal and got her goal with 90 on the clock.
Not only do Kanjeng stay top, their advantage has increased from just goal difference to a full point on second place.

Played two, drawn two was Zeugma Dostluk Spor record ahead of their visit to M Bomber Girls. Could Antepli Ejderha’s side break out of these stalemates at the third time of asking?
Rachel Forsyth did her bit as she converted the only first half chance (17 minutes) to give Zeugma an interval lead. However referee Charlie Fender was not playing ball as he gave the hosts a 56th minute penalty from which they equalised. After that there were very few chances for a winner, the last hope of which for Zeugma disappearing in the 87th minute when defender Yue Zhen Kau picked up a dreadful 26-day injury, two minutes after the last sub had taken place.
Finishing with ten players probably left the visiting fans glad of draw number three, but it does leave their side in the Division 5:27 drop zone as they sit sixth.
