    Yes, well worth doing that.

Boys SAN are La Lima Lemurs.
Maslak Oto Sanayi are Pleepleus Pretzels.
FC YoungSteel II are Rabat Rebels.

VA, just give me a shout if you need a firefighter.

Ahh good work Kev – Rabat Rebels are of course former league champions under that name, as well.

Unfortunately Seattle Sounders' new manager has applied to rename them Portimonense S.C.... (He does have another club named Sporting Sempre F.C. – perhaps we could suggest he does a franchise swap?)

Nice one too Kev re the firefighting, Captain Flack may well be sounding the sirens soon then.

So can you do 300/300/200, or is the minimum 300/300/250/300/300/200 (which I'll surely never remember)??
I thought the same as you, but it's possible you can indeed get away with what you've mentioned there.

Bear in mind though that, as with most of the stats you see in the game, what's visible is only a rounding to the nearest whole number – whereas the true 'behind the scenes' figures are worked out by the game engine to the nearest decimal place. I have tried a spot of adjusting my academy funding in the past to save 50k here and there, in just the fashion you describe, but aside from the difficulty (as Sean says) in remembering to set the correct amount each week I eventually decided the savings weren't really worth the hassle from a productive standpoint either. That is, even if the star rating still remains on a visual 5, the regular small cuts in funding mean it's going to drift by a small amount in actuality to somewhere nearer 4.5 stars. So that minor saving in weekly cash goes hand in hand with a commensurate minor reduction in the chance of getting a top-class youth.

It's Zamso in at Seattle Sounders - I think he had a team by that name before, it's definitely his second time in the league.

Good shout on resetting the names, I'll get on that this evening.

Kev, thanks for the offer. Any firefighting help would be great - we still have 10 days until the Grand Final, so hopefully I can get one or two in by then and we can see where that leaves us. Assuming no more resignations, of course...

Alas, I'm not able to take over any MLX teams - not a VIP.

Ah, in that case, no worries Kev.

We now have a quarter final and a semi-final walkover guaranteed in the Plate after one manager accepted his Quarter Final invite, but only after accepting another from elsewhere. So, his opponent no has no fixture on Wednesday and the required QF fixture is on Sunday when the SF is supposed to be.

What a mess - for every two seasons when these tournaments work fairly smoothly, there's one which just turns into a complete disaster due to the number of managers that just don't turn up.

Matchday 10 sent Viking South Utsira to fellow mid-table side Sadnecessary as The Blood Eagles looked to get going again after two straight defeats.
Velvet Android’s charges had the better of the first half without managing to force a breakthrough. The same pattern continued after the interval, but this time chances were converted into goals as Heidi Hovland found the target on 60 and 73 minutes.
The moved Utsira up to within striking distance of their vanquished foes, but still sitting fifth in table ahead of the leaders Just wait’s visit to Ragnar Rock.
This matched followed a similar pattern to the previous one for the first hour, VSU controlling matters until one of their team scored the opening goal. Unfortunately for Magda Fevereiro, she did so in the wrong net! That came on 66 minutes, and temporarily knocked the stuffing out of the Blood Eagles. However with time running out a chance fell to Emilie Klovning and she rescued a point that was the least her team deserved.
That was enough to lift Viking to fourth in Division 1a. The chances of going up have gone, second is nine points ahead with three games to play, but those two result have put some handy ground between The Blood Eagles and the bottom three. The advantage there is four points.

Drakaina’s promotion push saw them host a Pinkie Pie side that were struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Despite the different trajectories of the teams, the match was a very tightly contested affair. Indeed The Dragons didn’t manage a shot in the entire first half, and only gave up one themselves. Things were only a little more open in the second-half, and the breakthrough, when it arrived, was rather out of the blue; Silvia Atum lining up a shot from great distance, with the Delphi crowd thinking “Why is she shooting from there?!? Oh, that’s why...”
Atum’s goal sent Etienne’s side into their top of the table clash at Grenta Girls with the sides level on points, the Scots narrowly ahead on goal difference.
That gave the match the distinct feel of a title decider, and it was The Dragons who were breathing flame as they shot into a two goal first-half lead. Both were headers, the first nodded home by Laria Sietaridis on 14 minutes and the second coming from the head of Susanna Barry on 34.
Gretna came roaring back in the second half, putting lots of pressure on the Greek goal. However that was only converted into a single strike on 84 minutes. The ball did find the net once after that, but that was the Grenta goal and Fionulla Mourne’s injury time effort was disallowed anyway.
Not that it matter, Drakaina had won and take over at the summit of Division 4i. Their advantage is three points, the goal difference between the two teams is the same and there are three matches to play. There is life in this run-in yet...

A long winless run in the league came to an end for Csiki Girls on Matchday 9. Could Ad Hoc’s side back that up against a side in close proximity in the table, Crazy Lady.
The Csiki’s showed every sign of buoyed confidence as they took the game to their visitors. The belief was aided by a 12th minute opener from Eleena Munoz. That was a near immediate return on investment, Munoz, a 29/14 midfielder, having been brought in just over a week prior to around 3.5 million.
One-nil was a deserved interval advantage, and it was soon added to as Munoz paid back another instalment of her fee as she raced clear again in the 49th minute and added a killer second goal. Crazy Lady did make a couple of chances in the remaining time, but the two goal margin remained and was also an accurate reflection of the play.
The win left Csiki Girls in fifth placed ahead of their Matchday 11 trip to Womanchester United.
The hosts were struggling near the foot of the table, and desperately needed to win, but once again it was The Csiki’s who made most of the running. This time around though the opening goal just wouldn’t arrive. That left the opportunity for a result unrepresentative of the match, which is exactly what occurred as Womanchester grabbed the only goal of the game on 74 minutes.
That result combined with one elsewhere saw Csiki Girls slip back down into Division 4p’s bottom three. They sit sixth, but only a point behind fifth and indeed only two adrift of third! Next up is a big one against the side who leapfrogged them last week, Vasas Femina FC (as opposed to Vasas Femina without the FC, who lead this particular section).

What had once seemed a relentless march to the Division 5:16 title for Erbil had stalled a little with a spell of two points from three games around the turn of the season. Jdsx’s side had put that somewhat behind them with a couple of wins to hit a big match against fellow promotion contenders Gehenna Hot Pants in decent form.
That reinforced self-belief was tested when Gehenna struck fairly early on, taking the lead on 10 minutes. Tested and found good, as Caroline Hinton headed a 21st minute equaliser. That was Erbil’s first goal attempt of the afternoon to two from Hot Pants, and it was the visitors who edged ahead again after the break with a long range effort.
Defeat for Erbil would have really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in the promotion race, leading to some determined efforts to claim a point, a task that was fulfilled with another header on 82 minutes, this time finished off by Tülin Besen.
Clawing back the draw meant that Erbil still held a points advantage over those nipping on their heels, such as third-placed Gehenna, who were two adrift and Matchday 11 opponents FBC Luja, who only trialled by one.
Erbil looked likely to extend that advantage for the majority of the first half, but despite raining shots on the home goal they took their half-time cuppa all-square at nil-nil. The scores didn’t stay equal for long after the break though, Luja moving ahead within seconds of the restart as they netted their first chance of the game. Failing to take your opportunities can be fatal, especially in such an important game, so there was considerable relief on the Erbil bench when defender Synne Wildenvey nodded her side level 12 minutes later, her first career goal in approaching 50 appearances.
The quick exchange of goals, and the tip of chances in Erbil’s favour meant that momentum was now on their side. And they rode it to victory, Harmony Lister firing home after a 80th minute corner to put her side ahead and Saga Isgren netting from the spot just two minutes later as the match went from all-square to decided in double-quick time.
Victory in the top-of-the-table affair understandably consolidated Erbil’s position at the head of matters. They now lead the 5:16 standings by a whole two points to Gehenna, with Luja now four points adrift in third.

LNWR Locomotive went into their match at struggling Throop Ladies as Division 5:17 leaders, looking for a win to maintain that status.
The Steamers suffered an immediate set-back though as Throop scored inside the opening minute. The doziness from the visitors continued, and the hosts were able to make it two on 31, leaving Viktor Boskovic with a key teamtalk and his side with a large hill to climb, if not quite a mountain.
The boss’ instructions had a galvanising effect on Locomotive’s performance as they came hurtling back at Throop. Gayane Zakarian fired in a long-range effort on 58 minutes to halve arrears, but unfortunately the need to push for goals left holes at the back and Throop made it 3-1 on 80 minutes. Ragna Hofvander pulled The Steamers back to within one again on 85 mins, but it was the hosts who had the last say as their centre-forward completed her hattrick on 89 minutes.
That shock defeat saw The Steamers leapfrogged by Watergate Bay Surfers ahead of the team’s Matchday 11 meeting.
The gap was only goal difference, so this was again a massively important game for the destination of a title. It was visitors Watergate who looked to be shading things in the opening half as they held an advantage on possession, territory and also the scoreboard after a 24th minute strike. LNWR were left needing something special to rescue the situation, and special is what they got, Corália Vilhena hitting a shot from distance that swerved one way and then the other and also dipped violently as it went in.
That ended the scoring as the decisive match ended indecisively. It leaves Locomotive in second in the table, -3 behind leaders Watergate on goal difference (but with more scored) and five points ahead of third-placed Stoke City.

Having edged back to within touching distance of the top two sides in their section, Coxy Ladies Wulpen had the chance to leapfrog one when they took on Merched Efo Peli.
The Waders had a very strong record against Peli prior to the match, and looked to be maintaining that when Laetitia Vandenbergh fired Janik’s side ahead as early as the 3rd minute. However things started to go wrong for Wulpen in the 19th when Vandenbergh was forced from the field with a 10-day knock. That was Vandenbergh’s first injury in a number of seasons, the previous one coincidentally also coming against Merched Efo Peli and seeing her sideline for a week-and-a-half.
Within three minutes of Vandenbergh’s departure, Peli were level and a few minutes after the break they were ahead. Coxy Ladies equalised themselves on 57 minutes, or rather had someone do it for them as Åsa Dalén put through her own net.
By now though Wulpen were clinging on, and they fingertips lost grip on the edge with two more Peli goals after 72 and 77 minutes.
That result left Wulpen hoping for a miracle to get back involved in the Division 5:18 promotion or play-off pictures, part of which involved disposing of struggling teams like bottom-of-the-table Wheelies Wobblers.
This they did extremely efficiently, Aurelie Wostijn settling any nerves with a strike from the first attack of the game, Eva van Sttenberghe adding to it on 24 minutes and Zara Carey heading a third in the opening minutes of the second half. Wostijn added some embellishment with her second of the day in stoppage time as The Waders cruised to the win.
That saw them edge back slightly closer to 5:18’s leading pair as frontrunners Liverpool FCL suffered a shock defeat. Despite that Wulpen are still four points adrift of Liverpool, now second, and five behind Merched Efo Peli, who are currently top.

Ullapool Northern Star are proving a hard team to predict as two excellent score draws with the erstwhile leaders were followed by a frustrating defeat that made Matchday 10’s meeting with The Sibley Squad crucial.
That was because Sibley Squad represented the team Northern Star had to catch to climb out of the Division 5:19 drop zone. The first half held some promise for Delcatemoth’s charges as her side moreorless held their own, Sibley Squad marginally shading possession and chances but goals seeing one each in quick succession as the hosts took the lead on 28 minutes only for Ullapool’s Mary-Leslie Mair to equalise three minutes later.
That was the previously prolific Mair’s first of the campaign as she suffers ‘difficult second season’ syndrome along with her Christian namesake, Mary-Leslie Mouatt. Would Mair’s re-appearance on the scoresheet be a catalyst? Err, no, instead it was Sibley who took charge, their two further goals midway through the period being well merited.
Defeat left Star well adrift of safety, and indeed they would go down on Matchday 11 if they lost to Northern Soul Ladies, The Sibley Squad won their game, or the two matches finished as draws.
Ten matches in without a win made victory sound a tall order for the Scots, but those that live on the North-West Scottish coast are made of stern stuff; they have to be. So Ullapool dug in, and went ahead on 19 minutes. Fittingly the goal came from a local, Lindsey Lovell completing her rise through the youth system as she netted her first senior strike.
Just eight minutes later it was two, Sonja Fågelberg proving not only Scots natives have fight in them. The half-time situation was comfortable, but that wasn’t the case by the hour after Northern Soul pulled one back. However, despite the fretting of the Minchview crowd, their team were always in control and closed out the 2-1 success to finally register that opening win.
Despite the defiance, the situation remains the same – Ullapool have to keep winning and hope others keep losing or they are down. As it is they remain bottom of Division 5:19, seven points from safety.

Defeat to title rivals Flick of the Wrist on Matchday 8 had left little room for error for Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC. They took that onerous burden on the pitch with them as they faced Spandex FC.
The visitors were desperate for points themselves to aid their promotion fight, and it was they who struck first, converting a 52nd minute penalty following a dull first half whose sole incident of note was a 10-day injury for The Sea Spirits’ Sri Malahayati. That goal put pressure on Kanjeng to respond, something they only managed once, Diksha Dalmiya heading home a corner after 73 minutes.
Despite the dropped points, no actual ground was forfeited as leaders Flick were also held to a surprise draw. That meant The Sea Spirits were three points back when they kicked off against Husmorskolen.
A quick and decisive start was what SeanoftheShed’s charges needed and that is what they got, Jolanda Dennen heading in a corner after 6 minutes. Kanjeng arguably should have built on this advantage over the rest of the first half but possession wasn’t turned into chances and they were hit by a sucker punch when Husmorskolen took advantage to equalise early in the second period.
Parity wouldn’t last long, Dalmiya nodding The Sea Goddesses back in front just three minutes later, and the match was done and dusted in the 71st minute following a successful conversion from 12 yards by Leila Azeite.
With Flick of the Wrist once again being held to a draw, the gap at the top of Division 5:21 is down to just a single point and -1 goal difference from the Indonesian perspective. Third place are three points and +10 GD further back.

Two key weeks of matches in Zeugma Dostluk Spor opened with a trip to K2O3, who appear to be named after a pop group rather than some obscure and unstable potassium oxide.
The sides were separated in the table by just one point, though that was enough to put two places between them, Zeugma having their heads just above water in fifth spot at the start of play. A win would therefore lift Zeugma will clear, but defeat would plunge them right back into the mire.
The former looked possible when young forward Latife Kurt fired Antepli Ejderha’s side into a 50th minute lead, but back came the hosts with an equaliser on 72. I suppose, given the previous, one should have banked on a draw for Zeugma; this was their sixth from 10 matches.
A seventh sharing of the points wouldn’t have been too disastrous a result for the Turks against Angelic Upstarts on Matchday 11, what with the visitors being two points back.
But the hope amongst the Insan Haklari Stadyumu faithful would have been more, particularly after Juliana Sales fizzed their side ahead from distance on 19 minutes. She would also edge Zeugma in front again on 38 minutes, just two minutes after the Upstarts had levelled from the penalty spot.
The visitors drew all square again early in the second period of what was a very open game. Open, but tipped in Zeugma’s direction. Just without the winning goal, as that seventh draw came to pass.
It all means Zeugma are still just above the danger line, sitting fifth in the Division 5:27 table with a point on K2O3 in sixth and two on the Angelic Upstarts in seventh.

Stuttering form (two points from five games) was the prelude to Menywod Maeshafn’s trip to fellow mid-table side Fossa Delle Leonesse.
Would manager IsThatcherDeadYet try to attack his way out of it, or would he rely on the patented ol’ defensive grind. Mostly the later as Maeshafn set up 4-5-1, held lots of the ball but made few chances. They gave up slightly more, but not enough for the Lions to breakthrough as the match ended in a stalemate.
Meanwhile Dublin City WFC brought a four game unbeaten run into their match at free-falling Harley Quinns.
The two teams would continue on much the same trajectories following this game as Dublin made light work of their hosts. Ana Isabel Carreto headed the opener after 24 minutes, Adelina Ciutacu adding two more after the break (53 and 87) as Mortal Joe’s side made it 11 points from five games.
That had got Dublin to within touching distance of the side above them, ... because Girls Can ahead of their Matchday 11 meeting.
Just -1 GD separated sixth from seventh at kick-off, but this time it was Dublin who were outplayed, possibly because the manager missed the game... It resulted in a comfortably 3-0 success for the visitors, ending The Dubs positive run which will now need to be kick started again as soon as possible.
That is precisely what Maeshafn were seeking, and expecting as they headed to zombies The Anarchists.
They actually made slightly heavy weather of it, despite Monalisa Corleone giving the Welsh outfit the lead on 16 minutes. Ada Westerberg added a second on 47 minutes, but it took until the last ten for the game to be made completely safe, Justine Bellamont heading home on 82 minutes. That came a few minutes after Corleone had had a personal second disallowed, and finally let the travelling fans relax and enjoy party time at Wayne’s house.

Sockford Emollient were on hot form prior to their trip to Newcastle United F.C..
Not that this was in completel evidence in an equal first half. Yes, Foxy265’s charges did edge ahead on 21 minutes through Alexia Batistuta, but they were not dominating and there was little to complain about when Newcastle levelled just before the break.
The Gatorsharks rather upped their game after the interval, and were rewarded just before the hour when Donya Antonellini fired them in front following a corner. The game remained in the balance up until two minutes from time when the prolific Batistuta (the sort of fancy foreign import Toon fans can only dream about) netted her second of the day and 11th of the season to send the points back to Framleyshire.
That was enough to keep Emollient top of Division 6:40... just. Their advantage over second-placed Gibbo Rovers prior to facing Dav Dolls was only goals scored.
Not that any goals were threatened in a first half that went by chanceless. The Gatorsharks had a slight excuse for that in their loss of midfielder Monica Parks on a stretcher midway through the period.
Once Parks’ teammates had a chance to check on her at halftime and find things were not too serious (9 days), they came out bustling and went ahead within thirty second through that Woman again, Batistuta. This strike was matched on 56 minutes as Dav Dolls suggested they might nick a counter-attacking point. That suggestion lasted until the 86th minute when a long ranger from Kayley Mullins secured all three points for the hosts.
The excitement in the John Spencer Street stands wasn’t simply confined to their team winning, it was also in the knowledge that doing so had taken advantage of a Gibbo slip up, as Sockford’s nearest rivals were beaten 3-0 at home. It means the gap suddenly stands at three points and +4 GD, with third another point back.

Marking time and development is really all that is left for Invisible Ladies this season. They continued to do that on Matchday 10 when they welcomed Haydock Ladies to The San Seethrough.
The hosts hinted that a performance might be coming when Darlene Forsyth put them in front inside a minute, but that represented the high point on the day for The See-Throughs as they subsequently shipped four from just five chances against.
Manager Pebblethefish might have been hoping for a reaction in the next game, but it was a tough one as Luculenus LFC still had an outside chance of promotion.
This time it was the visitors who took the lead, one they held to the interval. Sandie Parks levelled for Invisible in the 51st minute, and they got to within ten minutes of time all square before Luculenus pressure told not once, but twice.
So a pretty bad fortnight, with two heavy home defeats. It leaves Invisible still fifth in the Division 6:41 table, which is where it feels like they have been stuck for ages. Though they will lose a place if they are beaten in their next game at Villa Lionesses...

Up-and-down Solent Sirens faced another mid-table side when they took on Tagalog Ladys on Matchday 10.
The Sirens hadn’t won since putting then-leaders Duisburg away 5-1, and in fact had only scored in the return against the Germans, which was lost 4-2. That lack of firepower would be maintained here, and it would take referee Stellan Offsajed’s whistle to deny a Tagalog goal to earn the hosts a point.
This week was Riverbankers FC to host MSV Duisburg Damen.
The Bankies defence has become much tighter in recent weeks, particularly since visiting the Ruhr Valley where they went down 4-0. This time around Duisburg were frustrated by the obdurate defending, and another helpful ref, Justin Thyme ruling out an early visitors strike. Not that it saved SouthdownRebel’s side for long, Duisburg going ahead on 17 minutes but they couldn’t add to it as Riverbankers added another moral victory (i.e. defeat!).
Witches of Chiswick were hosting a side below themselves in the table in the form of Perfect Ladies, which felt like a chance to add to a disappointing points total for Wiblflibl’s side.
That is not how it worked out as Perfect Ladies showed how much they have improved this season by being the better side. They went ahead on 6 minutes and though The Bewitched levelled on 32 when Lyanna Mormont headed home from a corner, the Field Lane visitors got a deserved winner early in the second half.
Perfect Ladies were the hosts of an OTF side on Matchday 11 as Solent visited the Perfect Stadium.
Once again the hosts showed their improvement as they put together a strong first half, embellished by goals on 12 and 31 minutes. Jin-Ae Hyeong pulled one back for The Sirens ten minutes into the second half, but that was the last chance Andrew7610’s chances would create in the day.
Chiswick were on the road on Matchday 11 as they took on second-placed side Söderbönerna.
The Bewitched took a surprise lead on 41 minutes when Johanna Herrlin let fly from distance and found the top corner. It was the West Londoners first shot of the afternoon. They would get another (unconverted) after the break, whilst hosts Söderbönerna managed a few but only one successfully as the Witches recorded one of their better results this term.
And finally, we have Riverbankers on the road at Tagalog Ladys.
The Bankies have been improving, but that goal for is being elusive and with it wins seem a long way away. This one was never going to be the first victory of SDR’s spell as Tagalog were well on top, and ahead after 32 minutes. Riverbankers sole remaining chance disappeared in the 77th minute when defender Emma Moran, one of the experienced members of the team, suddenly flipped, absolutely smashed her opponent (who was stretchered off) and was shown a straight red card. Moran had previously only had one booking in 50+ matches.
Tagalog got revenge as their sub scored within two minutes of coming on to seal the win, and leave Riverbankers ever more marooned at the bottom of the Division 6:42 table, given Perfect Ladies sudden renaissance and back-to-back wins. Both wins over OTFers, sadly. It leaves Solent fifth in the table, having slipped below Tagalog on Matchday 11 and Chiswick sixth, four points adrift of Solent and now only two ahead of Perfect Ladies.

No idea why, as I hadn't got round to dealing with his name change request yet - although, perhaps that's the reason - so the team remains as Seattle Sounders. I CBA to pursue him to find out why he's quit again given this was his second time around. Instead, I'll put him down as another Worldcup12 and move on.

The problem with the fixtures in the Plate has resolved itself - the manager of Abbies Army has also now resigned, meaning I don't need to worry about how to organise their semi-final, with their quarter final fixture not yet played. It was their opponent in the QF match who messed up by organising another friendly first and therefore ruining the sequence, so I was keen to avoid punishing Abbies Army for someone else's mistake. I'll now simply eliminate both teams and have one semi-final as a walkover.

It's always the Plate that has these problems - I guess these are the least competitive teams in the league for a reason.

Yay, Gartside Green get a bye to the final and a chance to become the first team to retain the MLX Plate! *

You can count me in the group that find the MLX post-season a bit of a bind. I don't think I've ever qualified for the last 16, and though I've always fulfilled my duty in either issuing or accepting a trophy/vase/plate challenge, I can't help but feel relieved when it's all over. It's mostly down to me having probably my weakest team of all my leagues, but it does feel a bit of a bolt-on.

I've toyed with the idea of scrapping them but it means 3/4 of the league having nothing but friendlies for four weeks

It's difficult isn't it. You could ask who was interested in a post-season tournament and restrict it to them, I suppose, using byes to get it up to 16/32.

Can the Brythonnic League admin (can't remember who it is) tell me when is the most convenient time to resign from my team - before or after the new season process? I've been collecting sponsor cash to try and keep it vaguely attractive for another manager, but I definitely want to give it up.

That's me, DM – I sometimes forget that I'm not still 'Velvet Android' on here as I am in the game, but the clue's in the initials!

After the new season is set up is the ideal, if that's OK with you Ms Moth. Any managerless sides get deleted in the season creation process – so anyone leaving necessitates me delaying the process until I can find a replacement, and if I keep people hanging around then someone usually gets impatient and the problem is likely to spiral. The Change Report goes through in the early hours on Monday, so I'm hoping to get the new divisions (with all 110 clubs) drawn up either later that day or on Tuesday if I can.

In the last changeover or two Kev and Gawpus have generously agreed to step in to fill vacancies temporarily, and Kev is on standby this time for Captain Flack to swoop in – we do have one vacant side right now, Pumping Iron, so unless I get an application in the next couple of days that's where he'll be going. All else being equal, I thus won't have to faff around too long after the CR... but it depends on whether anyone quits without warning, rather than doing as you've kindly done in notifying/asking me ahead of time. Provided some miracle occurs and we make it to Monday with a full quota, I can let you know it's OK to resign (or I can kick you out, with love and respect of course) as soon as I've pressed Go on Season 57. If you'd be good enough to hang on until after that's done though it would save me a load of hassle, so I'd be very grateful.
