Warthogs have won their Tier 3 division in the J4GL, and I've lost my image shrinking app.

    So anyway, DVs: 3 x 17, 4 x 16, 3 x 15 and the oldies some other numbers.

    Comment

That sounds remarkably similar to mine at Mars Rovers, Sits.

3 x 17, 6 x 16, 4 x 15, 2 x 14, 1 x 13 all told. Actually a bit disappointing in several cases, since only one player (32-year-old Andres Callisto, one of the 14s) is over 28 years old. GKs and MFs were all right, defenders and forwards struggled rather.

Is http://jpeg-optimizer.com/ any use to you?

Well, the OTF title decider was a thriller with hope and despair both well represented.

[spoiler]And the title hasn't been decided, indeed Vita Mortis are back in the race. Please, please Hot Orange can Hideous Town continue their resurgence.[/spoiler]

Viking South Utsira, fresh from a 2-1 win over Bethanys Binos on Matchday 7, attempted to repeat the trick on the road.
The first half was all encouragement for Velvet Android’s girls, apart from the scoreline which stood at an unrepresentative 1-1 at the interval after Magda Fevereiro responded to the hosts nicking an opener. Something more reflective of the balance of the game was achieved two minutes into the second period, when Lurdes Quental, unusually from open play.
That proved to be enough both for a win and a perfect repetition of the previous week. The points lifted VSU back up to third place in Division 3e, two points off the play-off spot and five behind leaders La République de Random.

A retread would not have suited Drakaina against Cataluna Cats after the soon-to-be-independent Felines had won their first meeting 4-1. Fortunately the return in Delphi was an entirely different story.
Manager Etienne’s words of encouragement would still have been fresh in The Dragons ears when Susanna Barry opened the scoring seconds after the opening whistle. Barry made it two on 35 minutes and when Silvia Atum added a third three minutes later the complete reversal of fortune from the first meeting of the sides was apparent.
The Cats did pulled one back before the break, but a pair of headers from Grace Winter and Barry completing her hattrick moved the score out to 5-1. A nasty 13-day injury for Dragons defender Roseanne Beattie was the next action, with Cataluna taking advantage of temporary disorganisation to pull one back. However the margin would end at four, as Amalia Merckx made sure the game finished as it had started, i.e. with a Greek goal.
Revenge is very sweet (7-5 on aggregate!). It also moved Drakaina back above their vanquished foes into fifth place in Division 4h.

LNWR Locomotive were looking for a double against bottom side Throat Warbler Mangrove following a 3-1 away win in the first meeting of the sides.
Much to the delight of manager Viktor Boskovic, his side wasted very little time in securing that. Gayane Zakarian got the opener after 14 minutes, Corália Vilhena doubled the advantage on 33 and Phrigit Heart added a third before the break. And to make the boss purr even more, 3-0 was not flattering on the performance The Steamers had put in.
The second-half was more of a gentle run to the sidings to get a service before the next big journey. Unfortunately it didn’t pass off entirely smoothly, defender Núbia Bastos picking up a 12-day knock that kept her out of the Cup R6 match that was next on LNWR’s timetable. And one they could focus their attentions on, having climbed to fourth in the Division 5:17 table on the back of this win, well ahead of the drop zone and back within touching distance of the play-off spot.

Coxy Ladies Wulpen had stumbled to a first league defeat of the season on Matchday 7 at home to The Pink. Could they reverse that trend on their travels?
A half-time lead for Janik’s side brought hope, Zara Carey nodding in midway through the half. That wasn’t totally against the run of play, but things would change after the break as The Waders found themselves mounting a full-on rearguard action. Not particularly successfully as first one, then two home goals went in.
The second of these prompted an emergence from collective shells as Wulpen swiftly levelled via Ursula Madjarevic. However a retreat back to defence was punished in stoppage time as one defeat in isolation became two in succession.
Despite that, Coxy Ladies clung on to top spot in Division 5:18. Just. On goal difference.

There was probably some trepidation in the Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC dressing room ahead of their second meeting against Victorious Secret, seeing as The Sea Spirits had been handed a 4-0 dressing down in the sides first encounter.
The atmosphere at half-time was rather better after a half in which Kanjeng had been the better side, holding 60% of the ball though they didn’t create all that many chances (1 in fact). If they could just score first in the second half... 1-0 to their visitors from the spot. OK, second... 2-0 on 68 minutes.
At this point The Sea Goddesses goose looked cooked, but they showed they are made of stern stuff, kept going and were rewarded with a spot kick of their own after 77 minutes. Diana Doom took responsibility (well, her name alone scares the opposition) and made no mistake. Now SeanoftheShed’s side were flying and they were level soon after when Leila Azeite nodded home. It was too late in the day for a winner, but at least a point had been salvaged.
Solent Sirens had restricted leaders Spandex FC to just a solitary goal on Matchday 7, though they had needed some luck along the way. Would they fare better on the road on Matchday 8?
Arguably yes. The game was littered with cards, but in between those Andrwe7610’s side gave nearly as good as they got, making four chances to Spandex’s three. Unfortunately one of the four, midway through the second half, found its target whereas none of The Sirens three did so. Therefore it finished 1-0 again, but that still felt like a moral victory for a struggling outfit.
Moral victory was also the call after Witches of Chiswick drew at Flick of the Wrist in week 7. That kept the door slightly ajar for the bottom three escaping relegation, but The Bewitched really needed to put their shoulder against it and heave in the return at Field Lane.
Things started well for Wiblflibl’s side, Terumi Ota putting them ahead on 18 minutes. That was to be the high water mark, though. Within three minutes Flick were level and by the interval they were 2-1 up. Midway through the second period that became three, and the match was done.
With it probably went The Bewitched’s hopes of remaining in Division 5:21, as the gap from them at the bottom to safety grew to a yawning 10 points. The same is true of The Sirens. And the team they were nominally chasing? That was Kanjeng, who had dropped a spot to fifth after their draw. But they were closer to the top at seven points distant to the side one place below them (Aspull Academicals being nine adrift).

The omens for Csiki Girls were not good ahead of their trip to Division 5:31 leaders Chernabogs Valkyries. The Valkyries had dropped five points all campaign, conceded just three goals and had won 1-0 at A kertem only seven days before.
That match was rather tight however, generating some cautious optimism for Ad Hoc’s troops. This was rewarded after 27 minutes when summer signing Solange Solas raced on to a through ball and steered home.
A lead for the visitors was quite reasonable on the balance of play and remained so with time ebbing away. However two decisive incidents late in the game would prevent a brilliant away win. The first on 87 minutes saw Afton Sheerin lunge into a tackle and pick up her second yellow card of the day. This also precipitated the second, as Sheerin’s foul forced Chernabogs into a substitution and it was the replacement to whom a 94th minute chance fell. She made no mistake, to leave the travelling fans gutted.
A point gained at the leaders, or two dropped? Well, both in the circumstances. The one that The Csiki’s emerged with wasn’t enough to lift them from sixth spot in the table.

Invisible Ladies increased their advantage over Tagalog Ladys and thereby the Division 6:41 drop zone to five points on Matchday 7. At least maintaining that gap was the aim for Matchday 8.
The first half was something of a curate’s egg for The See Throughs. They had lots of the ball, but gave up fewer chances than they made. And though they may have only fashioned one opening, they finished it, Bea Ackling nodding home after 31 minutes.
Pebblethefish’s side maintained their efficiency in front of goal after the break as Elly Björkgren converted the one chance she would have in the match. Unfortunately she did so past See Through’s ‘keeper Nadine Hanley. D’Oh!
The point kept the gap back to Tagalog at five points and also maintained Invisible in fourth spot in the standings.

Routine zombie killing for Menywod Maeshafn as they dealt casually with the minor threat presented by Crvena Zvezda.
The scoring was duopolised by Monalisa Corleone and Elodie van Hijde. Corleone was the first to strike, on 23 minutes and made it two for herself and her team after 28. Then it was van Hijde’s turn, netting after 32 minutes (from the spot) and 41.
After the break it turned more into a ritual competition between the players for who was going to get to the hattrick first. In the end it was Corleone who managed it, heading home midway through the half. She enjoyed it so much she repeated the trick in the second-last minute to put a cap on an easy day for IsThatcherDeadYet’s charges.
Maeshafn stayed fourth after the win, but saw the gap on the play-off spot close to just one point.

A similar task faced Dublin City Womens FC as they took on Bryttes.
The away meeting was 5-0, but this time around that stage had been reached as early as the 30th minute. The goals were shared around, with Vivian Ryding, Eunice Caldeira, Veronica Kåmark and Ai Kamide all netting, along with an own goal from Nim Pinphong. Defender Ryding’s strike was the first of her career.
Caldeira struck again to make it six just after the hour, and that might have been where Mortal Joe’s charges stuck if Bryttes hadn’t had a player sent-off for two yellows late on. But they did go down to ten, giving the motivation for first Rita Cruz and then Adelina Ciutacu to strike and take the total up to a rarely seen eight.
The goal difference may come in handy, as there was no change in the top three in Division 6:57 as they all won. Dublin therefore remain second, three points behind the leaders and three ahead of third.

And then there was one... for the X11 Ladies Cup sixth round report.

              Code:
              LNWR Locomotive 0 - 1	Rangers FC
              				Cameron 11'
I suppose LNWR Locomotive can’t be too sniffy about playing a side that wears light blue and calls itself Rangers FC, given that the biggest thing the London and North-Western Railway offered was to increase the union between London and Glasgow by dint of a rapid transport connection and co-operation with the Caledonian Railway.
Still, going out of the Cup to such a beast sticks in the craw somewhat. Even if they are run from Sweden, so might lack full appreciation of exactly who Rangers are. What this virtual group of Bears managed was to give Viktor Boskovic’s side a very hard time. Just one goal was scored, but a win for The Steamers was never really on the cards.
And that ended OTF interest in the Cup for this season.

The Viking South Utsira promotion bandwagon seemed back on track ahead of their match with Q.P.R Ladies, but would the hopes make it wobble again?
Not if Heidi Hovland would have anything to do with it, as she shot The Blood Eagles into a 21st minute lead. That was OK, but manager Velvet Android was demanding more, for his nerves as much as anything. One of his go-to players respond, Lurdes Quental swirling home two direct free-kicks in quick succession.
The win lifted Viking back up to second in Division 3e, though still five points behind the leaders in this section.

Having climbed out of the drop zone last week, Drakaina were both looking to put some distance between it and them, and also to try and catch up with the promotion-chasing sides like Tartan Tawties FC who sat just a handful of points ahead.
However it wasn’t to be for The Dragons on this occasion as Tartan proved too well organised and talented. Etienne’s girls didn’t manage a single shot in the 90 minutes and though their hosts only prised open four openings, two of them were converted.
Defeat means Drakaina remain looking over their shoulders at the Division 4h drop zone. This remains one point in arrears of the Greeks.

A mid-table encounter was the fare when LNWR Locomotive stopped off at Gretna Girls FC.
The hosts held an interval lead, but Viktor Boskovic’s side were still in the match and would have argued strongly that Ragna Hofvander equaliser early in the second half had been coming. However the same would prove to be true of Grenta’s second on 55 minutes as they spent the remainder of the game in control and taking pot shots at Ahu Gültag’s net.
Defeat left The Steamers rather marooned in the table. They sit fifth, but are seven points clear of the drop zone and also five off the play-offs and seven behind the summit.

Following two back-to-back unexpected and bad results, Coxy Ladies Wulpen needed stuff to go their way against Funky Fartown.
Unfortunately for boss Janik The Waders luck had been used up by their against-the-run-of-play victory in Fartown a few weeks ago. This time around the scoreline would reflect the match as Nanna Bjerre Nielsen’s 10th minute opener was cancelled out by a long range Fartown blast.
Both teams tried thereafter and Coxy Ladies probably shaded it, but without forcing a winner. And that meant three on the spin without a win, and with it the loss of a place in the Division 5:18 table as Wulpen dropped to second.

Another side needing luck were relegation haunted Witches of Chiswick as they travelled to promotion hunting Girls Aloud.
The goblet of fortune was offered to The Bewitched on 38 minutes when Tomiko Matzuoka netted, only for referee Irre Levant to snatch it away again by disallowing the effort. And within two minutes Chiswick had paid for that, conceding to fall behind.
Not long after the break it was two, as ex-Drakaina player Callia Kelpekis struck. This was closely followed by a camera shot of Bewitched manager Wiblflibl sinking into his coat on the bench, looking glum. He was right to be so, as his side fell three behind late on, which is how they would finish as well.
Some days you just get out of bed on the right side. Last Tuesday was just such a day for Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC’s Tia Farisy, and she produced magic in an OTF derby to boot as her side visited Solent Sirens.
It was all perfection, as Farisy wasted the first chance of the match on 3 minutes, hitting the angle of post and bar. For shame. Cindy Prins was the next to try for The Sea Spirits, but her diving header on 7 minutes was saved by Solent ‘keeper Elsa Odhelius, who was making her debut. If Odhelius hadn’t worked out she was in for a baptism of fire already, she definitely knew by the 21st minute as by then Farisy had scored a hattrick. Her opener came after 9 minutes, breaking clear of the Sirens defence and slipping the ball past Odhelius’ right hand. The on 17 Farisy thumped a curler from range into the top corner, before netting nearly as spectacularly on 21 minutes as a freekick was dinked up for her to smash in on the half-volley.
Getting bored of scoring, Farisy decided to set someone else up for a chance. The lucky recipient was Jennifer Willockx, who lobbed Odhelius to make it four after 31 minutes. Farisy was the back to shooting on 37 minutes and but for the width of a post she would have had her fourth and her side’s fifth. At that point Farisy paused for a bit of a breather, which allowed Andrew7610’s shell-shocked troops a few minutes of near parity during which they pulled one back via Geovana Abbiati’s 41st minute lob.
Maybe there would have been a way back for the hosts if Petra Ulander had not hit the post with a penalty given seconds after the interval. But probably as the woodwork was also proving no friend of SeanoftheShed’s side either, with Prins being the latest to be denied as her direct free-kick crashed into the crossbar. That came on 48 minutes, and when Kanjeng got another in shooting range after 54 minutes Prins abdicated responsibility to Farisy but tapping the ball to her teammate. Fizz, swish, 5-1.
Possibly Farisy was motivated by the 11 day injury suffered by Jolanda Dennen that produced the free-kick chance. On she rampaged, seeing a well placed header on 57 minutes narrowly clear the crossbar and then striking twice more, nutmegging Odhelius on a 71st minute breakaway and putting a diving header past her on 88 minutes. That made sure the perfect hattrick had been scored, if one picks the key goals from amidst the double-hattrick Farisy finished with. And not forgetting her assist on the other goal of the magnificent seven.
What of Farisy’s strike partner in this game, Diksha Dalmiya? She had one opportunity on 67 minutes, but her toe-poke was straight at Odhelius. It really was a one-woman show. One that resulted in The Sea Spirits climbing to fourth in Division 5:21, just three points behind third and with the goal difference gap also vastly reduced. Meanwhile the bottom three look doomed, which is a pity for Solent (seventh) and Chiswick (eighth). Both are now 11 points from safety with five to play, so could go down as early as their next match.

Csiki Girls were getting mired in a relegation battle ahead of their trip to Universitatea Cluj.
What Ad Hoc’s side needed was a good win. Or a lucky one, such as Cluj having a goal disallowed closely followed by The Csiki’s scoring. The first part came true, but Solange Solas’ 24th minute strike also fell foul of infamous ref Tony Nolan. Csiki Girls had lots of the ball in the rest of the game, but without effect, meaning that when Bethany Austin put through her own net after 64 minutes it felt pretty terminal, and certainly so when it became two about ten minutes later.
Csiki Girls need to close a four point gap on fifth if they want to preserve their Division 5:31 status. They have five games to do it.

A mid-table nothing of a game greeted Invisible Ladies when they welcomed Future Girls to The San Seethrough. As these things sometimes can do, that freed the shackles from both teams and led to an open, attacking match.
Future Girls were first to strike, but their lead didn’t last for long, just two minutes elapsing until Dee Stoneley equalised. The See-Throughs were ahead by the interval following Beáta Nádasdy’s 43rd minute long-ranger. However Pebblethefish’s side struggled after the break, and were pegged back to all square on 70 minutes. 2-2 was how it finished.
Invisible remain fourth in Division 6:41, ten points off the play-off spot and six ahead of the drop zone.

When Menywod Maeshafn first met Orangeries on Matchday 6 they had just one win to their names. By the return it was four on the spin and counting...
A big part of the reason for that change around has been the goalscoring exploits of midfielders Elodie van Hijde and Monalisa Corleone. These two were at it again for IsThactherDeadYet’s side in this one, van Hijde striking with a direct free-kick after 10 minutes and another on 62 and Corleone also finding the target after 79. It could have been more if Corleone hadn’t had an effort disallowed, though whether that or Orangeries wiped out goal from the opening half was influential on the result is very open to question.
Whatever the subjective, speculative opinion is, a fact is that though Maeshafn remain fourth in Division 6:55, they are so just two points behind the leaders and with serious momentum on their side.

For ages Dublin City Womens FC were without important games as they were too far adrift of their peers to have anything much riding on particular results. There is another way this can happen as well, if a side is crushing all before it. This is the territory that Dublin mostly find themselves occupying now, but a second against third clash with Slingers City Ladies was a different kettle of fish.
The hosts had a good opening half, forcing Mortal Joe’s girls back, denying them the ball and opening up a one goal lead. The second was more even, and in some ways Dublin shaded it. However without a goal to show for their efforts they were not going to avoid defeat. They didn’t.
So a first defeat since the opening day. It leaves Black Widow FC six points clear at the top and puts Dublin neck-and-neck with Slingers City for the play-off spot. Just +1 GD separates them currently, and does so in the Irish side’s favour.

Nice CR, four DJs which I think is a first for me. Lucky I got some prizemoney though as two key players retired. Fortunately no new ones announced they are going to.

The OTF relegation battle is heading towards a thrilling conclusion. Banik Roystonov's late winner over Athletico Deva last night moves them seven points clear of the drop zone and should be enough to secure safety, leaving five teams battling the drop. Elsewhere, Hideous Towns claimed an important and somewhat fortunate victory over Eriskay Expression to give them a little bit of breathing space, but Tonder BK lost ground after failing to make an impact against AFC Csiki Monkeys. Defeated Deva and Eriskay remain in the bottom three, and Nieuwegein Kneebiters held out until the last quarter of an hour at Vita Mortis, but then succumbed to a defeat that keeps them at the bottom.

                      Hideous Towns 2-1 Eriskay Expression
Tonder BK 0-0 AFC Csiki Monkeys
                      Banik Roystonov 2-1 Athletico Deva
                      Vita Mortis 2-0 Nieuwegein Kneebiters

                      Code:
                      Hideous 16 -4
                      Tonder 14 -7
                      -------------------
                      Deva 13 -13
                      Eriskay 12 -12
                      Nieuwegein 10 -7
                      Round 16

                      Hideous Towns v Dandy Towns
                      Tonder BK v Banik Roystonov
                      Amwythig Dragons v Athletico Deva
                      Eriskay Expression v Vita Mortis
Nieuwegein Kneebiters v AFC Csiki Monkeys

The bottom five play the top five. Tonder have the opportunity to pull away from the relegation zone against a Banik side that have only just put an end to a run of six consecutive defeats. Hideous, Deva and Eriskay play the three teams battling it out for the championship and will see any points gained as a bonus. Csiki Monkeys are the nearest the league has to a team with nothing to play for and so the Kneebiters may well fancy their chances of picking up a point or three.

                      Round 17

                      Athletico Deva v Hideous Towns
                      Tonder BK v Nieuwegein Kneebiters
AFC Csiki Monkeys v Eriskay Expression

Some crucial battles here. The Deva v Hideous clash could well decide which of them sits the wrong side of the line going into the final day, while a win for Tonder at home to the Kneebiters could well save them and seal their opponents' fate. Meanwhile, it will be Expression's turn to hope the Monkeys are already on their holidays.

                      Round 18

                      Amwythig Dragons v Hideous Towns
                      Eriskay Expression v Tonder BK
                      Vita Mortis v Athletico Deva
                      Nieuwegein Kneebiters v Banik Roystonov

If either or both of Hideous and Deva are in the bottom three before the final round of fixtures, they are surely fucked, with visits to the potentially title-chasing duo Amwythig and Mortis to contend with. If Tonder are still in the mix, they will face a tricky final test at fellow relegation candidates Eriskay, while the Kneebiters will be hopeful of making a bid for survival over a Banik side that should be at an advanced stage of relaxation.

A quick go at predicting the results suggests Tonder will be safe and there'll be hardly anything between the remaining four.

I remember a conversation from (maybe) a few months ago about our best rated players which as I recall was centred on whether any had reached a skill of 18 or something like that. Well, Concetto Aiardi of Bignor Roman Villa has just ticked up to 26/15 at the latest CR - he is by far and away the best player I've developed from scratch, having emerged from the YA as a 17/5. His 1st game of the new season will also be his 200th.

In the same team, Cosimo Colle's career is finally winding down - although he's not announced his retirement he did lose a skill bar and at 34 will be a back up only for next season. Not a bad option to have on the bench though - 11 goals last season and now has 120 total for BRV in 280 games (12 seasons).

The Curlies have a 16 goalie from the academy but I took over when he was a 20/8. Also a 17 midfielder but I bought him for shedloads as a 25/13

In case you're interested, by the way, those two FKs were quite historically significant:
Quental at the double to break record
Viking South Utsira find themselves back up to 2nd place in the topsy-turvy world of Division 3e for the first time in five weeks, after seeing off QPR in a game mystifyingly even more one-sided than the one they had lost to the same opposition three weeks earlier. This time it was all South Utsira, who took the lead through Heidi Hovland's 21st-minute strike and held it at 1-0 until just past the hour mark.

Then Lurdes Quental stepped up to make history. First the 35-year-old thumped a direct freekick past San van Nistelroolj to equal the all-time club goalscoring mark of 145 -- held by legendary former striker Britta Anderson, who had signed off a full 13 seasons earlier with a magnificent hat-trick in her final match against Lingonberga BK (now Djuped BK) in Division 6:51. All the great Swede's three goals that day were set up, fittingly, by Judit Partell who would go on to set a similarly unassailable-looking mark of 95 assists, and both Quental and Manuças Fudida (143 goals and counting) were playing alongside them in a side composed almost entirely of then- and future club legends, back when Viking were based in Angola as Africanas Mangolesas.

Quental would sit as co-holder of the record alongside Andersson for, as it turned out, merely six minutes. Then, remarkably, Viking were awarded a second freekick from a similar position to the first, and the Portuguese superstar promptly hammered home her 8th goal of the season to set a new outright club record of 146. Fudida was the first to congratulate her, and 48-year-old Andersson was herself seen applauding her onetime teammate from the Ragnar Rock stands.

Thierry Theydon Bois of United Underground is my best developer to date, and on a virtually identical trajectory to yours with Aiardi: 17/5 to 26/15 thus far in 205 games and counting. If he jumps at the coming CR in a couple of weeks then he'll be my out-and-out best private-leagues player, and equal best at any of my teams.

My next best private-leagues player might just be Mars Rovers goalkeeper Edwin Triton, who advanced to 28/15 last night, although I can't claim huge credit as I've only been there three and a half seasons.

The aforementioned Lurdes Quental (35) and fellow VSU midfielder Magda Fevereiro (31) are both 16-skilled, as is VNU midfielder Clive Whittingham (33) – and, more excitingly, defender Birger Klovning at only 26. He should become my first ever 17-skilled X11 player next season and at only 27 too, having started as a 17/5 academy prospect in February 2015.

Just uncovered a text document with all my teams' best (ever) players, actually, which probably ties in with that "conversation from a few months ago" you mention, SdR. Updating to reflect the current roster, it stands like this:

                              Viking North Utsire 16 (x2) – MF Clive Whittingham, D Birger Klovning. Also 3 x 15 currently (6 ever), 4 x 14.
                              Viking South Utsira 16 (x2) – MF Lurdes Quental, MF Magda Fevereiro. Also 2 x 15 currently, 4 x 14.
                              Mars Rovers 15 (x1) – GK Edwin Triton. Also 2 x 14 currently.
                              Royal Atlantis 14 (x1) – F Ali Khan, now a 13 again. Best currently 7 x 13.
                              Rædfearne Island 15 (x2) – D Shandman Greylash (ret.), D Keldo Ironcaster (ret.). Current: 2 x 14.
                              Sandringham Park Rovers 12 (x2) – D Lady Penelope Pitt-Stopp, F Hon. Anne Offa-Gaine.
                              Tiree Automatic 15 (x1) – MF Cameron Plymouth. Also 6 x 14 currently.
                              United Underground 15 (x1) – MF Thierry Theydon Bois. Also 5 x 14 currently.
Vita Mortis 14 (x4) – GK Wilbur Greenwood, D Brynjar Snorrarsson, MF Gregor Crompton, MF Ryan Threlfall.

A bit startling to realise that Atlantis are second-weakest only to Sandringham in this respect, and a fully established club in contrast with the latter's mere half-dozen seasons in The Human League. That lack of true class (notwithstanding that Ali Khan is my greatest ever X11 player in terms of his peerless productivity season-in, season-out) is really knackering us in the latter stages of each recent Heineken season in particular, where we've faded horribly in trying to get over the winning line while scrabbling for DV and trying to squeeze in all the developmental players. This season is proving to be another just the same, alas. Goodness knows how we'll fare in the top flight if we do make it up – quite possibly akin to Tiree Automatic's experience in the Xpert Zone, I fear...

Well, Tobermory and Hambledon have both had chastening experiences in their respective top-flight debuts, so I can sympathise with your sense of foreboding there. Legacy in particular have been a spectacular failure, and are consigned to naughty-boy nets for the foreseeable.

And yes, Underground will fly the flag in the MLX once again - semi final fixtures are now up.

VA, are you reading this? Amwythig would really really like to win the title. I'm sure your DV doesn't really need any more tweaking. ;-)

I thought it was the 25th, but no doubt someone will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong.
Sorry to see your 'l's going the same way as your 'o's, DM.... Your 'p's are ok, though, so presumably it's not a 'right side of keyboard' issue....
