Seeing this cut-price behemoth arrive as a consequence of how the unique Xpert Ladies transfer market looks in midseason, I decided to see what similar bargains might be up for sale right now, just for curiosity's sake.

Restricting the search parameters to players of 15+ skillbars, the following results show up. It's fair to say that a 'mixed' assortment of budgets are catered for:

Nice one VA - I've just bid on Lotta Fröling......

      Really?

I think (hope) you can complain to the Admin team if you receive one of these you consider offensive. I understand they will cull them. It's the women's names that are the worst part.

Huge dilemma in the Heineken. Just received an amazing youth talent: 19/6 midfielder, Headers, Speed, Free Kicks, Excellent compatibility. He's worth 8.4m and just what we needed.

BUT there are ten games left and his DV is 3. I want to play him every game and train him to the max but have to ask myself if I would settle for him as a 20/6.
He didn't jump, and was in fact always behind the eight ball Skill-wise. But Zemir Makarovic has been as much of a gem for Gloucester Old Spots as I hoped four years ago. As a 36/13 (that's as high as his bars ever got) and after 17 seasons, he's announced this will be his last. He'll be mainly benched now as the Spots hope to bed in a new 17-year-old to the midfield bloc.

Zemir has always been an all-rounder (not in the Jester sense) combining goals and assists such that all his seasonal awards bar one have been for points. But 109 goals and 67 assists, from a princely 343 games, has been a priceless contribution.

If any of you have spare quota we need one vacancy filled in the Human League - final friendly on the 16th. You would be very welcome.

I'm through to round two of the MLX cup, these things never happen.

In the Xpert Ladies I've picked up a 17/4 striker with some special qualities that I've forgotten for 80k ish, she arrived with a development value of 8. I've also bid 47k for an experienced defender, there are some bargains to be had if your squad has got decent development values and some space.

Great stuff, that was serendipitous then that I posted that random thing about the transfer market above!

Been meaning to ask here, having only noticed it the other day – has anyone else twigged what VT's latest renaming of his MLX side to Teulu Goleudy actually means? I thought it was a superb bit of under-the-radar smuggling.

A trip to the unbeaten league leaders is either daunting or a challenge to be embraced. Whatever the attitude of the team, that was the task that faced Viking South Utsira when they travelled to the DevilGod stadium to face Eternal Wars.
The hosts were not top by chance, they have a really strong team, but it was The Blood Eagles who took the game by the scruff of the neck. Velvet Android’s girls shaded the first half without scoring, and looked like they were going the same way in a more dominant second period up until they broke through in the 87th minute. The goal was a family affair, Kristin Hovland centring for sister Heidi to head home.
And with that, the Division 1a promotion race became extremely tight. Eternal Wars slipped from top to second and whilst VSU remain third they are now within striking distance of both the play-off and automatic promotion spots. And are also the team in form in the chase.

Free-falling Coxy Ladies Wulpen were not at the most promising venue to turn around an alarming slump in form as they travelled to leaders Kongo BK.
Early goals for Kongo on 11 and 20 minutes had them two ahead and prompted Waders manager Janik to flounce from the stadium. He missed his side battling on gamely, but not making any inroads. Kongo added a third from the spot in stoppage time to seal the deal.
Elsewhere in the same section Drakaina were at Loftus Road to take on struggling Q.P.R Ladies.
The Hoops went ahead in the 12 minutes, and when they fired they ball past San van Nistelrooij again just four minutes later we had the sight of another manager leaving in high dudgeon, Etienne not even sticking around to check whether referee Ann Onym had any problems with this second goal.
If he had remained he would have found that she did, and that The Dragons remained within scorching distance of their hosts. It was something they took advantage of as a first half in which Drakaina had had more of the ball but slightly less of the chances turned into a second-half Greek onslaught. One that was swiftly rewarded with an equaliser for Sandrine Petit on 51 minutes and then a go-ahead goal by Susanna Barry on 65.
That would be all Drakaina would score, but also all they needed as they retained their second spot in the Division 4i table, behind Kongo on goal difference. Wulpen, meanwhile, stay fifth, two points ahead of QPR. The OTF sides meet for the second time this season next week.

Erbil were on the road to a somewhat confusing opponent in Renegades Ladies, who combined a Heavy Metal flavoured kit with an unnecessarily overtly feminine stadium name in The Beauty Parlour. I give that 2/10 overall.
The teams were separated by just goal difference at the start of play, but the game didn’t look like two nearly identical sides as Erbil dominated. Mellissa James headed an opener for Jdsx’s side on 22 minutes and then turned provider when she crossed for Sharyn Bullock to double the advantage six minutes before the break.
Renegades pulled one back on the hour mark, very much against the run of play, but it didn’t take long for Erbil to re-establish their control, James’ corner two minutes later being headed home by Sabina Granå. That was just Granå’s second ever goal in pushing 200 career appearances, all for Erbil (or at least at this franchise).
Victory kept Erbil third in Division 5:16, a point off the play-offs and now just four adrift of the leaders who were held to a draw this week.

Some recent struggles made Sockford Emollient’s match with bottom-of-the-table Luculenus LFC feel like a must-win one for The Gatorsharks.
The same was also true of their opponents, more so in fact, but it was Emollient who struck first when Alexia Batistuta raced clear to open the scoring after 14 minutes. Batistuta thought she had made it two seconds after the interval, only to be denied by referee Manuel Ficu’s whistle. This merely delayed the clincher for Foxy265’s girls, which eventually arrived on 70 minutes, Maci Conrad heading home.
The win lifts the Framleyshire outfit out of the Division 5:20 relegation zone. But only just, as they now sit fifth, and only by goal difference.

Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC would have expected to beat basement dwellers Glada Märsta Ladies despite the match being on the road.
SeanoftheShed’s charges had an early scare when Glada Märsta had the ball in their net in the 8th minute, only for ref Warren Peace to rule it out. Spurred on by a determination not to suffer the same worry, The Sea Spirits netted a three goal burst in the latter part of the opening half. Cindy Prins nodded the first on 26 minutes, Leila Azeite doubled the lead three minutes later and Prins added a near identical effort to her opener with 40 on the clock.
With that the game was won, and the second-half turned into a chanceless non-event.
The opposite challenge faced Solent Sirens as they were tasked with getting something at leaders Mawenzi.
Solent put in a battling defensive performance, holding Mawzeni for the opening half-hour. At that point the main home striker suffered a horror injury. That could have put her side off, but instead the sub who came on scored two minutes later.
The Sirens kept trying, but were trying and conceded again on the hour and after 78 minutes. One more was added in the last ten from the spot, which was rather unfair on the effort put in by Andrew7610’s side.
The result meant few changes in the Division 5:21 table. Kanjeng did climb a place to second (on goal difference) after the previous holders of that spot, Red Dead Heads, suffered a surprise defeat. They trail Mawzeni by five points, whilst at the other end of the table Solent are sixth, five points adrift of Flick of the Wrist and safety.

Menywod Maeshafn had lifted themselves to level on points with the Division 5:28 leaders prior to their visit to a Juventus Ladies F.C. who propped up the table.
Juve are not a useless side though, and in true Old Lady tradition were pretty tight defensively. With Maeshafn also being far from free-scoring, that did raise the possibility of a rather dull occasion. And so it proved, IsThatcherDeadYet’s girls making most of the running there was, which in truth wasn’t all that much. Just three shots in fact, none of them scoring.
The draw saw Maeshafn fall two points back from 5:28’s leading pair, though they do remain third in the standings. The blank scoreline also left the Welsh side with both the meanest defence and least potent attack in their section!

We move on to Csiki Girls hoping for more excitement. They were taking on S Team as they looked to keep the pressure up on the one side above them.
The first meeting of the sides a few weeks ago wasn’t a hopeful harbinger as it had finished goalless, but digging into more detail shows Csiki Girls created enough that day to have scored a couple but were just lacking a radar on their shots. They sorted that out within the opening half-hour of this one, Saoirse McInns firing home on 21 minutes and Carlota Igreja bursting through for a second after 28.
The visitors had a fair amount of possession but few chances. They did give Csiki’s manager ad hoc a few nervous minutes by pulling one back against the run of play after 72 minutes, the match remaining in the balance until Elly Granheim headed a third in stoppage time.
Victory kept Csiki Girls hot on the heels of Division 5:31 leaders Cowgirls IF. The A kertem are a point adrift, but have a goal difference that is +5 superior. They are also comfortably the Divisional top scorers, their 15 in 9 games being well ahead of the next best of 11. It’s a pretty drab section, really. The gap from The Csiki’s back to third is a handy five points.

LNWR Locomotive are something of a runaway train at the moment [how come I’ve not sued that one before?!?]. The latest side to try and halt this enormous momentum were Sunhilla Ladies FC.
The Mollington Street visitors actually did a fairly good job of this, giving up possession to The Steamers but also staying tight at the back and occasionally catching Viktor Boskovic’s side on the counter. They actually had four chances to Locomotive’s two in the match, but at times on X11 a side heading towards promotion takes on a certain relentlessness and that was the case here as LNWR’s second and final shot of the day, a Lisa Ryman effort from a corner on the hour, found its way home for the game’s only goal. It was The Steamers sixth successive league win.
It would prove to be a bittersweet afternoon for Ryman as she suffered a 14-day injury late on, which is the sort of injury that is hard for a 35 year-old veteran to come back from. The Steamers will need her for the Division 6:33 run-in though, as whilst their lead over second-placed Stoke City Ladies is handy, at five points with five to play it is far from decisive.

Rising Ullapool Northern Star took on Special Ladies, who came into the game seeming pretty second-rate as they were without a point to their name this season.
Northern Star made short work of their substandard opponents, rattling in four unanswered goals. Zebela Barkho got the opener from a worked free-kick routine on 16 minutes, before Mary-Leslie Mair made it two with a long range strike on 33. That was a first career goal for Mair, coming on her senior debut. Mair is a late developer, only making her breakthrough in the professional game aged 20, but a good one as she arrives to the senior ranks already operating at a grade 6 level. She looks like a highly promising prospect for the Ross and Cromarty outfit.
Delicatemoth’s side kept the intensity up after the break, adding further strikes by Beatrice Steck (header) on 56 minutes and a second of the day for Barkho (from distance) on 72. The win lifted Ullapool up to third in the Division 6:36 standings, level on points with second-placed Arsenal LFC. The leaders are long gone.

It seems this was a week with many tough assignments for OTF teams, and that number included Invisible Ladies who travelled to (then) Division 6:39 leaders MSV Duisburg Damen.
The See-Throughs were on the back foot for most of the match, and though they did create a couple of chances of their own a tough struggle became a forlorn one when Duisburg struck twice in the first half.
Pebblethefish’s side should probably be happy that they kept it to just two, which was enough to displace their opponents from top spot on goal difference. However with the four sides ahead of Invisible at the start of play all winning, it does leave The See-Throughs probably too far back to realistically contemplate getting into this season’s promotion race. They stay fifth, but are now seven points adrift of the top three, and six behind fourth.

Week 9 brought a vital game in the chase for the Division 6:40 play-off spot as Witches of Chiswick travelled to Marselle.
The Bewitched were just a point adrift of their hosts at the start of play and with a better goal difference so were looking for a win to jump ahead of possibly a draw to stay within touching distance. However things didn’t go to plan for Wiblflibl’s side as Marselle put in a good first half that was capped by a direct free-kick strike on 33 minutes to give them a deserved half-time lead.
When that advantage was doubled seconds after the restart, Chiswick had a mountain to climb. They began to ascend when Tomiko Matzuoka burst through to pull one back on 81 minutes, but ultimately ran out of light and had to abandon the attempt.
The unconquered peak had consequences as The Bewitched now find themselves four points adrift of the play-off spot and eight behind the leaders. Improving on the current third place will be difficult.
Also a note from elsewhere in this Division:- one of the games produced the highest combined score I’ve ever seen on X11 as Zenit Odenplan Ladies won 7-5 at AC Gemelas 1903. I think the Zenit bosses response is valid.

Building up the bank account remains the priority for GGW FC ahead of their rebrand to something more wholesome.
They are improving though as SouthdownRebel’s influence rubs off despite himself. Second-placed MONTPELLIER HERAULT S C definitely found them hard to break down. It took until the 40th minute for the hosts to score. They added another early in the second-half which sealed the points, but that was it for entries on the scoresheet. And all that despite GGW having just 31% possession in the game.
Elsewhere in the same section something rather more dynamic was expected of Zeugma Dostluk Spor against FC Unicorn.
Zeugma were looking to preserve their status as league leaders, and took the lead 5 minutes in when Juliana Sales struck. However Unicorn responded in the 16th minute and that was how the score remained until Ana Raquel Pedroso put Antepli Ejderha’s side in front on the stroke of half-time.
Raquel Pedroso’s goal came after a corner had caused confusion in the Unicorn box, and the same route provided the killer third on 58 minutes, Rachel Forsyth the player to profit this time from hesitation in the away defence.
There was no change at all in the Division 6:53 table after this round of matches. That means Zeugma stay top, five points clear of MONTPELLIER, and now 13 ahead of third after the team holding that spot lots. Zeugma also remain 100% in the league this season. GGW, meanwhile, stay seventh, two points ahead of the only side below them.

Dublin City WFC also boasted a 100% record ahead of their visit to struggling Secunda FC.
Unfortunately it looks like boss Mortal Joe was unable to make this game and also not able to get his tactical instructions across to his side in time. That left the Dublin girls organising themselves. 11 of them made the trip, and they were doing alright up until Coral Batty suffered a 26-day horror injury on 33 minutes.
Clearly Batty was unable to keep playing, leaving Dublin planless and down to ten. The inevitable happened as the hosts struck twice to consign the 100% start to history. Pity.
Hopefully the defeat won’t prove too costly, as despite it Dublin are still seven points clear of Division 6:56’s chasing pack. As long as to much momentum hasn’t been lost, this should just be a blip. Losing Batty for weeks will also hurt though, and it’s vital to get back to winning ways straightaway in their next game against Black Widow.

The X11 Ladies Cup, Round 6.

                              Viking win 7-6 on pens
Viking South Utsira were looking to take their flying form in the league into the Cup when they faced Division 3 outfit Babuskare.
As a side pushing for promotion to the top flight, The Blood Eagles are definite dark horses for the whole shebang. However this would prove a tough test of their credentials. They shaded territory and chances throughout the match, but only shaded; it was pretty even really.
There was a major scare for the travelling Norwegian horde when Babuskare had the ball in the net on 68 minutes until ref Hans Grüber rode to the rescue. That kept the match scoreless, which was how it stayed through 90 minutes and then extra-time. A penalty shoot out to decide things then.
Viking were taking first, and were swiftly in the driving seat when Magda Fevereiro’s opener was not matched by Babuskare’s first taker. Lurdes Quental, Moa Jönsson and Loba Deparvada all converted to have Velvet Android’s side on the brink of progress at 4-2. Could Julie Alme save the fourth Babuskare effort? No. OK, it’s down to Asta Austrheim to fire her side through. Except she can’t do it. Right, another chance for Alme to spare her blushes... No! *gulp*
Now we were on to sudden death, and those takers who hadn’t stepped forward when the bosses asked “Who wants to take one”. The first reluctant striker was Birgit Austrheim, which raised the spectre of one family being entirely to blame... until she scored. Babuskare responded, as they also did following Bergljot Kvalvik’s seventh kick. Britta Klovning converted the eighth to take the score to 7-6, at which point Alme found herself facing her opposite number, Pia Piittala. Alme may be getting expelled from the Goalkeepers Union as she saved her colleagues effort to send Utsira through. *phew*
Having scraped to survival, VSU will be looking to make the most of it when they take on St.Hallvards IF of Division 4k in the last 16.

Haha, as ever Janik I'm indebted to you for letting me know who I'm playing in the next round. I know St.Hallvards' name very well but don't think we've ever met. Purely based on their current league position it sounds an easier draw than we might have had, but I'll reserve judgement until after I've had a look at them...

Yes, that shootout was nerve-wracking in the extreme. I was convinced each of our last few takers were going to miss; they had the superior goalie by three skillbars, I think, so the fact that she herself missed the crucial kick was extra cathartic.

In theory, it should never have reached that point. You might notice Manuças Fudida did not play as she's dreadfully out of form – we have no money whatsoever to deal with the ongoing red-arrow crisis across the squad so the veterans are falling by the wayside a little. (Arguably we'd be better off had we gone out of the Cup, instead of struggling on fighting on two fronts for at least another week.) Nevertheless I'd set up my subs such that she would come on at the end of extra time to take a penalty if required – so imagine my bafflement and horror when the substitution did not take place. If I remember our current order of preference, she'd have taken the second pen, after Magda Fevereiro, and if she'd scored then all else being equal we'd have won it with our regulation five kicks: Asta, who missed, would've only been the sixth in line. Mercifully though my completely untested seventh-, eighth- and ninth-choice takers came through in the clinch!

The league win at Eternal Wars last Tuesday was one of our finest performances, so that was really satisfying. Alas I didn't get to 'experience' it fully, as I'd only set tactics just before the game then unthinkingly went to have a look at what our current run of results was... not noticing that by the time I clicked onto our Matches page it was 15 or 20 seconds past 4:30pm, so the result had already been simulated and added to the top of the list. So the emotional rollercoaster lasted only as long as it took me to clock it and blurt out, "Bloody hell, we won!". It's certainly left the table in a very interesting state as we enter the last month of the season.

My 31/12 defender arrived for 47k with 7 development value already, I think this late season transfer dabble could become a habit but I'll leave it at two this time.

Really? She played 90 minutes today and gained no development value but had a solid game. My other signing gained 1 DV. I'm now 10 from 10 so they'll both hopefully get 4 games plus friendlies before the season ends.

The latest stage of Viking South Utsira push for promotion to the top flight saw them taking on G--- FC (censored).
The first half was worrying for Blood Eagles fans as the visitors, who are struggling near the foot of the table, had the better of the play. However a strong teamtalk from boss Velvet Android appeared to do the trick as Viking came out transformed in the second-half, despite the loss of defender Lina Hovland to a 7-day injury just after the break.
The name Hovland would dominate matters, as the games two decisive moments were provided by two of Lina’s cousins, Kristin Hovland turning in a 78th minute corner and Heidi Hovland heading in a cross in stoppage time to wrap things up. To further emphasis the family nature of Football in Utsira, the assists came from the Austrheim sisters, Birgit swinging over the corner for the first and Asta zipping in the delivery that Heidi Hovland powered home for the clincher.
There was further good news for VSU from elsewhere in Division 1a as leaders Spearwives of Ygritte fell to a shock defeat that dropped them to third in the table. The Blood Eagles are now in second, one point behind new leaders Eternal Wars and one point ahead of Ygritte.

The second OTF derby of the season in Division 4i took place at Delphi as Drakaina hosted Coxy Ladies Wulpen.
The sides came into the game on very different form, The Dragons having collected 12 points from their previous 5 games compared to Wulpen’s 2 points during the same period. 8 minutes in, and it looked like that trend was going to continue when Florica Vulturescu burst clear of the visitors defence. Vulturescu tried to slip the ball to Sarah Assleman’s right, but The Waders stopper managed to get her leg to it and kick it away.
Coxy Ladies needed everything to go their way if they want to get something from the day. They also really needed the first goal, followed by a long period until the second. The first bit of this appeared to happen on 25 minutes as Charlotte Beyen’s through pass split the Drakaina defences and put Laetitia Vandenbergh in the clear; Vandenbergh rounded home goalie Anastasia Shkolnikova and tapped home, only to be brought back by a dubious offside flag.
As noted, Janik’s side needed to get the breaks. Having had one go against them, they promptly folded, the Greeks striking twice in quick succession in the dying minutes of the first half. The opener came on 38 minutes, Elena Gitsis finishing a sweeping move with a well-placed shot. The second was particularly galling source for the travelling fans as former Wader and Koksijde native Sandrine Petit once again scored against her hometown club, whose youth system she came through. Petit’s goal was a header and arrived two minutes before the break.
Coxy Ladies fans spent the interval muttering about manager Janik’s past transfer decisions, but did have something more positive to shout for as the players he has retained created openings on 50 and 52 minutes. Betsy Dudley had the first of these, but her sidefoot shot lacked the bite of placement to even vaguely trouble Shkolnikova. Two minutes later Beyen did have the ‘keeper scrambling, but though her well-placed shot beat the stopper it also went just past the post for a goalkick.
The hosts then took up the baton again, Siliva Atum opting for power over placement and thumping a 58th minute header into the crowd. Susanna Barry showed her teammate how it was done six minutes after that, going for a flick instead that nestled in the far corner. By now Etienne’s Dragons were feeling very confident, to the point of trying a trick free-kick routine midway through the half; the ball was flicked up, Grace Winter half-volleyed, but it went wide of the goal.
There was to be one more entry on the scoresheet in stoppage time, Barry getting her second of the day with a driven shot. 4-0 was a bit harsh on Wulpen, but the victory for Drakaina was well merited. Those three points keep them hot on the heels of leaders Kongo BK, with just goal difference separating the two. With four games to play, it’s basically become a head-to-head for automatic promotion (with a consolation of the paly-offs) as the gap from second to third is seven points. Meanwhile the gap from third to sixth is just a single point, which is good news for Wulpen who now occupy the latter position.

Expectations would have been high amongst the Erbil players prior to their match at Starlight Ladies, what with Erbil being unbeaten and their hosts having just a point to their names all season.
Erbil certainly played like they expected to win, having the majority of the ball and the first half chances. However that does give rise to a touch of complacency and Jdsx’s team got caught out when Starlight took the lead against the run of play on 33 minutes. That sharpened the visitors up and they levelled on the cusp of halftime when Saga Isgren fizzed home a direct free-kick.
Erbil continued to probe for a second after the break, and got their reward halfway through the half when Mellissa James fired home. Six mintues later Isgren struck her second direct free-kick of the match to make the points safe.
The win saw Erbil climb a spot into second in the Division 5:16 standings.

Sockford Emollient faced a tough challenge as they travelled to promotion chasing Girls Aloud.
By this stage of the season momentum is already locked in, and getting something from days like these proves difficult. What is required is scoring first, and that is precisely what The Gatorsharks didn’t manage as Girls Aloud went ahead on 6 minutes.
The match remained in the balance until the hosts added a second on 57 minutes. Once that went in however, it was just damage limitation for Foxy265’s side. The eventual total was four as Girls Aloud struck again on 83 and 90.
Despite the loss, Sockford remain outside the Division 5:21 drop zone. Just. Their goal difference is +4 better than the side behind them in sixth (or rather the side below is -4 worse).

Round 10 brought a vital game for Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC as they visited a Red Dead Heads side only behind The Sea Spirits on goal difference.
Cindy Prins got SeanoftheShed’s side off to a great start when she headed home the opener in the 9th minute. That was an advantage Kanjeng held until the interval, but not for long after it as the game went into overdirve. First, seconds after the restart, Red Dead equalised, and just 4 minutes later they were ahead. However that lead didn’t last long either as Leila Azeite levelled with a direct free-kick on 56 minutes.
Still the burst of scoring wasn’t done as just two minutes later Prins picked out young midfielder Sri Malahayati, who showed nerves of ice to coolly convert her opportunity. And with that, just as suddenly as the scoring had started, it stopped again. There were no more goals to be had as The Sea Goddesses held on for their win.
That wasn’t the only vital match in this section as there was also a key encounter going on at Mayfield Park where Solent Sirens took on Flick of the Wrist.
The sides started the match next to each other in the table, but separated by five points and with the relegation diving line running down the middle of that. A win for Solent would mean getting right back into contention; a win for Flick of the Wrist would pretty well decide the relegation spots here and now.
For most of the game, the latter seemed the more likely. Flick of the Wrist dominated the first half and could have lead by more than 1-0 at the break. They continued to press after the interval, but having not added to it began to fall back and invite Andrew7610’s Sirens on to them [which is a bit of a role reversal, isn’t it?]. The greater threat provided an equalising goal for the hosts on 76 minutes as Simone de Beauvoir’s long range thunderbolt found the target.
Solent pushed for a winner but couldn’t get it, so will have to be happy with a point that keeps their Division 5:21 survival hopes flickering. They sit five points adrift with four to play. Kanjeng, meanwhile, are second, three points and -5 GD behind leaders Mawzeni, but three points and +4 GD ahead of third-placed Red Dead Heads.

Second against third was the order of the day when Menywod Maeshafn travelled to Harley Quinns.
The Welsh side were looking for a result to leapfrog their hosts in the table, but it all went wrong in a first-half where Maesahfn had no luck. Three times Harley Quinns had a sight of Hannele Sundvall’s goal, and three times they scored.
Maeshafn had actually had more of the ball in the opening 45 minutes, and they repeated that after the break but also added five shots to one. Simone Kjellberg pulled one back on 58 minutes, and if her second of the day on 82 minutes had stood we might have been in for a grandstand finish. But Laura Norder ruled it out, as IsThactherDeadYet’s side paid for their poor start.
The deaf left a what-might-have-been feeling as the winners moved top of the Division 5:28 standings. Maeshafn, meanwhile, slipped to fourth, five points off the top, three off the play-off and four ahead of the drop zone.

It’s been a good season so far for Csiki Girls, who were looking to maintain their strong form (unbeaten, just three goals conceded) when they travelled to SC Agroi.
The Csiki’s started the stronger, taking the lead midway through the first half when Carlota Igreja was on hand to turn in Afton Sheerin’s pass. The visitors received another boost towards the end of the opening half when the hosts were reduced to 10 men after a wild challenge by Ulla Knutsson on Elly Granheim saw Knutsson shown a straight red card. There was a slight downside to this as the challenge left Granheim limping. She may have been able to play on, but Csiki’s manager Ad Hoc to replace her as a precaution; Granheim will be recover long before her side’s next match.
Csiki Girls used their numerical superiority to turn the screw after the break, creating a number of chances and putting the game to bed when Ellie Clevan headed a second just past the hour mark. Making a good day better for Csiki Girls was the news that previous leaders of Division 5:31, Cowgirls IF, had been beaten at home, a result that combined with the one from Agroi to send the Csiki’s top. They have a two point and +10 GD advantage on second, and a further three points on third.

Division 6:33 leaders LNWR Locomotive were strong favourites for their match with a Quinna BK side that was bumping along towards the bottom of the table.
The Mollington Street crowd didn’t have long to wait for The Steamers to clank into motion, Corália Vilhena heading an opener after 12 minutes and Tekla Severinsson waltzing through the Quinna defence for a second with 20 on the clock. A second headed from Vilhena on the stroke of half-time completed an extremely good opening 45 minutes for Viktor Boskovic’s charges.
The 3-0 lead allowed Locomotive to conserve fuel and coast to their destination in the second half. It also provided the opportunity for some DV gathering, though this didn’t go entirely according to plan as four minutes after the final two subs had been made introducing youngsters to the fray, one of them, Tamar Giragosian, picked up a 10-day knock that forced her from the field.
LNWR played out the ten-plus minutes undermanned with no real scares, the win maintaining their five point advantage over chasers Stoke city Ladies XI and extending the gap to the pack to ten points.

When Ullapool Northern Star’s reward from their long trip south to take on Maidstone Ladies in week 5 was a comprehensive 3-0 defeat, it looked like the newly formed Ross-shire club were in for a season of adjustment and squad rebuilding. However four straight wins since then had lifted delicatemoth’s side past their Kent opponents and right into contention for the play-offs.
That meant the pressure was on all the visitors when the sides met for the second time at Minchview. And by that I mean both metaphorical pressure, and on-pitch stuff as Northern Star battered their visitors. Chance after chance went the Scots way, the 1-0 interval advantage courtesy of Mary-Leslie Mair’s 15th minute header the least they deserved.
Ullapool appear to have unearthed a superstar in Mair, who, on only her second ever appearance for the side and as a pro, took her goals tally to three when she doubled the advantage six minutes into the second-half. Mair’s more experienced strike partner, Sonia Menashi, added a third on 63 minutes following which Ullapool cruised to victory.
The fifth win on a spin has done more than raise confidence in the team among the locals, it has also lifted Northern Star up into the Division 6:36 play-off spot. They hold a two point advantage over the sides in third and fourth, and with matches against both still to play whether they get to the showdown is in their own hands.

Invisible Ladies chances of elevation this term looked like they suffered a terminal blow last time out, but whilst there is life, there’s hope so a win against a Villa Lionesses side that propped up the Division 6:40 table was still worth seriously chasing.
The match would prove to be rather a stalemate, with The San Seethrough crowd failing to see a shot attempted in the entire opening 45 minutes. Invisible Ladies were dominating possession, having nearly two-thirds of the ball, but were finding their visitors annoyingly hard to get through. Pebblethefish’s side finally created their first chance of the match on 58 minutes when a cleverly disguised pass put Beáta Nádasdy through on goal, Nádasdy keeping her cool to finish. Which was fortunate because as well as being the first chance of the game, this also proved to be the last!
A performance of ultimate efficiency, then. And three points that keep The See-Throughs fifth in the table, seven points behind the top two. However with lots of games to come between the four sides ahead of them, there is a chance that they could sneak back into the picture yet...

Week 10 saw Witches of Chiswick take on Perfect Ladies.
The visitors gave lie to their name by propping up the table, and were swiftly two behind as Natalie Mercier fired in from distance on 8 minutes and Sarah Altstrand from 12 yards after Robert Nixon had pointed to the spot in the 20th. It seemed like a question of how many as The Bewitched dominated both possession and chances, but then on 58 minutes and completely against the run of play, Perfect Ladies pulled on e back.
That made things rather more jumpy for Chiswick boss Wiblflibl than he might have expected. The nightmare scenario was that a Perfect Ladies player also got the next goal, which was precisely what happened in the 82nd minute... except Stacey Mair poked the ball past her own ‘keeper rather than Miyuki Kurihawa! With a cushion now restored, The Bewitched pushed on and added a fourth in stoppage time when 19 year-old Ginko Sugano headed home her first career strike.
The win kept Chiswick third in Division 6:40, but with a four point gap to the side in second they are relying on other results if they want to make the play-offs.

And on to our performance art project as GGW FC took on FC Unicorn in their latest game.
Not much to say about this one, save that Unicorn scored three in the first hour and then were happy, and that GGW didn’t have a shot all match. I hope SouthdownRebel’s piggy bank is filling up nicely?
It’s all rather different for the other OTFer in this section as Zeugma Dostluk Spor power towards the title. The latest leaf to brush out of the way was London Lovers.
This was mostly done with a whirlwind first half performance that saw Zeugma have 60% possession and create 8 chances to 0. The reward in terms of goals was slightly on the low side, but Juliana Sales and Rachel Forsyth did register on 17 and 25 minutes respectively.
Sales added a third on 54 minutes which meant the match was essentially won and allowed Antepli Ejderha ‘s side to ease off and allow their capital opponents a few shots of no relevance.
That victory kept the Turkish side top of Division 6:53 by five points, with an additional +10 GD in their advantage. It also secured at least a play-off berth as the gap back to fourth is now fourteen points. Meanwhile GGW remain seventh, but saw their advantage over bottom side Super Ladies cut from two to one points as Super Ladies claimed an unexpected second point of the season.

Zeugma retain a 100% record so far, which was also true of Dublin City WFC prior to a defeat with manager Mortal Joe seemingly absent last week. His side was looking to bounce back from that this time around when they travelled to Black Widow FC.
The game didn’t start well for Dublin as Black Widow’s first shot of the day on 20 minutes put them in front. Veronica Kåmark thought she had levelled on 47 minutes only for Like Bribe to disagree, at which point the Dubs fans in the crowd begun to suspect it wasn’t to be their day. Those fears were confirmed when Widow added two more late on to make the final reckoning 3-0, which is inordinately harsh on a 4-2 chances and 55-45% possession match.
Despite the loss, Dublin remain top of Division 6:56 and indeed clear of the pack as they still hold a four point advantage on second. However it is now becoming rather urgent to win a game and getting some of the lost momentum back.

The X11 Ladies Cup, Round 7. The last 16.

                                              E.Klovning 49' Pedersen 94'
                                              K.Hovland 77'
Just four more matches stood between Viking South Utsira and a first ever trophy as they waited to take on Division 4 outfit St.Hallvards IF.
The first major incident of the game was a serious blow to Viking’s chances as veteran superstar Lurdes Quental was scythed down. She needed serious on-field treatment and only departed on a stretcher, with the Hallvards player lucky to only see yellow. The resulting damage puts Quental out for 21 days, which might be season ending for a 37 year-old. Bloody metropolitan elites (Hallvards hail from Oslo).
The first half was goalless and chanceless as The Blood Eagles rode the loss to keep their shape, but possession was heavily tipped in the Islanders favour. That advantage in terms of control of the ball was mimicked on the scoreboard after 49 minutes when Emilie Klovning drove home the opener. Velvet Android’s side continued to hog the ball after that, and got a deserved second on 77 minutes from a pleasing source as Quental’s replacement, Kristin Hovland, rose to head home.
Hallvards pulled one back, but this came so late into stoppage time, 94 minutes, that it was never going to be more than a consolation as Utsira matched their previous best run in the Cup of reaching the last eight. That came five years ago, and it can be surpassed if Viking can beat fellow Division 1a side Mighty Aphrodite, the match coming just three days before the pair are meant to meet in the league.

Great work Janik. I almost wish we'd gone out of the Cup, our finances are in a staggeringly awful state and our DVs are threatening to implode with so many red arrows I can't afford to turn around. Lurdes' crocking has reduced her to 0 form and could hasten the end of her career, but Manuças Fudida could well be heading the same way for much less dramatic reasons – she's simply been caught in a form 'death spiral' recently and I've had to prioritise spending the few econs on training younger players every time, so she hasn't played at all lately and is down to 0 too. It's so frustrating as she'd done well previously this season, we're still in the Cup QFs and somehow challenging for promotion to the top flight, but with a run of away games to finish with I expect to see us plunge back into midtable very soon and I imagine our old foes Aphrodite will do for us in the semis before probably repeating the trick in the league merely days later. My main hope is just to hold the DVs together against the odds until the end of the campaign.

If ad hoc's reading, are your relations OK? Only just twigged, after seeing both Wednesday de la Zouch and Lokomotiv Noj suffered 6-0 home defeats on Thursday, neither Noj nor the Carrotmen have logged in in a month now. Hope all is all right with them.

A mighty performance from you to get to the quarter finals, do you have any players for sale? That way I can lend you some cash. I'm serious btw.
