Buying your unhinged father a pistol for Christmas*.

        (*Very specific, that one.)

I should add that this clearly includes 'getting punched into the middle of next week (or worse) by irate parent of groupie in question'.

Drinking and driving - Was Gloria Jones ever held to be culpable for the crash that killed Bolan?

Forgetting you're several feet off the ground.

Take a bow Steven Tyler. On second thoughts better not

Backstreet hair plugs for the ol' male pattern baldness.
Skiing into a tree...actually, Jah has this covered off quite well I think.

                    T. Raumschmiere - who doesn't seem to realise that water and electricity don't mix (judging by his performance at the Mute 'Short Circuit' festival at the Roundhouse).

(This is early on in the set, before he started pouring water all over himself ...and everything else in a 10ft radius. I'm just out of shot to the left.)

Is this a Marvin Gaye reference? If so, I never knew that he'd bought his father the gun. Makes an already tragic story even more tragic.

I tried - and failed - to find a video of John Otway doing this ...and landing on his back, wrapped in microphone cable. That's gotta hurt! Funny as hell, though!

Jones avoided trial because the Mini was deemed to have been 'inefficiently serviced' just a few weeks previously. (Somehow, the garage responsible was never charged with negligence, either.)

Viz Robert Johnson, he drank from a poisoned bottle of whisky that had been doctored by said husband - dying some three days later from its effects.

It is indeed Marvin and Marvin Sr - the latter shooting the star the day before his 45th birthday.

(Pretty sure I covered stack amps upthread, but what the hey...)

Swinging from chandeliers and jumping through windows, of course.

Iggy Pop smashed his front teeth stagediving onto nobody.

Having friends who would spike your drink with LSD, which happened to two Beatles and their wives in 1965. It shows the difference in times because I assume today that the spiker would be hauled off to jail.

                                Being friends with Keith Moon.

Shagging Charles Manson's cult members then promising to record his songs.

On the spiked LSD story, I remember hearing that Phil Lynott gave Geldof a line of heroin saying it was coke (10 years before pulp fiction ) and then tried to hit on Paula Yates while the hapless Boomtown Rat was puking in the jacks, and Phil always looked like such a nice guy!

Terrorvisions #1 "Tequila" was inspired by a session on said drink which ended up with Tony Wright jumping over a wall, not noticing that there was a six foot drop on the other side and breaking both ankles.

Jumping in their Uncle's illegal sports car, encountering a gleaming alloy air-car two lanes wide (then another), racing towards a one-lane bridge and then falling asleep by a fire.

                                          Irresponsible.
