I'm guessing Ronnie and Arnie get a pass?

      Here's an extensive international list

Or are you only looking for politicians who became actors?

Trump is in Home Alone 2, no? Unfortunately Brenda 'takes it up the' Fricker doesn't set her pigeon army on him.

Fred Dalton Thompson is the one I always peg for this, though his turns in Die Hard 2 and Hunt For Red October predate his political career.

As does Rupert Murdoch, calling himself a tyrant in a rare moment of self-awareness.

Richard Branson is in the London episode of Friends, running a souvenir stall.

And Bush Snr and Gorbachev, of course, though I don't think they played themselves.

I'm looking for politicians who did cameos or maybe a little more (a full episode, say), but not really ones "who became actors" in the sense of second careers.

I remember Michael Dukakis appearing in a US sitcom in the eighties as himself. Was it Cheers?

That was probably the most wooden acting I've ever seen in a major television programme. Branson also had a non-speaking cameo in Casino Royale.

Recall seeing in the Guardian last year that Hillary Clinton had appeared in some New York based comedy.

PM Stephen Harper turned up in a couple of episodes of Corner Gas back in the day. It was quite good.

Mark Cuban was in an episode of Billions a couple of weeks ago.

Rudi Giuliani has a cameo at the end of Anger Management when Adam Sandler basically thanks him for his leadership response to 9/11. It was cringe long before Giuliani became a laughing stock.

The series has had cameos by several real-life political figures, including then Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Barbara Boxer, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Senator John McCain, Michelle Obama, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and Senators Olympia Snowe, Cory Booker, and Orrin Hatch.

Example of an entreprenuer - Steve Wozniak had a role on The Big Bang Theory where he was referred to as The Great and Powerful Woz.

Elon Musk is in an episode of Big Bang as well, helping out at a soup kitchen.

John Kerry appeared in Cheers in the days when he was a Massachusetts senator.
Ex-Labour frontbencher Michael Meacher appears and gives a speech in Edge Of Darkness.

If we open this to 'public figures' then Salman Rushdie in Bridget Jones' Diary counts.

If music videos count, I remember Neil Kinnock looking awkward and embarrassed in a Tracy Ullman video.
