And Middlesex are docked two points for slow over rate in the match against Surrey.

Which was abandoned when someone shot crossbow bolts into the Oval.

        Uncontested toss, War 8/0.

Porter continuing his rich vein of form. Hain and Trott both taken, 12/2 and Ian Bell comes to the crease.

Harmer drops one at slip - regulation low one, reminiscent of Cook's drop in the Test the other day.

Middlesex v Hampshire: no play today due to a wet outfield.

Lovely swinging delivery from Wagner to dismiss Bell.

Warwickshire on 197/9 and they could really do with the bonus point before the next wicket goes. Though that's probably too little too late.

Oof, Porter takes the final one to finish with 4-62, but Warks made it to 201 and earn a point.

Stoneman gets a century I see - should earn him some more brownie points with the selectors.

Someone else looking to do the same: Westley is now at the crease for Essex. Hits a four off his first ball.

Oh dear, Westley's gone, nipped away by Woakes, and caught behind.

Purists will be delighted that Hameed is carrying on where he left off.

Surrey's batting points total stands out by a mile in the table, doesn't it? They've got another maximum with this first innings against Yorkshire.

                                Yorkshire doing well I see.

                                Chester-le-Street, here we come!

Yorks earned one bowling point, Somerset three batting points, in their respective matches. Yorkshire started with a 13 point lead over them (and one more win).

Middlesex lost a day, which I suppose could help secure a good result for them<!> and move above Yorkshire.

Players coming off at Edgbaston, with Essex 146/2, which is 55 runs behind.

Yorkshire's last match of the season is against Essex.

                                    Somerset have got Middlesex.

Well.... at least they can't both win...

And Yorkshire have got Warwickshire before then. It'll be fine.

Oh, Hameed's out for 4 off 56 balls.

That's the kind of innings that could possibly see him off the plane rather than on it.

I wonder if they're pondering the idea of having Hameed open and Stoneman at three. Stoneman is surely going, now. Although normative determinism should mean Stoneman is a natural to open.

The BBC Essex commentators were just talking up Essex lad Ben Foakes, who has also made a century today for Surrey, as a possible wicket keeper in the England squad. Which could give us Stokes, Woakes and Foakes.

Surrey are all out now, for 592. Centuries for Stoneman and Foakes as mentioned, and Sangakkara too.

Chopra out lbw on 98. Looked to me like he got outside the line. Did well not to show too much disappointment.
