Corbyn:
“We need to look very carefully at the terms of any trade relationship, because at the moment we are part of the single market, obviously,” he told the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show. “That has within it restrictions on state aid and state spending.
“That has pressures on it, through the European Union, to privatise rail, for example, and other services. I think we have to be quite careful about the powers we need as national governments.”

Well worth following Pete North 303 on Twitter, one of the Liberal Leavers....He is doing one hell of a job in favour of Remain at the moment, not even ardent remainers like Ian Dunt can match him for catastrophism and disdain of the hard brexit loons (he is looking forward to Rees-Mogg being dismembered by angry crowds after Brexit causes the UK to grind down to a complete halt...)

If the Liberal Leave option had been the one on the table, i would be pretty relaxed about Brexit, a country can thrive outside the EU as long as there is a certain level of integration into it (like Switz) but as abundantly exposed, the deluded, mendacious fantasy of splendid isolation pushed by both Labour and Tories is something that runs counter to any kind of logic....

As is not showing their hand/trying to persuade the lumpen masses to come along with Brexit (and it can’t be emphasized enough, 2/3 of Labour voters were Remain. They should have concentrated on getting the Lib Dems etc and non insane Tories to switch in Kipper heavy constituencies in the Midlands and North).
There’s one thing not being a hostage to the Tory press by not coming out for Single Market and FoM too soon. But this isn’t all for domestic consumption. There are 27 other countries, and the Commission, watching this and despairing that both big parties are total numpties on Europe. There will be no opportunity for Labour to suddenly see sense on the issue on which all their other policies and hopes hang (will you fuck be able to afford student debt write offs, more social housing, better infrastructure if you are trying to build Social Democracy In One Country. If you are going to hanker back to Atlee remember the NHS was only possible at that time on the back of Empire and massive exploitation. No one is queuing to throw resources at us now, we need the bargaining power of being in a massive bloc to have any hope to afford the sunny uplands of socialism) if they don’t change and soon.
If there was an election this year (and why not? The Tories seem to be going nuts) their manifesto would be no Single Market No FoM. That’s terrifying madness and I don’t see the fuckers softening.Last edited by Lang Spoon; 26-09-2017, 19:33.

I haven't seen much discussion about whether Bombardier was, in fact, in receipt of illegal state aid, but then I've only read a couple of pieces on it. On the face of it, it's hard to see why its bailout would be OK but not, say, GM's, but then nothing I've read has even sought to explore that question.
