    Aussie, Aussie Aussie.

Kyrgios helps Seppi to a break with a double fault and a bad drop shot. Having got 15-40 down, he put in two 200kph plus second serves, but Seppi got one back to seal the break.

And in the first point of Seppi serving for the match, Kyrgios throws in a tweener for no good reason. He won that point, and it's now 15-30...

Breaks back to 15. Seems pissed off about having to play on.

Two real shocks on the cards. Seppi is serving for the match again against Kyrgios at 9-8, and Dan Evans still has his early break in set 4 on Cilic to lead 4-2.

Well, from what we've seen so far today of Murray's young Russian opponent, I'm surprised that Tarkovsky went to the trouble of making a biopic of him.

                    Aussie, Aussie Aussie.

Naomi Osaka is an intriguing test for Jo Konta today. They are the WTA Newcomer of the Year and Most Improved Player for 2016 respectively. Osaka is the sort of player who is going to have a breakout Slam where she topples two or three top ranked players sooner rather than later. I would still make Konta the favourite for the match, but far from an overwhelming one.

It's currently on serve at 2-3 in set one.

                      Aussie, Aussie Aussie.

Or not. Konta saved a couple of break points at 3-4 in the first set, then stepped on the gas to win 4&2. Apart from some slight hiccoughs in the last game, Osaka barely won any points on Konta's serve in the later part of the match. Rather impressive, really.

Long way back for Kyle Edmund, though. He is two sets down to 30th seed Pablo Carreno Busta.

Cracking match ongoing between Djokovic and Istoman. They are about to start the fifth set. And I think they are in their fifth hour.

Flipping heck! Just read that news. Sir Andy guaranteed to remain no.1 for a bit longer then!

Edit: I know it's stupid to comment on how odd some foreign names sound to English ears, but I can't resist commenting that "Istomin" sounds like some kind of prescription drug.

Edit2: alternatively, there's an obvious pun, no doubt made several times already around the world's social and other media, that Novak forgot to take his anti-Istomin pills.

Before Konta's match last night (UK time - this morning Aussie time of course) they were saying on Eurosport how she'd been identified as the best "clutch" player on the tour, meaning the best at staying calm and doing disproportionately well on the big points. I wonder if Watson would be the worst in that ranking.

                                      What do those line-ups have?
Well a couple of happy families in the Zverevs and the Pliseks.
Rather a seed massacre in the top half of the Women's, with just six of sixteen making it to the third round.
Quite the opposite in the Men's bottom half, which is just missing two names. But one of those names makes up in significance for the lack of numbers.
A few fascinating matches coming up in the next two days, but none more intriguing than Sascha Zverev vs Rafa Nadal.

Three happy families if you add the Williams sisters (though perhaps 3rd round is not yet enough to register on the happiness scale for them).

but none more intriguing than Sascha Zverev vs Rafa Nadal.
Interesting route beyond that too for Nadal. After A Zverev he could face Monfils then Raonic, before a, frankly, probably less interesting SF opponent from the quarter just vacated by Djokovic. My money's on Raonic to make it to the semis, but it'll be very interesting to see how the Russian, sorry German, gets on.

If we are doing draws, we would also look at the doubles, which is now underway.

The British challenge was led by J.Murray/Soares, but the defending Men's Dubs champions were beaten in straight sets by Querrey/Young in R1. At least this will stop the claims that both Murray brothers were simultaneously world no.1. This was only true in the a similar way to Herbie Hide being Heavyweight Champion of the World, i.e. not on the commonly used or understood system; as if to emphasise how little importance is placed on the team rankings, Murray/Soares were the second seeds here despite being 'The World's Top Pair'.
Better news for the other British seed, Inglot and he and Mergea beat Aussie wild cards Saville/Thompson in two. They face Benneteau/Chardy next. One more British pair played, the Skupski's getting in as alternates. This was, however, in place of Evans/Kyrgios so is only a half-upgrade, and it didn't last long as they were beaten by 14th seeds Cabal/Farah.
No British pairs made R2 of the Women's Doubles as Watson/Broady went down in three tight sets to Knapp/Minella and Rae/Smith were well beaten by 4th seeds Mirza/Strycova.

My plan to have a cold shower followed by a (for me, relatively) early night has just been scuppered/thrown in the bin by the news that Murray v Querry is next up on the telly.

Although I will still be having that shower in a few minutes as it was rather warm today (as an indicator, it's currently nearly 30 Celsius, and it's 1:30 in the morning).

FUCK ESPN. Jack Sock getting his ass kicked is far more important than Sam Querrey getting his ass kicked by Murray. Arseholes.

I take that back. Sock just won the third set on a tie-break.
