Sadly, Brian Rix has died.

That's sad, but he fought the good fight and led the way for parent/carer participation.

When I was a member of the Parent Carer Council in Shropshire I assisted in giving a presentation to the local Mencap group. I always remember an elderly lady, with tears in her eyes, saying that she wished they had groups like ours back in the 50s/60s.

It must have been awful then. You know, those good old days....

Yes, I forgot, until I listened to his obituary on Radio 4, that what he did for Mencap was wonderful.

I don't think I've ever seen a whitehall farce (I've worked in a few, ba-dum tish). Did they evolve into the Terry and June like things from the 1980s (Terry Scott is mentioned in the obit as one of Rix's troupe)?
