Any brief appeal to national pride will rapidly pall when faced with the foul stench of controversy surrounding Russia, Kenya and Jamaica, and the move to introduce professionals into boxing tournaments is the final nail in the pugilistic coffin. Ireland certainly lost a gold in 2004 cos the horse failed a drugs test. There may have been some equine dodginess last time around too. I find it hard to care about horse sports though.Comment
