Haven't heard any of it today. Are the Lanka boys making a game of it? Won't know until they bat I suppose.

        Just putting the highlights on.

Mark Nicholas is David Cameron, isn't he?

OTFers being quoted on TMS about Speedway?

              The world has gone mad.

This is one of the proudest moments of my life, doubly so as Boycott responded to it.

'Kinnell lads, this is painful. It's not inexperience (not as if there wasn't an extended window to bring in replacements for two 40-somethings), just incompetence.

Boycott bingo? Rhubarb, Truman, Man Utd, I'd love [random orthodox right-hander] as our Emma's boyfriend. Happen she weren't already married, like.

Still, if Saturday at HQ's a washout I'm sure there's a club game to watch elsewhere in London.

That speedway point is fascinating. Pondered that question a lot, of which sports are as affected by the pitch as cricket - golf was my best guess

Having lost Gayle, Kohli, de Villiers and Shane Watson in relatively quick succession, Royal Challengers Bangalore will need to rely on the duo of Sachin Baby and Stuart Binny to win the IPL Final against Sunrisers Hyderbad

That's effectively over now - 14 needed from 2 balls. David Warner wins again.

Lanka's gutsy comeback continues, after a great ton from Chadimal ell supported by Tubby Herath, they go to lunch in the lead. At effectively 6 for 6, but set Chef 50 or 75 and there's potential for some thrills and spills

Herath gets his second test 50

England's fielding is rather like the weather, blowing cold and colder.

England get there in the end, and Cook nurdles his way to become the youngest to 10,000.

Great to see SL applying themselves in that innings.

Perhaps surprisingly England name unchanged squad for Lords. I'd definitely start Compton, not sure about Finn

England start well for the first hour and then fall over in a heap... Maybe Sri Lanka won't have to follow on this time...

Could be worse too. Bairstow dropped on 11, and just now shown to be out lbw by the third umpire, but the third umpire strangely went with the on field call of not out.

Bairstow beats Alec Stewarts record for an England wicketkeeper at home and ends up 167no as England finish up on a reasonable 416 given the hour before lunch yesterday.

Good day's play that, albeit with England's usual fragility at the top of the order. Great to see Hales digging in, though.

So that must be the end for Compton – who comes in for him?

                                                Borthwick seems the most likely.

I think they need to be looking at a new keeper too. They bat deep enough to be able to afford to pick someone who can catch. Sadly it seems a vanishing quality even in county cricket.

Foakes has been mentioned, but I assume that was just so we could have Stokes/Foakes/Woakes jokes.

Agree on the keeper. There were some good pieces on Cricinfo about it. It's about time some international team gives it a go. Particularly with a spinner like Moeen Ali who blows hot and cold a really skillful person behind the stumps could add an extra bit of pressure.

Borthwick would be interesting. As things stand, I wonder if they should put Root at three, rather than throwing someone inexperienced in there.

Woakes and Hales have been big plusses for England this series.
