Target of 287. Plenty of time still for India, but it looks like knife-edge stuff.

India need 287, which is 50 some more than anyone has gotten in the fourth innings at Centurion

Vijay gone. So much rests on Pujara, their best batsman in tricky conditions, as well as Kohli. Wouldn't back the rest of them to chase 140.

          India haven't got a chance.

Agreed. Tests seem to be so difficult to win away. India have chucked it again.

Yeah, once Kohli went SA won the test and the series. Ngidi has played just a handful of first-class games. That spell today was magnificent.

Yeah he looks a player. All this makes it more of a retrospective disappointment that SA were so pallid in England last summer, though absences didn't help

South Africa's away form had been good up to then, too. Will avenge the England loss at home if this attack stays fit.

SA really missed AB de Villiers in England. He has played crucial innings in both tests so far. The difference between him and Bavuma is massive. And in Markram, SA now have a good opener to partner Elgar. Heino Kuhn was totally out of his depth.

I also don't think Domingo was a great coach, whereas I do rate Ottis Gibson.

With Rabada the natural replacement for the (sadly in my view) increasingly injury prone Steyn, and a reasonable spinner in Maharaj to take over from Tahir, the bowling line up looks settled. Probably the best opening partnership around at the mo and looking strong down to de Kock at 7, this SA could and should be a force for a few years. Their only real issue is the utterly classy Hashim Amla, who's still capable of big scores but seems to be getting out more frequently for low scores in the past year.

Well, and de Villiers and Amla are both probably not a million miles off retiring - de Villiers in particular knows he can make a lot of money for a lot less effort whenever he chooses. That's a big hole to fill.

Teams in green had a winning home record in 2017 Tests, and teams in red a losing record. Pakistan of course played their 'home' matches in UAE.

Well, a handy 153-run victory, with Ngidi picking up six wickets in the second innings. Not a bad debut for the kid.

SA will have a turnover of important players in the next couple of years. Amla and AB are in approaching their mid-thirties, as are Faf and Elgar, and Philander and Morkel are over 30 as well.

Pujara getting run out twice was an absolute killer for India.
