Tubby, you and them polls, you can't keep away, can you? It's like me and mid-period Genesis, these addictions aren't good for you...

the only polls that will matter is the one that takes place when the election is called. And that will include two factors not present at the moment 500 000 Labour activists and equal media time.

I'm not sure I see Labour getting all those centrist Remainer votes next time if May carries on capitulating pragmatically.

UKIP are bankrupt, so she doesn't lose many there.

And she might show up with a manifesto this time. And not break down.

No, she won't. And yes, she will.

As for all those centrist Remainer votes... how did the Lib Dems do again?

          Comment

I'm not thinking of Lib Dems. I'm thinking of people who voted for Cameron but not May because of Nick Timothy nonsense and Hard Brexit.

Are there many of those, given that May's vote-share percentages are considerably higher than Cameron's ever were?

It's the beauty of FPTP duopoly, you end up voting for a party that you would not consider in a PR system with many more options. I doubt that many angry Remainers that voted Labour previously will really ditch Labour, because the alternative is even worse.

I also doubt Labour will form the next governement, the fact that the Tories still poll so high despite what has been nothing but an embarassement for over a year shows quite well how that share of voters is entranched in its political choices and will never change unless Labour morphs again into some Tory-Lite party.

Cameron + UKIP- May is about 7%. Take off the Kippers that Corbyn got, then not all that many. Enough to lose May her majority. Of course, you can say that of lots of groups.

I'm not saying Labour ought to build their strategy around keeping them or anything. They just seem like a group particularly likely go back to the Tories. A full on Corbyn might be exactly the right thing to do about them- not bother about them.

Fucking hell. He’s a prat, but this is a bad signal for any move toward Single Market ever happening from the Brains Trust. Surely at least Starmer and Abbott know their position is economy killing, nasty anti immigrant dog whistle bullshit. We’ve severely run out of time for anything else but. All cos of controlling our borders and the bullshit chimera of state aid.

Smith went too far with an article proposing a second referendum the other day. I've a fair bit of sympathy for him in that he was doing the Northern Ireland brief. There's only so many times a man can knock his head against a wall on the Single Market/Customs Union.

Corbyn's been found on Facebook defending an antisemitic mural in 2012 now. Woeful apology from spokesman too.

                          Leadership challenge needed.

Oy, Tubbs, Tubbs. What specifically happened, before the Labour Party has another self-implosion?

Labour, at this point in time, are led by a fucking moron.

That's all there is to it.

If May just hangs in and gets a shitty deal whose shitness only becomes really apparent over time, I’d say Labour will implode and shatter before any election. This is fucking woecious stuff. Even if it was tomorrow, I’d say the Tories will do it. It’s a terrifying New Dawn. Bitter and disillusioned new socialists drifting to frogness before the decade ends.

“In 2012, Jeremy was responding to concerns about the removal of public art on the grounds of freedom of speech,” said a statement released by the Labour party on Friday. “However, the mural was offensive, used antisemitic imagery, which has no place in our society, and it is right that it was removed.”
Concerns about something being removed that was right to be removed.

                                      Laughable.

The only rational thing to do for Scotland is to leave youse to it whatever the short term pain (will be far better than the long term slow death of Brexit that’s coming). So of course, the Indy Left are now voting SLab. After Corbyn explicitly ruled out any move beyond the Smith Commission, let alone Gordon and Keiza’s fevered dream of federal devo to the max. I’m going to be in my grave and Scotland still too scared to jump. And by then too impoverished by Brexit.

Labour's current leader is a leave voting apologist for blatant anti-semitism. So much for an effective opposition.
