Urban Renewal? College Football
Forgive all of my Weeknd posts, but enlarging and de-larging Harbaugh's picture to "The Hills", that's all I'll say.
He started the Ninners 5-1, so as long as he doesn't go to Rich Rodriguez territory he should be okay. Should he go 1-5, it will be straight-up the anti-Nick Saban college-pro dynamic thingy ever.
Let's just start with this: All year on the Big 10 Network, they played one game over and over and over for Rutger's Greatest Big 10 Games. Guess which one.

They're coming back, down by 1TD with 12min to go.
Related to Harbaugh, Stanfurd with a very mediocre opening loss 16-6 at Northwestern. NW's freshman QB outplayed furd's 4-yr starter Hogan. Shaw is looking worse every year, he's undoing the base that Harbaugh built on the farm. Cal has a decent shot of finishing 2nd in the P12 North behind Oregon. The P12 South looks like the toughest division in the NCAA, other than Colorado every team is pretty competitive, it's a tight race this year for the CCG.

Stanford loses to Northwestern.
Arizona State doubled by Texas A&M
Washington State loses to Portland State.
Washington loses to Boise State.
Colorado loses to Hawaii.
Arizona struggles with Texas San Antonio
Oregon gives up 42 to Eastern Washington.
Yeah, I think that's a bad day

Duke is not that good. Funny how Furd still has SC's number, good to see South Central brought down a notch, they were already thinking they were back to Carroll levels.
Cal survives a nail-biter, Goff (who is only starting to get recognized as the top QB in college football) had a good game, Khalfani Muhammad was superb in replacement for injured starting RB Lasco, 155yds and nearly 17 yards per carry. we scored 31 unanswered points but let them back after Goff got an ankle sprain and the gameplan went conservative. Texas RS Fr QB Heard had a superb outing in his second start, he rallied his team with nice runs, good throws and solid decision-making, the Horns are set at the positions for years to come.
Bama brought down once again by Miss, nice.

Fun game to watch yesterday, USC taking a bad loss on paper, but UW is not all that bad. So SC is going to be written off going forward, until they upset ND later this month...
Big game in Utah, with the last two undefeateds in the P12. Utah is the more complete team on paper, a legitimate top 10 team, veteran, well-coached, but Goff is the best QB in the NCAA hands down, and he has the best, deepest WR unit in the conference, we can put a lot of points up quickly. Goff has been very productive, breaking nearly all Cal passing records in less than 2 1/2 seasons, but he's yet to lead a comeback win against a top team, this might just be that game.

It really should have been no shock to anyone, just like the L to Stanford, except that outside of people that follow the Pac-12 closely, everyone still thinks the USC mystique is a real thing and are eager to push the "the Trojans are back!" narrative. They were ridiculously overrated going into the season, even more than normal.
The hilarious thing is that not only did Pat Haden screw over USC by hiring Sarkisian, they made another team in the conference better by hiring him away. Everyone assumes that Chris Petersen didn't want to leave the northwest, he wasn't interested in moving to a big city, blah blah blah. But I've read plenty of things from reporters in the know that USC wasn't interested in Petersen, they thought he was only used to the sticks and couldn't handle the pressure of dealing with the SC boosters and the LA media, and didn't have the right persona to coach there. I love it.

Yes, agree with everything, except that USC still has top-20 talent and is capable of putting it together on any given week. I think as well UW was a bit underrated, and dismissed after their loss to Cal, much like ASU was before UCLA. There are about 6 teams in the P12 that are top 25 material, though perhaps none that are playoff/F4 worth this year. It's going to be an interesting season.

Grim news at USC, reports are that Sarkisian showed up visibly intoxicated to a practice today and was in no shape to coach. He's been put on leave and an interim coach is taking over.
