The Ryanair of minicabs. I don’t have a problem with the concept, but the devil’s in the detail and the execution is problematic. Or shit.

Well, since you ask, there were cleaners working in the house (required by tenancy agreement) so the idea was to quickly drop off the cargo then go to the pub for a swifty until they had finished. I could have gone straight to the pub by myself, I suppose, but it was only 3pm.

Virgin Trains and Uber announce 'last mile' partnership
(I'm surprised they've not gone the whole full monty and dragged Stagecoach / Soutar along with them.)

Well well well.
Uber's model of allowing "anyone to sign up and offer for trade" has offended people who've signed up and offered to trade -

(It is actually more to do with one authority's PHV plates now being valid in another authority.
Sheffield is plagued with these people - it's probably OK if neighbouring and cheek-by-jowl NE Derbyshire operate in the southern half of the city, but it's repugnant that Rossendale operators seem fit to bowl up)

Can someone let me know what kind of firm Taxify are? I have been using their app and service in Bucharest (and this week in Cluj) and it's absolutely excellent from the point of view of the passenger, and according to the drivers I have talked to it's really good for them too (the ones who have done both uber and taxify say the difference is massive and they've all given up uber now). But before I start raving about it as an unpaid shill, does anyone have a reason that I should look askance?

Uber wants the British government to impose a congestion charge targetting lower income people https://www.theguardian.com/politics...e_iOSApp_Other
Kind of thing that's right up this government's street, I'd have said
