    World Cup qualification: CONCACAF

Ad hoc's great introduction to the Asian qualifiers made me check up on north and central America. Turns out the first/preliminary phase had been in full swing too.

Six of the first-round teams in CONCACAF were British Overseas Territories. Only two remain in, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Got me thinking though, that's at least eleven votes Britain gets in FIFA (those 6, the 4 home nations, Gibraltar). Are there any others?

First round: 14 lowest ranked teams play over two legs, so 7 advance.

Second round: Those 7 and the next 13 lowest ranked play over two legs, so 10 advance.

Third round: The two next lowest ranked teams - Jamaica and Haiti - plus the 10 second round winners play over two legs, so 6 advance from this.

Fourth round: The top 6 ranked teams come in with 6 winners, forming three groups of four. The top two from each group (6 teams) go through.

Fifth round: "The Hex" - those six teams form a single group. The top 3 qualify, and the 4th placed team plays in an inter-confederation play-off

It's Curaηao that Kluivert is managing right?

Excellent, well, brief highlights of their round one first leg and second leg matches are available.

Footage of a Kluivert press conference from before the Cuba game is also there.

They also hosted Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly last week. The only YouTube footage I can find of that is the entire match.

OK, found the goal. Late strike from Charlton Vicento. Nothing yet on the Cuba 0-0 though.

                            Heh.

First leg and second leg, if you're interested.

Turks and Caicos have the superior AV equipment, by a long way, if that's any consolation to them.

Rogin, surely the six Caribbean votes are firmly in the control of Warner and his acolytes, rather than Greg Dyke.

Greg Dyke v Jack Warner. Christ, that'd be a spectacular twat-off...

I thought one of the top corrupt dudes in the Swiss arrests was Jeffrey Webb, Cayman Islander. Which I would think puts him directly in Jack Warner's corner. Not that being corrupt doesn't mean you aren't associated with Greg Dyke. Just that this particularly bunch of the corrupt seem to be Warner's.

The Mighty Jaguars of Belize put the Cayman Islands out in the last round, Rogin.

Now sat waiting the first leg of the second round series between Belize and The Dominican Republic to kick off from Santo Domingo.

Two o'clock on a bloody Thursday afternoon. Stupid bloody baseball nations with light-less national stadiums.

Even first 6 minutes on a very bumpy pitch in front of about 500 fans in Santo Domingo.

D.R. are a good 50 places above the Jaguars in the rankings but Belize don't look overawed. Couple of corners for both teams early on.

I can only update first half as I have to be at the DMV for three to see 'the big boss'.

Wow! Impressed by the fact that DR state TV is using more than one static camera to show the game.

Return leg is on Sunday at 4pm Mountain at the FFB National Stadium in Belmopan.

Just like for the Cayman Islands game the local FA, the FFB, are charging a quite frankly scandalous $50 BZ for the game ($25 US)

                                                  GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL! BELIZE!!!!!!!!!

Poor kick well saved, but keeper spills it for same striker (I think McAuley) to follow up.

Surprise but deserved lead for Belize after stonewall penalty call.
