    Islamic State Watch

And all of this goes on as the US Iran talks reach critical. Any coincidence here?

Thanks for the link above AE. The Nation's coverage, which had been consistently good in the 00s has been more uneven lately, it's good to see some solid investigative reporting like this.

Have you got a link to your piece Linus?

What did you think about the Druze lynching the IS fighters in IDF ambulances?

Not to mention a large Western community, who are fairly blatant in enjoying the more tolerant rules. I've got a mate who works selling Audis over there and he and his wife celebrated the start of Ramadan by posting pictures on facebook of them and the other Brit ex-pats getting plastered at the Rugby club.

My understanding is that Munther Khalil was a fighter with the Free Syrian Army

Thanks for the link TonTon. All the other sources I've seen have him as either IS or Jabhat an-Nusra. But what was he doing travelling in an IDF ambulance?

He was part of the Free Syrian Army's Revolutionary Command Council of Quneitra and the Golan. He was injured in fighting that spilled over into the Golan. As they do with Palestinian fighters and their families, Israel sporadically treats them in Israeli hospitals.

Is there 'systematic ethnic cleansing' by Kurds in north-east Syria?

Here is another source about the incidents that Linus raised.

Not about IS but about the current negotiations regarding Iran. Ritter I thought came out of the Iraq War as being an intelligent figure proved right.

30 of the 38 deaths in Tunisia have now been confirmed as British citizens. It still appears it was a lone gunman who was supported by his flat mates, all of them disappeared from public view about a month before the attack.

Terrible, horrifying story. Worse loss of British civilian life since 7/7 apparently.

Surprised there hasn't been more said on OTF about this. Have I missed this story's own thread? or is it being discussed elsewhere?. In the UK it's been pretty much the main story (understandably) for almost four days now.

There's been some interesting footage of the locals shadowing/chasing him down. By the looks/sounds of it they weren't really being targeted, but still, remarkable bravery.

More than one witness has alluded to a second shooter or someone directly helping the killer at the resort. Interesting how vague the reports still are atm.

One story is that the UK consular services seem to have bungled this completely, which is presumably part of the reason why it is taking so long to confirm deaths.

Number of reports of Brits hounding consular officials from other countries with many fewer (in some cases no) victims who were much quicker to get to the scene. Thomson also seems to have dropped the ball initially.

Tunisia and Egyptian tourism tends to rely more heavily on large group bookings than that in Kenya.

it's been said this pic represents the locals (who, it's been reported, Seifeddine Rezgui/Abu Yahya al-Qayrawani apparently refused to shoot) protecting tourists by forming a human shield. If true, it's one hell of a powerful image.

Agreed. More criticism of the UK Consular Services is that so far only 18 of the 30 plus UK victims have been identified, apparently social media had identified more. Shocking if this is true.

Surprising lack of comment from the Government on the fact that the gunman trained in an IS camp in Libya, a country Cameron helped to liberate if I remember correctly.

And trained with the museum killers from IS, looks like a failure of the security services. So far three Tunisians from the same training camp have committed these crimes. I guess there is a massive hunt on to find all those other people who they have identified.

                                                  Cheers Dave.
