Yes, this. Three hours' sleep a night at the moment.
Things have already changed in central London. In the last few hours the wind has started blowing from the south and cloud has blocked out the sun. No rain about yet, but in six hours time there will be.

it is currently as dark as Theresa May's soul
You've been waiting to use that line haven't you?

No, honest! I paused in typing and it just threw itself at me.

Had 20 minutes of thunder and moderate rain in Merseyside this morning before it drifted off in a Lancastrian direction - bit of a pisser as it means I'm going to have to water the garden when I get home and was hoping nature would do it for me.

It's got very dark in the last half hour here in the "former Socialist Republic"

We're inside, but I think the pressure might be dropping like a stone, too.

Lots of "weather" appertaining in the Manchester area by all accounts.

I trust all the SE Lancs and NE Cheshire denizens of otf are all snug and secure this evening?

Apparently this supercell (or whatever) has just struck my manor.

              Oh well.

Nothing I can do about it here.

Fucking primal out the back window here. Got a view over the whole bay, it's like Thor's up there in the clouds somewhere, having a right barney with Loki.

EIM posted a picture of what looked like Market Street on Facebook earlier. Bit hard to tell under all the water, though. I think I spotted a dolphin.

I started the day in 80 degree heat in Chicago and ended it watching the water slowly creeping up our drive in Stockport.

It was a hell of a light show.

We've got some new work colleagues over from Ireland, North and South, at the moment.

I took great pleasure in letting them know that yesterday's UK high, which was measured not too far away from my office, was hotter than Northern Ireland and the Republic's all-time highs.

Well, we haven't had any decent rain in Essex for over two months now. The ground is rock hard, cricket on Sunday the ball was pinging all over the place on a very fast outfield, and the grass has gone all brown and horrible. Yet I notice that the western parts of the UK have been having loads of rain. I propose a big pipe to send rain down our way and we'll send some of our sunshine back up to them.

Anyone else living in a bone dry area of the country at the moment?

The death toll in Haiti is up to 65 and will likely go higher.

Haiti is the Job of countries

Currently at Tampa airport, which is operating pretty much as normal - suspect our flight may need a slight detour around the leading edge of the storm but otherwise all looks to be drama-free. Have been on the Gulf Coast the last 3 days after a week on the Atlantic side that is about to cop for a fairly serious pasting, but even so I'm glad we'd booked to come home today and not tomorrow.

Colleague from my office is currently on holiday at WDW Orlando. Presumably tonight's ride was not in the brochure.

All the Orlando parks were closed, and lots of planes in Miami and the East Coast were grounded.

So far, Florida has avoided the worst, as it is staying just off shore, but the reports from Haiti just get worse, with the death toll now above 500

Apologies for posting on something so trivial while news of Hurricane Matthew and related death and damage is still coming in, but I just had the weirdest weather experience just now, in Cambridge.

Popped out for a short trip on foot, and there was a very slight, but nonetheless very definitely real, drizzle of rain. Which wouldn't be that surprising but for the fact that the sky, including all parts anywhere remotely near to vertically above, is bright sunny blue with only dispersed wispy bits of white cloud very high up, and the conditions low down contain not even the slightest hint of mist or fog. Where the hell does the drizzle come from?

Surreal. It's lovely in Wales this morning, at least where I am. Tomorrow will be... interesting.

That page you've linked to gives you a nice video with BBC Wales' weather reporter Behnaz Akhgar, who is also awesome, incidentally.

Interesting weather forecast for today. It's due to drop from 6C to freezing in a matter hours in London. Also, the wind will swing from southerly at 2pm to northerly by 6pm with an increase in wind speed from 19mph to 40mph. I wonder if I'll get home before the chaos starts.

The forecast for snow (in London) seems to be getting more confident as this evening gets closer, though it's far from guaranteed. Here's hoping.
