    Harpo Marx

The corollary to the "spoken of or heard, but never seen" thread.

This is seen, but never 'eard.

I'll nominate Oddjob and, more importantly, the bloke who used to sit at the end of the bar in the Woolpack.

There's a couple of extras in Eastenders who've been in it for 30 years, but have only ever had two or three speaking moments - Tracey the barmaid and Winston, who runs the record stall on the market.

Harpo Marx's autobiography is quite good, by the way, for those of you with any interest in that era in Hollywood (or New York).

                  I hope so.

                  They cremated him.

There must be an awful lot of blank pages.

There is a device in it that makes a honk sound everytime you turn a page.

I haven't watched all the movies but Jason Vorhees never speaks in the one's I have seen.

Seconded - it is a highly entertaining read and called, naturally, Harpo Speaks!

Barring the odd scream from the former, Tom and Jerry managed to conduct campaigns of animated destruction without any verbals. That was in their prime, though. Subsequent modern incarnations may have changed that.

New ones have pretty much kept them mute, the reaction to the 1992 movie (where after a promising first few minutes evoking the classic shorts, they then can't SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!) was so bad:
