    Sixty years ago today...

    ...we missed a penalty at Port Vale and lost 1-0. Scoring the penalty would've put us second in the Second with a game still to play, a point behind Luton who'd finished their fixtures.

    We then went on to batter Liverpool 6-1, but had to wait on the outcome of Birmingham's trip to Donny. Inevitably the scrotes of Doncaster lost, so the table finished with Birmingham City top on 54 points, Luton Town second with 54 points and Rotherham United third with 54 points.

    Only the top two got promoted in those days...
