    Celebrity fans

So David Cameron had a 'brain fade' and forgot the name of the team he 'supports'. Shocking news for us all; next thing you know it'll turn out Prince William hasn't got a season ticket on the Holte after all. Still, these things happen 'on the stump', and no doubt the PM (or former PM) will be cheering Aston on on May 30th.
Any offers of a more dismal celeb 'fan'?

Sean Connery was a pretty dismal Celtic fan given his penchant for turning up at Ibrox.

David 'Kid' Jensen: he used to bang on about his beloved Wolves throughout the seventies - now he's one of Crystal Palace's biggest fans, if half his publicity photos are to be believed. (That, and the fact that he's Chairman of the club's VP Club - for which a lifelong allegiance clearly isn't imperative.)

Park Avenue's Mark Park was happy to support the Wanderers, until he got big and started wearing a ManU shirt.

Danny Boyle was in the Family Stand at our game yesterday, but I once interviewed him for the programme hoping for a load of anecdotes about supporting Bury in the 70s and 80s but he barely remembered anything. Mike Read talks about the club on Twitter too but rarely attends games.

I remember that Prince Naseem went on "Fantasy Football" and said that he was a fan of both Sheffield Wednesday and United. Mind you, I think the lovely Michael Palin has said the same so maybe it is a thing up there. I am not sure that the Wednesday supporters of my acquaintance agree.

Are you lot still claiming Gus Honeybun?

Sadly Michael Foot is no longer with us, so you get David Owen instead.

We'll take Gus if you don't want him, though I'm unsure if Owen has ever been spotted on an away terrace like Foot.

When Savage is your second most odious, fame-hungry, attention-seeking celebrity fan you know you're in the shit.

Connery switched sides to Rangers because Sir Minty brought him to Champions League matches on his (Murray's) private jet a few times in the 1990s. What a gimp.

David Blunkett's Wednesday too. He was sitting behind me in a royal blue and white bar scarf when Bury beat Wednesday in 2011.

Arsenal, meanwhile, can offer Ronnie Biggs, "Mad" Frankie Fraser, Fidel Castro, Osama bin Laden and Piers Morgan.

Alan Davies is easily in the top three of Arsenal's most embarrassing celeb fans. Around 2003 or 2004, he wrote a weekly column about them in the Times which was mind-bendingly bad. It made the witterings of Piers Morgan look like Brian Glanville.
