With a heavy heart ... It's unlikely all the campaigning in the world will save this historic little venue, even with 20,000 signatures and people like Pete Townsend making public protests.

There are gigs planned right up until closure. TV Smith is playing tonight, Will Crewdson and co. on Tuesday, NYE not finalised yet but the Featherz will open.

Do sign the petition - one never knows and we can but try.

I was there last night for the Membranes and the rather brilliant Faerground Accidents among others. It does seem that the closure is pretty much a done deal and plans are afoot to reopen somewhere on the Holloway Road. Hopefully they will install a beam to recreate the, ahem, unique sightlines of the current performance space. January 13th is currently scheduled as the last night on Denmark St.

This is so horrible - my (nothing special, Victorian) street is a conservation area but half of Soho is being demolished.
