Oh fuckity fuck.
Worked with him a couple of times in the late '90's and he was the sweetest guy. I was torturing him to play the music from Sale Of The Century on the Hammond at soundcheck so I could say 'and now, from Norwich - IT'S THE QUIZ OF THE WEEK!! ' but he explained that he'd been living in the States for years and had no idea what i was on about.
Fuck it anyway.

I'd have gone for an alternate title:
"I was glad to come, I'll be sad to go. So while I'm here, I'll have me a real good time."

The Faces looked like they really did have a good time. I'd hate to live downstairs from them (they played pissed football in hotel corridors late at night) but they were great fun to watch and I actually liked their boogie woogie piano, with Rod jumping all over it.

And soul:
One of my favourite clips from the period (with P.P. Arnold — a massive bonus)

You're right. I think because they were so young, didn't really have the lineage/connections of other London bands, and always seemed to be in it mostly for giggles. They only started to be taken seriously just before Stevie M left.
