    Dad's Army - The Movie

Living near to Coleshill, where a lot of the "Home Guard" were trained (they used to turn up at Highworth train station, go to the Post Office and then were picked up by car to go to Coleshill in secret), it's interesting to read about the training of what, would in modern terms, be called "insurgents".

Overall I don't think the half hour sitcom format ever works well stretched out into film form. That said, I still have a huge soft spot for The Likely Lads film!

The first Steptoe and Son film was alright.

In all probability it will not be for the reasons cited above.

So as suggested on here rewrite and explore some myths and realities. And still make it funny perhaps.

It's almost certainly just me but I just don't get Bill Nighy. His most credible "I'm not just being Bill Nighy" performance on screen was playing Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean, which says an awful lot.

Russell Brand as Walker, that would work.
