And we are all poorer for it.

    She was just the best.

    RIP

There's more room for the infinitely less classy to move around in now. More air for the styleless to breathe.

          RIP

I'm whistling. But you're not there...

The utter buffoon reading the news on Radio 2 this morning said she had "married Humphrey Bogart after appearing together in 'To Have and to Have Not'."

              Really?

              Not "married each other" then?

              Idiot.

'The Big Sleep'? (That was for Bored...)

RIP to a screen titan, of course.

This means that all 16 people mentioned in Vogue by Madonna are now dead.

If she could give the heads up to Paul Dacre, Rupert Murdoch and all members of the coalition, that'd be encouragement in itself.

Does this mean there's only the remainder of Billy Joel's "hit list" to go?

And of Tim Curry's "I Do The Rock".

From Billy Joel's gang there's still Doris Day, England's "new queen", Brigitte Bardot, Chubby Checker, Fidel Castro, Bob Dylan, John Glenn, killer Bernhard Goetz and a few children of thalidomide to go.

I enjoyed her performance in The Shootist but I haven't seen it mentioned in any obituary.

However, I was interested to learn that she was in a film called Young Man With A Horn along with Kirk Douglas and Doris Day, both of whom are still with us.

The only other actor from Hollywood's Golden Age that I can think of left alive is Sidney Poitier. Any others?

Indeed. There are quite a few big names still around that are now in their 90s. Kirk Douglas, Maureen O'Hara, Christopher Lee, Doris Day, Louis Jourdan, to name a handful.

There will be a lot of dirt published about Douglas when he eventually snuffs it, especially with regard to Natalie Wood.

Yeh, it's strange. I love that film.

Her appearance on Desert Island Discs back in 1979 is worth a listen. Everything that was said about her 'sassy' voice comes across in the programme. It sounded like she was shamelessly flirting with the staid Roy Plomley.
