    Mad Max: Fury Road

I just watched this. Total trash, really. Some of the dialogue and most of the acting were laugh-out-loud bad. "Does anybody see the bright lights and encroaching gunfire?"

It reminded me a bit of Gran Torino, in that hardly anybody in the entire film possessed basic acting skills. Apart from the two leads, and they weren't exactly great in this. They spoke a lot of their lines like robots.

It's basically too silly to be truly exciting. The bit where the guy absently eats the insect was more startling than most of the other stuff.

Finally saw this, in 3D. What a blast. The only bits that really bugged me were the speeded-up bits at the beginning and during some of the chase scenes. Other than that, pretty fucking cool all around.

        Mad Max: Fury Road

Saw it last night too, in 2D. Silly but enjoyable and confirming the Monty Python impression I got from the trailer.

It's too long and too linear for me though that is obviously exactly the film they wanted to make. A couple of the battle sequences are stunning (the climactic one and where they are buzzed by the trail bikes in the mountain pass) but that can't be maintained for the whole film.

True. It got bogged down in the mud once or twice.

(Did you see what I did there?)

I saw the 1D version, found it too linear.

Seriously though, the original was about a fight for a gas tanker in post-apocalyptic Oz, but you'd figure they'd have electric cars running on solar power down under.

I've just watched this on DVD. What a truly odd film.

It didn't really keep my attention throughout. At one point I felt like it must be near the end and I was less than halfway through.

Stunts, landscape, cinematography all top notch. Score was very good. But all in all I doubt I'll watch it again.

You’ll get barred pt, with much more Shite Max dissing on the board. Snake and the legs of Justice unleashed.

For me it felt like a wrestlemania skit in the desert with massive money spent just to annoy me. Ducking nonsense bollocks, flaming guitars shite.

The second best chase film of the millennium, after Apocalypto. Both are works of genius. So there.

Having slept on it, maybe it's a grower. The guitarist didn't bother me. It's a hyper-violent cult so the war music made sense.

The lack of former Prisoner Cell Block H actresses is a minus.

I wasn’t that impressed by Fury Road but wondered why there hadn’t been a sequel yet. Turns out in the immortal words of David Lee Roth “I figured I’d get in to the movie biz. Got in the movie biz...now I’m learning about lawsuits”:

Mad Max: will courtroom feuding put the brakes on a Fury Road sequel?

I was quite up for seeing Fury Road. Then I saw it. What a dull load of old bollocks it was.

Oscar nominations for best picture and best directing. Might as well have nominated Fifty shades of grey.

                                      Fury Road was great.

                                      George Miller is a genius.

I don't understand why it draws such strong reactions. It was OK. I've no idea why it was nominated for best picture. It was just a fairly well made car chase. Harmlessly entertaining to watch, like, say, Jurassic World or Baby Driver or Logan Lucky, but nothing more than that. I'd not be upset to watch it if I was trapped on a plane, but I'd hardly make the effort to seek it out.

It was a 70 year old guy who had seen all the pretenders, including the shitty Fast and Furious movies and went "out of the way boys, this is how you film a car chase.

This link https://vimeo.com/151838996 shows it sped up to 12x speed, around most of the other movies which pass for action. It's the easiest to show just how well made it is. (It lasts 10 minutes, but you get the idea in one.)

Ever since this was first announced, at first glance I always misread the title as Furry Road. On viewing, it was less child friendly than expected.
