i hate this feudal fucking sport and am seriously perplexed when watching fuckin Cheltenham seems to become a patriotic duty. May the McManus and O'Brien bastards die roaring. Also another reason to wish Michael O'Leary a death like Herod.

What do people imagine horse racing is going to be like? It's an extension of Farming (which is exactly like this) and it's a workforce made up of people who are completely obsessed. The people at the top of the pyramid are horrendous, and the entire industry is dependent on their whim.

The very phrase "stable lad" makes me want to puke, to be honest.

Looks like prosecutions for Bloody Sunday are imminent.

I've heard this so often over the years, not going to happen, there's no chance of getting an unbiased jury for that trial, bloody Sunday has always shown to me what the UK public and establishment thought about the North, the Army are considered to have been in a foreign war zone rather than keeping the peace.

Mark Durkan is to run for Fine Gael in Dublin in the European elections.

                    Mark who?

Does seem a bit bizarre from Durkan. Hard to see any benefit to his previous voters in NI; and won't he be seen as a little known #2 for FG with no chance of a seat?

Hard to see how Karen Bradley can remain in office after her latest gaffe.

This should really be in one of the british threads really. The idea that the police and army shooting people can't be considered a crime should be more of a concern for people living in the UK.

She has to go. She will go on.

Pengelly's da was a scumbag loyalist hood and probable killer and she asked the question that prompted this. Fuckin DUP idiot squad in WM are poison. Tories are willfully ignorant bastards who need little encouragement to back Our Brave Hired Killers and their extra judicial murders. This is all gelignite to the fire. No honest brokers.

1 What has Noel Little got to do with it? Criticise Pengelly for her own antics, not her Dad's long ago

2 Aye, there are no honest brokers in NI. No-one seriously claims there are

                            3 Bradley's is such a non-job there's little point in sacking her

Pengelly's victory speech was something else. She started out by thanking every UVF stronghold in Belfast by name. She wasn't even subtle about it. It's very obvious what she is.

Aye, there are no honest brokers in NI. No-one seriously claims there are

The irish Govt probably hate sinn Fein more than the UK govt do. Parity of Disesteem is a fairness of sorts. The Unionists should really pay more attention to Fine Gael. Fine Gael have their best interests at heart, as they are probably less keen on a united ireland than most DUP members. There's a strong streak of Redmondism in that party, and it's where all the castle catholics and southern Unionists wound up after independence.

                              3 Bradley's is such a non-job there's little point in sacking her

This is kind of the problem though. It shouldn't be a non-job, and it being a non-job is kind of symptomatic of this whole backstop problem that the UK finds itself in. It's a serious job that requires someone a lot closer to talleyrand, and a lot further away from quasimodo. But it's always quasimodo that they get.

1 Noel Little would be proud, to be mentioned in the same answer as Talleyrand. What next- Augustus Spence reminisces about great-uncle Julius Caesar? As for Pengelly, it's probably best she's unsubtle about her UVF links, don't ye think?

2 Bradley has floundered so badly this week she may well resign or be sacked. Who next? If they want a hard man, Liam Neeson's probably available

3 Fine Gael under their new supremo Mark Dub-kan?

Pretty sure some of those are taken straight from the Gilets Jaunes demands. Obviously not the Irish specific ones.

In the space of a few days, both Peadar Tóibín and Peter Casey have decided that Ireland needs a "balanced" debate on immigration - never mind that they never shown such concern when net migration was outwards for seven consecutive years during the recession.

Thankfully, Dan O'Brien points out that immigrants are more likely to be employed and contribute in taxes than their local counterparts.

                                                Clientelism is strong in Ireland.

A genuine question asked in an Irish Times survey: "Is Ireland losing its identity in the face of a foreign national influx" - perhaps the surprise is that such a leading question only got a 47% Yes response.
