What's the deal with Michael D not showing up for Presidential debates?

Does he reckon the presidency belongs to him and him alone?

          Comment

No, there's fuck all a president can actually say. All of these people running for President are simply going to be talking bollocks about a range of subjects that the President has nothing to do with, or that the President can't really comment on.

He's going on the TV3 one tomorrow, and Prime Time next Tuesday - more surprising is Gallagher thinking himself above the other four. Ní Ríada has pledged to wear a poppy on Armistice Day in the unlikely event of her election.

Ugh. My Dad used to know her father back in the day. He was one of the most important people in the Irish music Revival, He was a fine man who died far too young.

He was famous for a couple of things. The thing he's most widely known for is Composing the Score for the movie Mise Eire, which was the Gael Linn movie made to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1916 rising. It's It's basically an Orchestration of the 16th century song Roisin Dubh. He wrote a fantastic song Called Mna na HEireann. Here's Kate Bush doing a moderate job of singing it.

He Created a chamber group called Ceoltoiri Chualainn who were extraordinarily innovative. The main innovation was that they Tuned their instruments. which wasn't exactly common before them. Their Concert in the Gaiety which that recording was taken from was an eye opening experience for the whole country. A lot of people realized for the first time that it was a serious, and complicated art form, that far from being the music of toothless peasants was something worth preserving. After O'Riada died of cancer at the age of 40 in 1971 Ceoltoiri Chualainn would go on to become the chieftains. (Oh and he also wrote a folk mass in Irish, which in all fairness to it Is pretty good as these things go.

God only knows how she wound up involved in all of this Sinn Fein Nonsense. It's sad.

I think anyone of a certain age in this country has learnt Ag Críost an Síol and Ár nAthair as part of their catechism lessons, and I would concur about their enduring qualities.

Michael D says he had to skip one or two debates because he has to "give precedence to the presidency".

Methinks our president is having a subtle dig at US president.

There's a presidential debate on tv3 with Pat Kenny, but instead I'm watching my new favourite show, the stephen Nolan show on BBC NI. They're discussing the legalization of drugs and Stephen has been banging on about how he can't believe how people wouldn't respect themselves enough not to put these things into their bodies, Pausing only to eat another Black Forest Gateaux.

I’ve never met anyone who had any time for Pat Kenny, at least on telly. There as some folk who swear he’s OK On Radio. Why the fuck are tv3/virgin media throwing half their budget at the tedious fucker? The banality of banality.

No doubt, Arlene will fully support abortion and equal marriage legislation at Westminster bringing NI in line with the rest of the UK?

Nordie pundits mainly agreed Arlene is toast before Xmas, as party hacks are fed up with her shambolic handling of the RHI affair. Could be wishful thinking though

Hah, if they get rid of her over RHI, and you combine that with the Supreme court ruling that the Assembly was breaking the law by not having an Irish language act, it would start to look suspiciously like Sinn Fein were right, and the DUP were completely wrong.

Assuming RoI keeps permanent summer time, NI would be behind it during winter.

And the fuckin juries on defamation trials will for some reason award him huge amounts against judges advice. What kind of arseholes would do that? What kind of arsehole would award him max damages? Though so many arseholes seem to think fair play to him for making a fortune rather than wondering what crimes were committed in the process.

UCD has a brand new huge science building called the O'Brien Centre of Science.

I remember when I saw it, I looked up to see which famous O'Brien scientist it was named after. Twas himself of course.

Surely the government must realise that it doesn't look good taking money from him to finance public projects.
