Twenty-four hours before the last Prime Time debate, Cora Sherlock withdrew, and "No" wanted to replace her with the Iona Institute's Maria Steen. RTE objected, as she had already been on Claire Byrne, and it now seems it will just feature Simon Harris against Peadar Toibín with 20 minutes until airtime:

In any case, it transpires Steen was already booked for TV3's debate tomorrow, so the contrived storm has rather backfired on the No campaign.Last edited by Diable Rouge; 22-05-2018, 20:30.

Mary Lou as Taoiseach without being the biggest party by vote or seats? She’ll probably be the most popular leader by far if she continues the triangulation slightly rightward to become the new Labour Party ++(losing a bit of their old base, gaining a new middle class/“aspirational” foothold to compensate). A new Sturgeon the larger party can hide behind. And the Nordie branch focus might keep the old school Shinners happy for a while, at least in B, NW places.

I see that McDowell was on the telly arguing for repeal.
Would that be the same McDowell who was in the PDs who held the balance of power and voted with FF to bring us the abortion referendum of 2002.... you know those PDs who thought that the current abortion regime was too fucking lax altogether.

Looking at the polling from that 2002 referendum, the don't knows broke favourably for the pro-choice side.

Conservative tweeter Keith Mills gives what I would consider an honest assessment of what constituency results "No" require for success:
