I wonder if Dugdale will jump one day? She wasn’t always the most convincing Staunch Unionist. Her comments pre Brexit ref that a leave vote might be something that makes independence no longer unthinkable seems to have been an honest opinion (she had to retract as soon as the interview was published). Denis Canavan came over from Devolutionary Labour to Indy long ago, Malcolm Chisholm more recently. There’s must be more than a few Slab folk a bit uncomfortable wearing red white and blue rhetorical underpants while Britain looks like a shitshow.

Sturgeon plans a fresh vote by 2021:

Which has pretty much been her position since Brexit vote. The frothers like Wings Over Scotland who want a new indyref even if it's a rogue Catalan style pointless one are going apeshit. Those Salmondite wanks can fuck off but, including Transphobe Joanna Cherry, whatever her work on Brexit at WM.

The same poll said 13% of Scots would vote for the Brexit Party, so a surprisingly high number of English immigrants, it would seem:

Given initial polls for IndyRef1 had it at 60-40 against, starting neck and neck has got to be good news for them.

The currency question remains. Folk will be terrified about their pinshin.

To be introduced "as soon as practicable after independence" , hmmm - granted, you won't (presumably) have a civil war to deal with, but it took us six years to introduce one, and that pegged at parity to sterling.

I've got to say, I would much rather have my pension paid to me in Euro rather than sterling. One of these is a hugely traded, relatively stable, global currency of a massive low inflation trading bloc. The other is the currency attached to Brexit. Ireland has been doing huge amounts of trade with the UK since the introduction of the Euro, and we have two separate currency zones on a small island. I don't see what the problem is.

What would be the Tories response if an un-authorished Indy Ref 2.0 lead to a declaration of UDI? The Black & Tans 2.0?

At the very least encourage the formation of Unionist Paramilitaries in Jockland. Arming them and the like. The Ulsterization of "the mainland"

The Scots could just bang on about 'Suvreinty', a desire to secure their borders and legitimate concerns about immigration from the UK...

Even if they allowed a Section 30 and Indy won, imagine how the bastards would behave in negotiations. Faslane as a treaty port might be the only way Scotland could get them to play nice.

                                    Or reinstating the "Auld Alliance"?

The French were almost as perfidious allies as the English crown.

They'd just play the Scots to create a diversionary front now and again when it suited them, just as England did with Flanders.

                                          Yeah.

                                          The French.

They were always there when they needed the Scots...

not as perfidious as some of the scots. To be honest, it's not a national history that would ever lead you to trust anyone.

Well that's kind of true of most places. It would seem that most history is just the actions of powerful violent psychopaths written down, and no society has ever been free of those as far as I can make out.
