    I blame Puigdemont.

    Comment

good, because he should have been able to foresee that having ignored him the last time, the PP were probably going to crack down on him to distract from their corruption scandal. This is not a false binary, these are two awful sets of cunts, who are seeking to divide people to gain or retain political power, with little or no thoughts or consequences for what happens as a result of their bullshit.

The PP are a corrupt bunch of bastards, But here's the thing. The Economic crash in spain, and the collapse of their building bubble revealed that the national govt and all the local govts were basically all corrupt as fuck, and if you're looking for a political party that isn't up to their bollocks in shady shit with builders, you are looking at a party that has never been close enough to power to be considered worth bribing. And I say this as an Irish person, living in a country that did a virtually identical thing, for virtually identical reasons.

And while there are corruption scandals in the PP, it's worth considering that no-one has got around to prosecuting Jordi Puyol yet. Puyol lead puidgemont's party between 1974 and 2003, and was king of catalonia from 1980 to 2003. That fucker was Charlie Haughey with an extra 0 at the end. Investigating his massive corruption might have some interesting impacts on catalan society and the economy. But if you were to start doing that sort of thing, who knows where it could end up.

Oh. I was joking. Taking the piss. It's like a meme, type thing. Here in this thread. "I blame Puigdemont". Like, whatever the PP does, anywhere, any time, we blame him, cos that's funny, see?

        Not real.

That’s Pujol. As in, ¡Pujol, enano, habla Cristiano!

Puigdemont is much further from the Pujol kleptocracy than Mas (who called the first ref, if you were trying to blame wee Carles for that too there). Our probable future Taoiseach Martin is closer to the corrupt heart of State like Bertie or Charlie than Carles is to the Pujol regime (PSC ran Catalunya most of the 00 decade).

Fuck Leo the Bastard has been closer to pure blatant venal DOB funded corruption by sharing a Cabinet office with Our Blessed Commissioner than you can ever pin on that Oasis looking Molt Catala fanny.

Jordi Sanchez signs up to be number two on the Puigdemont list, which should give the latter's poll ratings a shot in the arm:

Meanwhile, it seems the Looney Tunes boat has finally left Barcelona:

It now emerges that the mastermind of the Barcelona attacks was a confidant of Spanish intelligence:

                  A tale of two polls:

The latter forecast seems rather more credible.

Well I suppose it’s possible for the New Broom wanks of Ciudadanos to be the biggest winner from all this, but hope to christ the second poll is more accurate. The first seems Rasmussen in its wrongness. But then abc is only one step from the absolutely frothing La Razon for Opus Dei friendly reactionary Uber Unionist bollocks.

Looks like the local PP would be about as relevant as the UUP in any event.

Would be a remarkable comeback if Puigdemont actually won the election, and it appears he could well do so:

Can the Spanish state not just get some Francoist thugs to beat people up for voting? That usually sorts things out.

So, the polling moratorium has officially begun, but in reality, daily polls will continue to be published from Andorra:

So the current polls suggest a repeat, with a pro-independence majority in the parliament, having gathered less than 50% of the votes.

And for now, both Esquerra and Junts per Catalunya have said they will adopt a bilateral approach with Madrid, who presumably will continue to stonewall, and the stalemate will go on.

                                            Oranges and lemons:

The fruity code relates to the party colours, so Esquerra are lemons, C's oranges, and Podemos aubergine.

Those seem fairly stable polls in agreement, unlike some of the earlier all that over the place stuff. Can kicking is all we can hope for. Do they have Royal Commissions in Espain?

With 48 hours until the election, a pro-indy majority appears more secure now. Meanwhile, Ciudadanos are pushing the Catalan PP into virtual extinction:

Molt Catala Chris Deerin Sensible types could never jump to the Podemos aligned aubergines. Or quite pretend it’s ok to vote for PP lite ciudatonos (yeah, sp). So the PSC will limp on. Also old Union members, in every sense, much like SLab’s core before the Corbynite Enthusiasm among the Scots young.
