    Davy Jones

Davy Jones being from Salford was a United supporter, I read an interview with him some time ago in one of the United fanzines.

I was aware the great Ry Cooder in his youth played with Taj Mahal and Captain Beefheart, but am surprised he played on Monkee's records, maybe he was thinking of his 'Little Sister'

That's my recollection too, Historyman. Because it didn't seem to be specifically aimed at kids - at least not in the sense that the shows that came after it on a Saturday were - that made it all the more special.
It wasn't produced for kids. It ran in prime-time on Mondays on NBC (7:30pm). It was moved to kids programming on Saturday mornings when CBS picked up the re-runs a year or so after the show was cancelled. I think it was originally directed at teenagers, a light half-an-hour after dinner before homework and your folks took over the TV, type of deal.

That explains it then. Cheers, AdC.
