    Today's Earworm

    Anyhoo, bashing on with:

    Rainbow - Starstruck
Ha, my one for the last two days has been "Can't Happen Here" by Rainbow.

Let me tell you, finding yourself singing the words to this in a busy office can attract some strange looks.

Thanks to the tech news headlines about Apple relabelling "Free" apps as "Get" in the App Store I've been lumbered with a Rob & Raz Featuring Leila K earworm. It's 1989 all over again.

                    Today's Earworm

Used to go to infant school with a guy who learned to read and write via Sesame street...and he could count, but he couldn't help but say it in the manner that they do on that video. It was funny as fuck.

Anywho, finally got around to watching Kingpin this week, and this is the song that plays during the end credits. Gotta love a harmonica solo. Must have listened to this a good twenty+ times today. That bass!

Iko Iko — The Dixie Cups (alt version)

The studio jam the hit record grew out of. At this distance, for me, it's far superior.

Includes original unexpurgated lyrics such as:

"See that guy all dressed in green. He's not a man he's a sex machine."

Given the ladies learned the song from their grandmother, it does makes you wonder what she was like.

The song's history is interesting, as both an example of how orally transmitted music works, and how poor, unknown, songwriters get ripped off.

The theme to the BBC's bloody London Marathon coverage. You know - dum-dum-dum, de-dum, de-dum-dum. Lord alone knows why.

Right now, it's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me", by Dusty Springfield.

I'd aver it doesn't really get better than that.

Hmm. That's now going round my head as well.

But since it's about the only thing that's managed to shift "I Say Nothing" by Voice of the Beehive it's probably no bad result.
