    Cover Drive

This must have been mentioned already, surely?

I saw posters for this Barbados pop group in Bethnal Green, but considering Tubby Isaacs lives not so far from there, it's surely possible that this is his doing.

Me, I'm more a fan of foul-mouthed Jamaican ragga crew Leg Side Nurdle.

I want to set up a country band called Cow Corner.

Short Arm Jab would be a good speed-metal type act I reckon

Short Arm Jab is perhaps more straight-edge punk I feel. You're thinking of Wild Slash.

Heavy Ball would make a great stoner rock unit.

I intend to be the svengali for lewd boyband Good Length.

Whatever happened to 'tasteful' 80s white soul act Inside Edge?

I remember them. There was a bit of rivalry between them and that more old school, deep 80s soul act wasn't there, what were they called – oh yeah, Genuine Edge.

Maybe Good Length could find a sparring partner in a up-and-coming, feisty girl group – Brand New Cherry, or perhaps even more racily, Dark Cherry.

I remember them - used to go to a good club night that played that sort of stuff called Bowled Off A No-Ball

I'd rather get up close and personal with The Slips.

"Run Out (Without Facing A Ball)". Classic parentheses.

Whatever happened to the whole Seam Movement scene, a sort-of softer antidote to hard-edged industrial German electronica in the late 70s?

It was a big influence on '90s italohouse act The Tamperer.

                          Ah, man, what a thread.

It's like the one about government schemes sounding like bands.

"Though they rejected the world music label, Chinese Cut ..."

My failure to complete that sentence is why I'm not working for The Quietus. Or indeed for anyone else.

DD, not quite. The Duckworth-Lewis Method was the name of a concept album by Neil Hannon out of The Divine Comedy wasn't it? Which I've got, natch.

(In many ways, this thread is a bit like what Stay Beautiful was like back in the day for wild-eyed devil-may-care types like me and Tubbs where, surrounded by vampish sexy glamour and banging pop tunes, we'd skulk in the corner drinking bottled lager slagging off Telegraph cricket writers and such. Like the nutters we were)

Perhaps they went the way of US alt-country act Leg Gully.

I was about to go for Third Man, but they must be real.

There was a band years ago called The Cooper Temple Clause.

I don't know what the Cooper Temple clause is though.
