    Karl Hooper leaves thread disappointed

So, has anyone else got Amazing Radio locked to their digital dial? It's an upload-only station with a playlist taken from tunes uploaded to amazing tunes and at the moment it's doing a better job than any other commercial or BBC station of playing alternative new bands and artists. And it doesn't just stick a load of conservative old indie jangle on either (although the odd bit does slip through) - there's everything from avant rock to ambient and dubstep and thankfully, loads of lovely indietronica. Now, OK, because the majority of the artists are unsigned, the quality control isn't watertight - but that's hardly the point, and anyway, it's fun to listen to a lot of the acts and work out who they're trying to be. There are a few too many poor man's Animal Collectives sloshing around at the moment. The other endearing thing about the station is that it's run from Newcastle, so you get to hear plenty of cheery Geordie voices burbling away between the songs. Inevitably, given that it's run on a shoestring, they often muddle through in a not entirely professional manner, but again, it's something that only serves to add to the station's charm.

Anyway, there you go. Once again, I've written a post that sounds dispiritingly like a press release (only without the grammar and that). Someone will most likely pop up now and tell me the whole station is financed by a Russian gas baron.
