    Songs About The Middle Classes

Free Electric Band by Albert Hammond
Yeah, good call. I only discovered this song about two years ago and it quickly became one of my favourites. Love the lines,

"She'd settle for suburbia and a little patch of land/ So I gave her up for music and the Free Electric Band."

(Everybody Wants to Be) Bourgie Bourgie - Gladys Knight & The Pips
          Our House - CSNY
          The Dean and I - 10cc
22 Grand Job - The Rakes
          Country House - Blur
          Stereotypes - Blur

Black (ie, Colin Vearncombe) always struck me as a middle-class wannabe, with his lyrics about 'butter dishes' and the like...

                "Blur - Colin Zeal"

That's the one that sprang to mind for me when I saw the thread title. Blur have done plenty of these, but that was the best one.

"Paintball's Coming Home - Half Man Half Biscuit"

Half Man Half Biscuit were the second group that sprang to mind, though I have Taylor to thank for this, having recently read his quietus article about them.

Have we had Pleasant Valley Sunday yet?
