      This one's a toughy - I make no apologies.

7: What was the first single released on the Warner Bros label in the UK (clue: it was in 1960)?

I'm so confident that I have the correct answer that I'll post the next question before Smallcaps does and get this thread back to it's original premise.

        7. Which record label used to sponsor Fulchester United?

        Ah Fuck it.

Was it something by the Everly Bros? 'Cathy's Clown' perhaps? Or Peter, Paul and Mary?

Eddie Grant was in The Equals. Whose backing band were they?

Yes it is. One point for you.

And which original premise would that be? Can you quote it from the thread?

Don't get me wrong: if the majority thinks we should have a pass-the-baton system for question asking, then I am all for it. But unless I am mistaken, this has not even been suggested.

Sorry no, my error. having said that, there appears to have been a free for all with regard to posting questions, which rather hampers the continuity, but it's not like there's any money riding on it, so, as you were.

1960 release date in both the US and UK according to Discogs. Probably recorded in 59.

                          Ah, right.

I've lost count of the numbers. I think it's:

#10: What was the only UK hit on the Regal Zonophone label prior to 1966?

I might as well throw in a few classic pub quiz questions :

#11 Which act has had the most top ten hits in the UK (18) without ever reaching number one?

#12 Which two acts have had the most top 40 hits in the UK (19) without ever reaching the top ten?

#13 Which act has had the most top 75 singles in the UK (17) without ever reaching the top 20?

Yeah, post questions whenever you like, just try to number them so that answers are easy to reference. The person who sets the question is the same person who awards the point.

Nope, I see where you're coming from with that but Come Play With Me did reach the top ten. I may start giving out some clues in a bit if nobody can answer these as they're not all that obvious (except maybe for one of #12 about whom I thought it was a pretty famous fact)
