The 'starting on day three' England v India thread

As the commentators say a lot, the point is that the technology has shown umpires how much they can give out. Not having DRS doesn't put that genie back in the cliche.

There's another badly wrong lbw decision.

Plumb lbw not given by Bowden apparently because he detected an inside edge. Broad, to be fair, kept his cool well.

Harbjahan out to a terrible slog.

            7 down.

England celebrated the last wicket by all running over the pitch.

                  Bit naughty that, wasn't it?
Still, made no difference, India's top 6 may be the best in the world, but their bottom 5 are bloody awful.

Looking forward to the highlights of this - I was sure England had tossed away their chances with their overly lengthy wait to declare yesterday, but clearly not. The team have obviously got a huge amount of faith in the bowling attack.

Can you watch highlights on terrestrial TV? I have no clue what happens on TV with the cricket anymore. I literally haven't watched the England cricket team play cricket for over three years. I've followed it religiously in every other media.

Anyway, amazing, amazing day's cricket. The declaration seemed about right to me - Prior and Broad were scoring at such a rate, and tiring the Indians out in the field, it was right to keep the foot on the throat.

Really great to see Broad back to bowling like a rational human being. I know he's an irritating little bastard, but it would be sad if he didn't fulfill the lion's share of his potential.

Starting this time half way through the first day. England are already five wickets down, and haven't reached a hundred...

Six down, Bell has just been dropped. India exploiting the overcast conditions really well. It might actually be in England's interests to get out and have a bowl tonight

They certainly seem to be pursuing that tactic.

124 for 8 at tea, with Broad and Swann at the crease.

Broad and Swann seem to have accepted that they're not going to be around for long, so they might as well score as many as they can before they're out. Quite an entertaining session post-tea so far.

This could prove to be a match-winning partnership.

Rare indeed is the instance where you could see England at 124-8 and think 1) No one's really to blame here, and 2) We've got a very good chance of winning nonetheless. But this was one of them.

Agreed, although given England's precarious position, Bell shouldn't have gone fishing for the ball he edged.

The second of Broad's hat-trick wickets was an unbelievably bad decision, but that was still a sensational little spell from Broad, especially as during that Yuvrah-Dravid partnership England's attack had looked as becalmed as it's looked for ages

Broad is my least favourite test cricketer, but even I have to accept that he's been quality in this match.

And each time India are hoisted on their anti-UDRS petard, an angel gets his cap.

Oh yeah, no sympathy for India, but I just prefer it when hat-tricks are 'proper'.
