The Sun's run itself close today with an article about Unite wanting to give presentations in schools.

      Brainwashing.

The author is that cunt, David Wooding, who was around the news studios trying to get up sympathy for the sacked staff. I believe he referred to it having the best newsroom in the world.

Having to withdraw allegations – more prosaically publish a “correction” or “clarification” – is an occupational hazard for newspapers.

But to have to back down four times in four months suggests an attack campaign that has gone seriously wrong.

No prizes for guessing that the rag in question is the Sun, and its target has been Gordon Brown.

            This is a start.

If she gets 15 months, which would have been three years apart from circumstances, for the serious but isolated incident of corruption she was charged with, that must send chills down the spines of the people accused of long running corrupt relationships.
Cashburn's barrister argued that her sentance would be precedent setting. Well yes, let us hope that is the case and any of the others convicted can expect judges to start at three years gaol time and work upwards.

The wrongdoing here took place at the end of 2009, under Dominic Mohan.

Hang on, wasn't The Sun clean? Despite being down the corridor from the NOTW?

News Corp has claimed the Sun was clean from a phone hacking perspective, but I don't think they've claimed that about payments to police/civil servants. At least not since the whole thing blew up.

Glad to see they don't live in the sort of "cappuccino" places Guardian readers live.

                          More phone hacking. Brilliant.

Dominic Mohan must get his collar felt, surely.

Surely Murdoch et al need to be banned from the media for life as it has been proven already that they are not ethically or morally capable of running a media organisation.

AE, one of the main problems with Leveson was that it ducked big awkward questions about media ownership, and, in typical Great and Good patrician style, honed in on the regulatory-frameword angle, which seems to me to have good bits, bad bits and confusing bits. And the whole thing seems a bit of a mess now.

But rarely has so much apocalyptic bullshit been spouted across the opinion-spectrum on it all.

He wasn't asked to look into media ownership, so think it would have been a stretch. His patrician demeanour was perfect in the circumstances. He just looked like a nice chap who couldn't believe the arseholes in front of him. And a nice chap who could pull rank on them.

I put your point about police seizing material to a chap on another board. He said he didn't know what was happening now but said there's a fair bit of ECHR precedent. He posted this.

The deputy editor of the Sun, Geoff Webster, has been charged with allegedly authorising two payments to public officials for information, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

He is charged with conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office, relating to payments totalling £8,000.
