Murdoch scum
C'mon guys.
James Murdoch authorised the out of court settlement of lawsuits against the NOTW and NI brought by victims of the hacking campaign.
That's actually prudent action in his role as a director. Any rational NI shareholder would much rather they pay Siena Miller a hundred thousand quid than go through extended litigation that would cost many times that, likely end in a verdict for even more, and (most importantly) provide ample evidence and incentive for a host of copy cat lawsuits.
dglh, you are of course right, but the last time I paid attention (which was admittedly a while ago) merger arb just wasn't that sophisticated.
GY, I agree with your conclusion on the likelihood of the merger going through, but would not be surprised if the government engineered a delay of some sort, and also think that there would be a real chance of serious conditions being imposed if it was referred to the Competition Commission.
