A new history of the HOUSTON TEXANS

                        10-6 CHARGERS at 16-0 TEXANS

                        TEXANS win 52-13

7-0 Ford 89 yard kickoff return
14-0 Moss 9 yard TD reception
                        17-0 Nugent 35 yard FG
24-0 Moss 72 yard TD reception
24-6 Pratt 14 yard TD reception
                        (2 point conversion failed)
31-6 James 2 yard TD run
38-6 Shockey 54 yard TD reception
38-13 Peelle 7 yard TD reception
45-13 James 3 yard TD run
52-13 James 1 yard TD run

The TEXANS cut through the CHARGERS with their rapier-sharp speed, and then bludgeoned them into submission with a blunt object. The rapiers were RANDY MOSS, who caught 5 balls for 122 yards and 2 TDs, JEREMY SHOCKEY, who had 4 receptions for 102 yards and 2 TDs, and JACOBY FORD, who returned a kickoff 89 yards for a score. And the blunt object was EDGERRIN JAMES who blasted in for 3 TDs and totalled 67 yards rushing on 13 carries. The final score was 52-13 a real shellacking of the shell-shocked CHARGERS by a dominant TEXANS team at the top of its game.

DAVID CARR was MVP as he completed 17 of 24 passes for 316 yards and 3 TDs. In contrast DREW BREES completed 18 of 36 for 262 yards, 2 TDs and an INT.

LT2 ran 14 times for only 29 yards for the CHARGERS. BOB NORTON caught 7 balls for 77 yards, while JUSTIN PEELLE had 5 receptions for 76 yards and a TD.

DeMECO RYANS had an insane game, with 10 tackles, 4 for a loss, and 2 sacks. Best game ever by a TEXANS LB? TEDDY LEHMAN snared the INT of BREES.

                            13-3 RAVENS at 16-0 TEXANS

                            TEXANS win 29-14

7-0 James 2 yard TD run
                            10-0 Nugent 41 yard FG
10-7 Lewis 1 yard TD run
                            13-7 Nugent 33 yard FG
                            16-7 Nugent 20 yard FG
16-14 Boller 7 yard TD run
23-14 James 5 yard TD run
29-14 Griffin 61 yard fumble return
                            (2 point conversion failed)

ANDRE JOHNSON had a game for the ages with 9 receptions for 223 yards, and even snared an INT when CHRIS McALISTER got hurt! His performance took the TEXANS past a battling RAVENS team that made a real game of it. It wasn't until big old CORNELIUS GRIFFIN rumbled 61 yards with a fumble to paydirt that it was over.

DAVID CARR completed 13 of 21 passes for 256 yards, while EDGE ran 12 times for 21 yards and 2 TDs. RANDY MOSS was pretty subdued with 3 catches for 25 yards.

KYLE BOLLER compelted 15 of 25 for 222 yards, while JAMAL LEWIS ran 16 times for 21 yards and the score. CADE SPARKS was their leading receiver with 6 catches for 111 yards.

Defensively, CHARLES WOODSON was the leading tackler for HOUSTON with 5 and an INT. PATRICK SURTAIN and ANDRE JOHNSON (amazingly!) also got INTs. HALOTI NGATA and TREVOR PRYCE added sacks.

For the RAVENS, ED REED had a big game with 8 tackles, and their D got two sacks of CARR.

                                TEXANS win 34-17

                                0-3 Brown 24 yard FG
0-10 Harris 26 yard INT return
7-10 Moss 68 yard TD reception
7-17 Robinson 64 yard TD reception
                                10-17 Nugent 32 yard FG
17-17 Johnson 28 yard TD reception
                                20-17 Nugent 23 yard FG
27-17 Moss 74 yard TD reception
34-17 Jackson 76 yard punt return

RANDY MOSS to the rescue! With the TEXANS down 10-0, it was a 68 yard TD reception from RANDY that got them back in the game, and then again it was MOSS with the 74 yard TD reception that iced the game. He would finish MVP for his 3 catches for 156 yards and 2 TDs.

DAVID CARR had a solid outing, completing 16 of 29 for 323 yards, 3 TDs and an INT, but that pick was critical, putting HOUSTON in an early 10-0 hole. He didn't get much support from his running games, with EDGE managing just 22 yards on 9 carries. At least ANDRE JOHNSON was reliable with 5 receptions for 84 yards and the TD.

MATT HASSELBECK completed 14 of 23 passes for 185 yards and a score. SHAUN ALEXANDER carried 19 times for 12 yards. KOREN ROBINSON had 3 receptions for 73 yards and a TD.

TEDDY LEHMAN was the leading tackler for HOUSTON with 6, two for a loss. PATRICK SURTAIN got hurt but the retiring SHAUN SPRINGS replaced him capably.

                                    RETIRED:

                                    DONOVAN DARIUS

The veteran strong safety concludes his career with 954 tackles, 25 sacks and 40 interceptions. He went to 3 PBs, and started for us for the last seven seasons.

                                    TONY BOSELLI

What a story this guy was! Not only did this expansion draft TEXAN and former JAGUAR come back from a crippling injury (that forced his retirement in real life), he put together a further eight outstanding seasons for the TEXANS at RT, in which they won 5 Lombardi Trophies!

He finishes his career with 382 pancakes and went to 4 PBs.

                                    GARY WALKER

Another original "expansion draft" TEXAN, WALKER had a superb career in HOUSTON, starting all eight years for us at DE, and finishing with career totals of 803 tackles and 122 sacks. He went to 6 PBs.

                                    BILLY MILLER

Starting TE for the first 5 seasons of the dynasty and a reserve thereafter, concludes his career with 482 catches for 4648 yards and 36 TDs. Went to 4 PBs.

                                    SHAUN SPRINGS

Starting CB for us for 3 seasons and a reserve for a further 2; went to 5 PBs in total.

                                    SAMARI ROLLE

Starting CB for us in the Lombardi Trophy-winning Year 2 and a valuable reserve thereafter, went to 4 PBs.

                                    DAUNTE CULPEPPER
                                    HINES WARD
                                    JERRY PORTER

                                      RE-SIGNED:

                                      Justin Smiley (36/7)
                                      Nick Hardwick (49/7)
                                      Chris Snee (44/7)
                                      Stuart Schweigert (33/7)
                                      Teddy Lehman (33/7)
                                      Rob Reynolds (2.5/2)

That's every member of our first draft class re-signed - and what a draft class!

                                      1st Stuart Schweigert (6.5/7)
                                      2nd Nick Hardwick (4.2/7)
                                      3rd Justin Smiley (3.4/7)
                                      4th Rob Reynolds (2.5/7)
                                      5th Chris Snee (1.7.7)
                                      6th Teddy Lehman (1.5/7)

The only one who is not a valuable starter is REYNOLDS, and he is a useful reserve LB.

We basically got out starting FS, C, LG, RG and MLB in one draft!
