This is quite a belated thread, I suppose, but I was fascinated to read about this today.
Apparently, in 2007, England's Darryl Peach won this after a quarter-final against Filipino legend (and current world champion) Francisco Bustamante, which ended in apparent chaos after a 20-minute hiatus when confusion reigned after Bustamante had apparently "won" the game, only for it to be finally ruled after much looking at TV evidence that the "winning" shot (where Bustamante potted the nine-ball after apparently fairly hitting the 3-ball, as he was supposed to do first) was in fact a foul as he had hit the 9-ball - fractionally - first.
