Tantrums, tiaras and televoting - Eurovision 2011

    2.
Armenia has the biggest fingers in so many pies. SUCH A FUCKING RIP of so many songs, I can barely count (video included).

    Out in the semis.

      3.
      Austria

Immediate thoughts are ohforfucksake, stick as many shit lyrics into a computer, and find This ONE.

I think they may have done the same with the tune.

Beyond badness. (You will know it when/if you hear it)

        You called, Gero?

I do find that OTF is the the best place to enjoy Eurovision, and I genuinely do, although it generally ends in crushing disappointment.

Phoebe Disco/David Agnew's the man for this, though. And I do think we ought to start a dedicated thread in Music, as is the tradition.

          4 is
Azerbaijan and is ... well, I wasnt diabetic before this. HOWEVER, (its a twosome) the bearded kid might win a few gay votes in the UK. Wont win, and should be flogged. (song itself is gentle enough, occasional threat of goodness, but just average, and below.)

Belarus' is called 'I love Belarus, and the lady singist, really does... and she is magnificent, boys.

Middle to upbeat, but needs a hook, slightly larger than the chorus, which is not forgettable, as I am already singing the bastard thing.

*This has a big chance... a BIG chance.

** actually, thats the first I listened to all the way through... it reminds me a little of 'London Knights/Nights' by the London Beat/Boys/whatever, that one... and is catchy, and if she does her thang, and the cossacks in the background do THEIR thing, and it is a thing, they have a huge chance.

              6 is
Belgium and is a ManTran thing which I like, but will find few fans.

Carmel meets S Club 7. (I told you I like it... ah, and the obligatory hip-hop thing... fuck it, I still like it)

              Wont win.

(and sorry, no links, yet. although I need a pee, so will furnish soon, cos I know you love it.)

Right, links done... and sorry, AB, I am having a hell of a time... jump in for the preamble, if you dare.

Sorry, if I took your name in vain, its just that you were the only person who was staunchly (heheeh)watching this to the very occasional bitter end.

AND, ah shit, I didnt even realise we were in TV... I was too busy being 'centred'.

anyway, on a roll, 7 is
                    Bosnia & Herzegovina

Reminds me of 'Sailor'... very low-rent, lovely piano, but non-memorable.

However, it keeps stopping and starting, so my cache needs clearing....

Touch of the 'TaTu' about it, but its very rawk... plodding mid section piano, to lead into quiet verse, and loud chorus (still waiting)... nice voice GREAT hair, but not enough... will qualify, oooh, and their's is a ... 'bit' which might help

The lady who sings this, will kick the shit out of you if you dont vote for her... and you know, I just might. Although, admittedly, not a fucking chance.

She looks phenomenally more Dana International, than DI does. And she has a symetrical face. Not good. But 11, just in case (and if she cant read Scottish, a decent 5 and a half.)

and now that she has my puppy hostage, here's the link.

                          10 is
Cyprus and I am loath to say it, but it is exactly what you think it is.

(Starts off, 'I would rather be a puppet' etc, and you know the sultry rest, and boy is he cute.)

                          1 out of 10.

11... just about to get to Denmark and their promo pick is with all members having one eye shut... I suspect this MEANS SOMETHING, perhaps a memory of keeping one eye opened when Portugal did their thing in 1975, eh guys? (go with it)... I hope they arent going for 'My Star'...

                            Its fucking awful.

                              12 is
                              ESTONIA.

I put that in capitals, because I had to watch it twice.

If it isnt the favourite, get your cash on NOW. They have had a look (and a huge listen to) Girls Aloud, and the Girls should be pissed off that they let this tune go.

Its early, but I think we have a winner.

Actually, I am too pissed to go any further, with any searing insight, but that is the bar, (Estonia) which others must beat, and I suspect not.

If they can sing live, its all over, although as I said, I have a whole day off tomorrow to check out the rest (and there are 30 more... how wonderful for me.)

Sweden or Turkey are going to piss this.

Huge credit to Gero for his manful slog through the entries so far - after that camp OD, it's no wonder he needed to take a break.

                                      13 is
FYR (for your reckoning) Macedonia which starts off rather intriguing then goes all electro-Baltic, and I suspect the singer 'likes musica' although if this continues, I will be rather against musica of any form from this person.

And he looks like Coldplay, circa 'Viva La Vida'.

                                        14 is
Finland. 'Not so cute' himbo with a guitar, playing a song which reminds me of that Christmas thing about driving in your truck with your dad. And, he sounds like James Blunt.

This is not to my taste.

However, it has things which grip, like a fucking nail gun attached to your arteries.

So, a possibility (and I absolutely detest it)

                                          15 is
France, and I am hoping for some grown up Sebastiaen Tellier stuff, although I suspect otherwise... here goes...

                                          Utterly magnificent. See it.

                                          http://www.eurovision.tv/page/history/year/participant-profile/?song=25663

(A hint: Pavarotti meets Les Miserables, meets a stunningly beautiful man with a voice, singing his and everyone else's tits off)

Fuck off Estonia, that was CLASS, and what a difference from the normal French 'turn-up, sing, smoke a Gauloise, shag everyone in sight, and then fuck off, not bothered' type thing.

Third time I have listened to that, hence the pause... a bit special.

If this guy can cut it live, its really, REALLY all over.

Oh, and its in Corsican, so dont worry about it.

                                            After the high, comes 16
                                            Georgia

A 6 piece all in black, and surprisingly good... struggling to think of a similarity... maybe a rocking No DOubt, with some (obviously) rapping thrown in... and it is really not bad.

The singer (female) has a huge scarf, and I am kinda hoping she does an Isadora Duncan with it, cos its getting annoying.

However, that aside, its a very decent song, worth a good final place, and probably top 10.

Now, before I review this in my bitchy, arsehole-ish way, I should apologise for missing a night... I was having a lobotomy.

                                              OK, go Deutschland. (sic, natch.)

                                              female Plan B

Lady Gaga video rip off (which means nothing)... I am not sure about this... it reminds me of too many Brit girls (who are really not as beautiful as this lady), but there is something... amiss.

THATS it. She looks like Sophie Ellis Bexter, but in decimal form.

WOnt win, but not bad. Oh, and no climax...

Greece and apart from Portugal, and probably Ireland they dont want to win.

                                                Lets see...

                                                Greek 2 Unlimited. Yep.

Sorry, exactly the Europap you would hear on a holiday to ... well, not sure really, because I would venture that they wont be playing this anywhere near Hellas for a million years.

(Sort of sounds like a slowed down version of 'Viva La Diva', which really says it all.)

Jaguar in the video aiming at Brits... SERIOUSLY good gay disco beat.

Not sure... is there such a thing as TOO gay? if so, this is it. Does Hungary owe the UK money?

6 pints, or an E later, I would love this.

Not brilliant, but not bad. (She is tunning with a capital STUN)

Now, ever since I saw that mental leather queen on a couch, emoting a song (which wasnt bad), I have had high hopes for the quirkiness of Iceland...

here goes... ah, its a 6-piece in shirts and waistcoats.

Yep, Mumford and Sons with skill. Mid paced plodder, gentle but kind. Going nowhere.

I quite like it, but it wont get anywhere near the title.
