Surf films

As a kid growing up in Southern California and spending a lot of time at the beach, I was always into the surf films and will still watch them from time to time. The other night I watched a documentary called Billabong's Surf Odyssey, which is about efforts to use weather technologies to track storms and then surf the big waves. Anyway, the opening scene for this film just blew me away. It sucks that there is a spoiler in the Spike clip because there really is a very suspenseful feature of this intro when it's not clear what will form on the screen, but check it out if you're into surf films (or even if you want to see someone surf a giant wave). And the use of sound is amazing.

Yeah, that's pretty.. er.. sick.. is the word, I believe.

There are many much better 'in wave' shots in other films and documentaries but that's a real "woah... look at the size of that mother!" moment, and as you say, the use of sound is pretty cool.
