This is a bit like the old dinner party chestnut "would Mozart and Beethoven nowadays have employed electric guitars, sampling, keyboards and amplified "wall of sound" backing singers, or stuck to the traditional orchestral and choral arrangements they employed at the time"?
The answer generally has to be "of course they would", doesn't it? I can imagine Beethoven being positively delighted at the opportunity of collaborating with some of the more 'orchestral' stadium artists like U2, Oasis or Coldplay.
And Mozart would almost have certainly have just gone off and become another Fat Boy Slim.

And I find your notion that Jesse Owens would today struggle to keep up odd. With the benefit of all the advantages modern athletes enjoy, he might outrun the lot of them. Who knows?
