    Comedians' Christmas videos

Not much to say about this, other than, there are fucking loads.

The adverts have just had Dara O'Briain, Sean Lock, Bill Bailey and then they tried to slip in a Roy 'Chubby' 'racist twat' Brown, in...

who are they selling this to? would you buy a DVD from this man? OF this man?

Someone out there knows more about advertising than I... they sell the star, and usurp with the cunt?

Anyway, I will be happy if I end up with my stockings full of none of the above (I want them pristinely wrapped, thanks, and leave my stockings alone, you beardy old git... hmmm...)

Gero would be mightily depressed then to find out how popular Mr Brown's 'peak era' VHS releases were north of the river Trent.

Long ignored copies of The Helmet Rides Again and The Helmet's Last Stand litter dusty old video collections around this neck of the woods.

I recently met an Asian guy in Leicester who proudly announced to me that he'd gone to see Roy "Chubby" Brown and had been the only Asian person there, he found it highly amusing that all the BNP types in the audience had stared at him laughing along.

Think there's something like 40+ stand up DVDs that were released in time for Christmas, which is incredible, but I guess it makes financial sense as they do tend to top the DVD charts.

I'm sure they do make financial sense -- the profit margin must be huge, based on the cost of making the things. Same goes for all those fitness DVDs.

I guess the former suits the male demographic and the latter the female demographic.

Previously, the only genre with such high margins would have been pornography, but -- with all those video sharing sites -- it seems to be in terminal decline.

But to return to the subject of comedy DVDs; the charity shops and second-hand shops are full of the sodding things.

Thing is, you can watch a good film or listen to a favourite song time and time again, but a funny joke or routine only seems funny once, or occasionally twice, then it's just mildly amusing...or maybe that's just me. Funnily enough, this doesn't seem to be the case with funny films such as The Life Of Brian or Blazing Saddles, which make me laugh out loud every time I watch them.

I've read that Brown's DVDs are big sellers, not least because he's got a large potential audience from back in the day, but he's never on TV any more.
